Ridiculously pleased with my massage here! I purchased a voucher for the body butter massage here mainly out of curiosity because I've never had anything massaged on my body but oil (by a professional at least *snickers*) and the fact that there were such great reviews about this place that I wanted to see for myself. I had the honor of being worked on by none other than Missi herself and have to say that my experience was nothing short of stellar. I was advised to arrive a few minutes early for my first visit for the intake process which was very professional. There was a two page packet to fill out with questions about stress levels, high tensions areas as well as any surgeries and medications I'm taking-all of which demonstrate a high-level of concern for delivering the best customized massage experience. The massage room was clean and smelled wonderful and inviting. I was offered water when I first arrived and I loved how Missi always erred on the side of caution when it came to body exposure. Although I'm not shy about my jiggle, some clients can feel uncomfortable about having their body exposed. Missi displayed courtesy of this in her operation of holding the blanket up during position reversal and also exiting the room after providing me with some of the body butter product to apply and rub on the "close to intimate" places that some may feel uncomfortable having another individual touch. Knowledgeable, courteous and thorough sum up my classification of Missi Kibelbek and also justify my intent to go back soon! If I could be massaged all day every day, I would. If it could be Missi doing the massaging, even better! I purchased a deal to try out her double butter massage and wrap to use during my self pampering Baltimore weekend. I'm so glad I did! I don't know Baltimore well, at all. At least I didn't when I first got there on Saturday morning. I ended up parking on a street FULL of Christmas decoration. Crazy decorations like christmas trees made of hub caps, and one made of records, and a natty boh house, and the entire block was like this. Turns out, that's a famous Baltimore Street (34th) in Hampden. It's been in commercials, and stuff. Hampden itself is a super cute cozy bohemian jewel. On to Missi! I get to her upstairs office space and am immediately greeted and lead into a perfectly decorated dim zen-erific room. I filled out some basic paperwork like emergency contact, allergies, where i hurt, what i want out of the massage etc. She also asked what I do and made sure to figure out where to focus. Awesome! The massage was so great and relaxing. Missi used the perfect amount of pressure and made sure to ask if it was too much - it wasn't! She was also a joy to talk to! The shea butter wrap ending to the experience was super relaxing, I was shocked when the 7 minutes were up! All in all, I felt great, and it was a really pleasing experience! I'm thrilled to have Missi as my new massage therapist. I'm also a massage therapist, and because of that, I'm picky about pretty much every aspect of the bodywork experience. Her location couldn't be more convenient (on the Avenue in Hampden), the decor is well chosen and soothing, and there's plenty of space. She's friendly, kind, and thorough in establishing a treatment plan. I felt comfortable both talking to her and also just zoning out (which can be tricky: some MTs talk the whole time and don't let you relax, other ones don't talk enough to establish a rapport, or at least make you feel comfortable enough to know you can just relax. She clearly gets it.) Her touch is precise and intuitive, and she moves from strong to gentle where needed. It's obvious that she's able to do very deep work, which will be great when I can actually handle it. Yesterday, my body was on fire from months of overdoing it, and after my 90-min session, my arms feel about two inches longer, the burning sensation is gone from my shoulders, and my shoulder blades are sitting much closer to where they should be (ie: on my back, and not touching my ears!). I'll be recommending Missi to my own clients when I'm booked or on vacation, and I'm already looking forward to my next session. Highly recommended! read more

