They have more openings than other salons. That worked in their favor as I decided to go with them. I was originally booked with Emma, but was informed that she wasn't working today so was asked if I could schedule with Krista, which I was fine with. Krista was very personable and lovely. We had fun talking about everything. She's my kind of gal. She did an amazing job on my hair. Unlike my last smoothing treatment, I felt like Krista took her time and didn't rush. I love the salon's decor. It has a very welcoming and homely vibe, yet chic. They sell merchandise including hair and skin care products, apparel, satin pillowcases, caps, and other accessories. Aside from hair services, they offer facials, tanning, Reiki/crystal healing, and lash and brow services. Highly recommend this salon. Please ask for Krista! We went back and forth on an appointment date and time that worked for both of us. We worked out a time and I was pleased because I only had to wait a few days. When I arrived, they were very nice, offered me bottled water, and had me sit for my pedicure right away. Maria began my manicure by removing the polish that was only on my big toe on each foot. She used the nail drill. The procedure was uncomfortable because the drill burned a bit as it went through the polish. Aside from that, the pedicure appeared fine. She then did the manicure. The manicure looked ok, but there were some bubbles in the polish when it dried. It was a rush job because there was another customer waiting. She left me sitting at the dryer while she went to wirk on the next customer. Miss Donna removed the bubble with her fingers and painted the finger again. By the time I got home, (I live 7 minutes from the shop) the polish was smudged on some of my fingers and toes. I called Donna and she had me come back in so that it could be done over. The polish was removed from the fingers and toes that were smudged and then they were done again. The looked okay when I left. Over the next few days, the polish on my fingers started to lift near the cuticles and at the top of the nails and started getting caught in hair, clothes, etc and the polish peeled off. I have never had this happen as long as I have been getting my nails done. Because this Salon offers many services, massage, facials, etc, I might try something else, but I will not go back for a mani/pedi

A few days later, the owner called asking if I could move my time from 11:30 to 11:15. The business is located in a professional center. I arrived at the updated time, but the door was locked. When I called, the owner explained she was running late and was on her way. I was frustrated, as I would have preferred to keep my original time. She arrived eight minutes late and did not acknowledge or apologize for the delay. The henna itself took about five minutes. It was a simple design, and she mentioned that more elaborate designs--like the samples displayed on the walls--could cost up to $80. She advised me to avoid soap, water, and lotion for 24 hours, and said it would take roughly 30-40 minutes to dry. When I got home and changed my shirt, the ink began flaking off. I strongly recommend wearing a button-down shirt if you get a henna done here. As shown in my photo, the stain is not uniform; some areas are noticeably darker than others. I've had several hennas in the past--many done for free at events and one paid for while on vacation--and this is probably the poorest quality in terms of the stain. While I liked the design itself, I'm unlikely to return due to the inconsistent ink quality and the owner's tardiness after asking me to adjust my appointment. In addition to hennas, the business offers waxing, threading, facials, and makeup services.