I've had nothing but good experiences here. I got a groupon for myself last year for 2 massages and missi was super accommodating when I committed a faux pas and gifted one of the massages to my friend as a graduation present. Missi's graciousness saved me from a ton of embarrassment. Their regular prices are normally too high for my taste but then I saw that they did fertility massages and thought I'd give that a try since I'm ttc. Noni brown was fantastic and totally changed my attitude around! I was a different person after that massage. I can say that the massage was life changing and now I'm thinking about getting the 4 pack deal. There is literally, LITERALLY, no one better. And that is what I tell anyone that wants a massage or talks about sore body issues. I accidentally discovered Jeremy through a gift several months before my wedding. I had always viewed massages for relaxation, but Jeremy and I started discussing some goals I had before the wedding - improved posture, relieve wedding anxiety, heal triatholon training injuries, etc. - and he jumped right in and started getting me back to health. I had no idea how bad my body was, from years of work stress and hunching over a computer, as well as years of running-related injuries. I am a complete wimp but Jeremy let me set the pace and as someone else mentioned, identified issues I did not even know I had. He knows more about physiology and the interworking of mind and body than any doctor I have ever met. I tell this story which gives a good "aha moment" picture: one day I went to him and did not tell him that I was having soreness from that week's running in my leg. He was starting the session with my back, and I heard him say, "hmmmm..." Next thing I knew, he touched the sore part of my leg and asked, "are you sore here?" He knew immediately that I was having secondary issues in my back due to poor performing muscles in my legs, and corrected it for me in that one session. Five years ago, Missi worked out a kink in my back which was causing pain to run down my arm. I never stopped visiting and have been a regular ever since. There are only two parts of visits with Missi that give me grief: first, when the session ends, and second, the notion that Missi will never have the luxury of a massage by Missi. She is superb! I love that she has a Bachelor's degree in Anatomy; she can convey what is going on in a way that I appreciate. Her place is cozy, down to earth, and smells delicious. It is also easily accessible: parking is never a problem and it is right off of I-83. I consider this my treat to my self and derivatively, my family. I spend my hard earned money wisely (books, education, good food) and consider a regular massage by Missi to be an important part of my sanity and health. read more

I went to Missi after I purchased a Groupon for the organic sugar scrub and shea butter wrap. The place is upstairs in a row home on the avenue in Hamden. Very clean and tidy, nicely decorated. I beleive it is just she and an esthetician who work there. The massage was great. The scrub was great. The wrap was great. Missi is a professional and was able to concentrate on my needs/wants. There was a little difficulty with the sugar scrub as everything is done in one room and she relies on the customer to assist with removing the sugar-laden towels from the table while she keeps you covered. But when i left i was relaxed, i felt good and i was super soft all over. Missi also sent a thank u card to my home a few days later. I would definitely recommend her!! read more

Jeremy was my therapist for both acupuncture and deep tissue massage while I was on assignment in Washington, DC. I had never had acupuncture before and it helped tremendously with edema, neuropathy in both lower legs and hands. As for the deep tissue massage therapy he is the best I've ever had - and I've had a lot of massages in California and Texas as well as DC. Regular biweekly acupuncture and massage kept me working and active my entire stay in Washington DC. i was visiting from out of town, as I often do, and was in desparate need of some bodywork. Between my stressful life and lots of car travel I was in pain. I researched several spas in the area but came up empty. So I decided to go shopping in Hampden instead. I'm so glad I did! I saw the sign hanging over the door and read that it was by appointment only so I went in to make an appointment. As luck would have it Merle could take me right away if only for 30 minutes. I used a groupon to get a sugar scrub and body wrap with Missi. I was totally stoked on the whole experience. The ambience was really nice and relaxing. Missi makes her own scrub and it was awesome. It totally made my skin so smooth and it smelled awesome. The shea butter wrap was sweet! She literally puts the shea butter all over your body and you can feel it soaking in as you get wrapped in plastic and relax in a warm cocoon. She had emailed me to bring loose clothes to wear after as you are pretty slippery with oil when you leave and she suggested that you let the butter stay on as long as possible. I left glowing. I knew an experience at MIssi Kibelbek's would be amazing, since I went there recently for a delightful massage and wrap by Missi herself and it was really wonderful. I knew I'd be back - and when things got really stressful for me in the past few weeks I knew it was time for me to return. I booked a 90-minute massage with Merle Davison because it was the perfect time for me and what a gift of serendipity that was! It came as no surprise at all to me that Ms Davison is also a sculptor, as I knew I was in the hands of a talented artist from the very start. With all of her intuitive and skillful maneuvers, I was able to relax in a much more profound way than I've been able to in a very long time. I've still got "work" to go, but this is the kind of job I'll gladly pay to do - because so long as I am on her table, she will be "Magic Merle" to me. Missi has strong hands and very good technique. I went for a groupon sponsored massage-shea butter body wrap. I did not like the smell of the butter and felt somewhat uncomfortable on the plastic sheet the clients lie on.( a plastic sheet is used instead of regular sheets due to the greasiness of the butter.) It may be that so many clients have come for the identical groupon that her work was rehearsed and like clockwork. You may or may not like that aspect. read more

Jeremy is an amazing massage therapist. Sometimes you get a massage and you leave thinking... meh? But after one of Jeremy's massages I always feel amazingly better, and somehow like I have grown.