I have been going to Radhika's Spa for about 10 years. They have always done a great job and I've…read morenever had any issues until recently and everything hit the fan today. First off, it has been very difficult to get in touch with anyone to make an appointment. I called last Saturday, no answer. I thought maybe they were just busy so I drove up there to see if I could walk in. When I got there the door was locked, no one was there so I left. Later on, I called several times to make an appointment and then finally someone called me back days later to allow me to schedule an appointment. I finally went to my scheduled appointment and everything was fine until it was time to pay. I asked if I could use Apple Pay. I was told no it charges more fees but could use chip instead. My card declines twice. I tried 2 other cards which were also activated, used before and were also declined. I called my bank and the bank says the card isn't activated. The bank activated my card and then they tried the transaction again. Declined again. The owner gets very upset, starts yelling at me and the bank rep because she thinks she's getting charged fees every time it declines. The rep is telling her that only two attempts are shown but they are unprocessed so there wouldn't be a charge. Only charges apply to processed transactions. I tried the two other cards using chip and tap on the Square device and all were declined. At this point I'm pissed off because I have money in the bank and this isn't my problem! I even showed her my bank balance so she knew I have money in my account. I probably didn't need to do that, but I had hit my frustration level. I suggested to her that maybe something is wrong with the Square, maybe it's a bad connection and it's timing out. She says no it's fine it's been working before me. I feel extremely annoyed because I just came to have a service done and pay for my service like I always have and go on with my day and get back home to my family. I even asked if I could just pay her via Venmo or Cashapp or Zelle. She said no. She doesn't have any of those. So finally, I ask if I can just try the Apple Pay system and tap my phone and guess what--it worked. So whatever fees she was trying to get around paying, she probably had to pay anyway somewhere along the line. I gave her a very generous tip, which in hindsight, I definitely should not have. Moral of the story: Don't put up with anybody's CRAP! If business owners you deal with aren't clear and professional about communicating their expectations for their customers when it comes to payment especially, then be sure to ask up front so that you're prepared or don't even bother with them and go somewhere where you won't have to deal with this type of crap. It's no different than owners posting "cash only" or "no Apple Pay" or "No Amex" etc. on their doors and at the checkout desk so people know the expectation from the very beginning. Business owners, please know the details about the payment systems and devices you are using. This was supposed to be a quick, painless and drama-free experience as it had always been for me in the past, but unfortunately I didn't get that this time around AND paid for it WITHOUT a thank you nor an apology. Just plain rudeness and extreme unprofessionalism. On top of it, another customer came in behind me and the lady who provided my service started talking shit about the situation to her! It's sad and disappointing, but it's definitely not surprising. It's quite apparent to me that the professionalism has been lacking at this establishment over the years and it all came to a peak today. It saddens me to have to leave this review and go elsewhere, but I WILL NOT be yelled at and abused by anyone, especially where I spend MY hard-earned money. I know for a fact there is plenty of talent in this area that will provide exactly what I need without the unprofessionalism, hassle and the abuse. My time and my money is just as good and just as important as anyone else's! Take heed and proceed with caution.

This review is in reference to her shockingly poor customer service, not the salon itself or any of the other stylists. Due to COVID-19, appointments could no longer be scheduled using the app, clients were required to e-mail stylists in order to schedule, completely understandable. On August 12, 2020, I had an appointment scheduled for 11:00 am, upon arrival at the salon, there was a notice posted on the door that Shy had a personal emergency and would have to reschedule. I live about 30 minutes away from the salon, and although disappointed that I wouldn't be getting my hair styled that day as expected, I was more concerned that my stylist was ok and in good health. I emailed Shy before driving back home, I said I hoped that everything was ok and to please let me know when I could reschedule. A few days pass, it's now Saturday, August 15, and I haven't received an e-mail response, so I decided to call her other location, Fells Point, because I'm not sure if Shy was still experiencing an emergency and I didn't want to be a bother. I was able to get an appointment with another stylist at the Fells Point location the very next day, perfect! It's Sunday, my service appointment went well, to my surprise Shy called the stylist who serviced me and told her to give me a 40% discount, it wasn't unexpected, but I appreciated her doing that. Later Sunday evening, Shy emailed me and apologized for the cancellation, again appreciated the personalized customer service. We emailed back and forth about my current style and discussed ideas about what I wanted to do next. During the conversation, Shy informed me that she'll be back to work fully starting the first week of September and that online booking would be back up as well. Fast forward to August 21, I happened to be browsing the app and noticed that a few September dates had opened up - one of those dates being the 9th, so I thought maybe she opened her book early, but I wasn't sure so I decided to email her for clarity - I desperately needed an appointment for September 4th as I have an event to attend on the 5th, so I emailed her to see if she had any availability on that day, as since the beginning of the pandemic, this has been our primary source of communication. Her auto-reply says to give her 24 hours for a response, again me not wanting to be a bother, I wanted to give her ample time to respond. On the morning of August 25, I decided to call the Federal Hill location, because I really need to secure an appointment for my upcoming event. A woman answers the phone and I'm greeted with "Shy Watters Hair Studio," I asked "hey, is this Shy," she responds "yes, may I ask who's calling" and in a jokingly manner, I responded "hey, this is Nickole don't mean to stalk you," and then the line immediately disconnects. I'm thinking it must be a mistake, Shy wouldn't hang up on me, what would be the reason? I'm just calling to get clarity on her availability. I called back 45 minutes later just to be sure, and received no answer. And to date, she has not replied to my email from August 21. I'm writing this review as a buyer beware, yes, the salon is great, Shy does do great work, that is not up for debate. However, the way that she handled the situation was poorly done and in bad taste. I have never experienced such terrible customer service. Unfortunately, I will no longer be able to support her salon or brand. Hanging up on customers (unwarranted, might I add) is unacceptable and unprofessional. Treat your clients with more respect.
