Walking by this salon on a cold rainy day, we saw the sign in their window about hair tinsel, and my niece and I decided we're going to bring this hair trend back. We popped in, and in short order I was in the chair having three strands of copper tinsel added. My niece went with a mermaid color which was a beautiful contrast to her dark hair. The hair stylist tinseling us was incredibly sweet and efficient. I can't speak to the salon's other services, but I would definitely return for more tinseling in the future. read more

I have to say how disappointed I am with this salon. My hair was over processed i was left unattended for way too long. The salon owner turned it around like it was all my fault. She stated my hair was gray, taking medication ,my age and I knew the risk. YOU go to a salon for professional services not to be belittled for the mistakes the stylist made. Customer service is awful and pretentious. Located on Main Street this place has no designated parking. Arrived at my lashes fill appointment on time but place was packed at 6 pm. Called at 615 said still looking for parking and they informed me that they will not be able to do full set and will do " what they can" I explained I would pay extra because have an event next day. Called them to reschedule and lady on the phone said no appointment available next day and they will charge me a fee for missed appointment. After moving to MD, it took me a long time before I found a place I felt comfortable with getting my eyebrows done and high quality facials. Nathan is hands down the best I have found in my search! The first appointment, he asked about my previous experiences and what I wanted rather than just diving in for a generic wax. He mapped my brows and showed me what shape would work best for my face, checking in at every step of the process before moving forward. I also got them tinted and we came up with the perfect shade that wouldn't overpower my light complexion. As far as facials go, the variety of treatments for various skin concerns can be overwhelming, but Nathan helped guide me in the right direction in what to choose. Everything from the express to the signature facial is a full treatment that will leave you feeling amazing. I had Melissa and the results are absolutely amazing! My hair was over processed, super dry,and in serious need of help. At the same time I wanted to try transitioning to the salt and pepper color at my roots. She knew exactly what she was doing and the results are phenomenal! A super natural looking silver highlights and color that blend right in with no visible transition from the root. I'm very impressed with her skill! I have been a client at Gloss for a little over a year and a half. I have had a wide range of services there, all of which were exceptional. Lauren and Nathan have been wonderful and are very skilled. LAUREN - Before seeing Lauren, my hair was extremely dried out and damaged from decades of bleaching. The health of my hair has improved greatly since I have started seeing her. In addition to my regular cut and color, she has also done my hair and make-up for formal events, and she has never disappointed. NATHAN - I love that this salon offers a wide variety of services, including brow wax services. It is very convenient, and I can always trust that Nathan will do a great job. I have done brow wax, tint, and henna since becoming a client. I have extremely thin eyebrows, and many salons have made me feel self-conscious, and some salons have even been extremely insulting. However, Nathan has great customer service and both the tint and the henna have completely transformed the look of my brows. I completely trust this studio and their staff. They are extremely welcoming, and the salon itself is gorgeous, impeccable, and relaxing. I have been going to Gloss Hair Studio for 2+ years. Today I was late for my appointment by 15 mins (traffic) and I was told I would have to pay a fine of 50% of the treatment I had booked for (not a small amount), before I could re-schedule another appointment. I have never heard of such a policy from Gloss or any other hair studio I have been to. They are running a a nice scam here. Will never go to Gloss hair studio again. Beware. read more

I had a great first visit to Gloss visiting my long time stylist Brooke. The salon is light and bright. The moment you enter you notice it is quiet in comparison to other salons. The big bright windows invite in the natural light. You are personally greeted, offered wine or other beverages and can sit or browse some of the fun accessories on display. The Oribe and Kevin Murphy products used during your shampoo are luxurious and make you feel like you are visiting a spa. I've followed Brooke for a reason;she is a talented stylist who listens to her clients likes and needs. She knows exactly when to offer a change or update to keep your look fresh , and is honest about how ideas will ( or will not) play out on your hair texture. I book several appointments out because I know once people find Gloss, they will love it as much as I did! read more

This is one of those interesting salon where it's really small and out of the way and you're not sure if they can handle your crazy mane, but they kind of did. To be fair, I do have kind of difficult hair, but I do try to find salons that have the hair products that work best with it to make it easier on the salon. I think the disconnect came from the front desk guy who always looked at me like I was crazy and was faux-friendly. It also came from that's not really being a blowout salon so it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but it still worked. It seem like the perfect set up, but they were just little things that kept adding up to this not being a perfect experience. The girl at wash my hair didn't do a great job, she really didn't have good washing skills, but she was super sweet. And the stylist that did my blowout couldn't finish it without a flat iron which I consider to be not really a great blowout but was also so great. Some of the people were extremely nice, some needed a little bit of customer service work, but I would recommend the salon if you don't have difficult hair. read more

I want to first preface this by saying this is in no way a bad review but a very disappointed one. I was promised they could do what I wanted and I feel like they did not follow through. I like many things about gloss hair salon and they do many things very well but this is a warning to those looking to get custom color extensions especially red with Slavic hair. I went to gloss wanting long red hair extensions I am a natural blonds so I a have find hair but a lot of it, I ended up getting Indian hair extensions installed with machine wefts and hand tied wefts custom colors to "match" my hair. The first time it did not match my hair at all it was clearly copper and I was very very unhappy and I did not loke the hair texture or the fact the only style I could use was to curl it or the color and length different was too obvious. The second redo the custom color did not match but I felt bad and did say I liked it but again it was not a exact match and since they were coloring my hair and my extensions my expectation was it would be an exact match to I could wear the hair curly, straight, up or down. Again, it was also Indian hair so it was drastically a different hair texture than mine and extremely hard to get to look good in any style than down and curled which was not my expectation. Additionally, the extensions from the initial install were horribly spilt ends all over and I found quite a few grey hairs in them too. I was concerned about the numerous split ends since the more research I did the more I found it could damage my hair and it was very hair to work with the hair. I follow all the care instructions carefully from the start. I also was concerned because I had great difficulty putting my hair up without the beads and weft showing, and I expressed prior to getting them I needed to put my hair up during workouts and I was told I would be able to without them showing. I emailed my concerns and sent pictures and did not receive a resolution. My warning to others is if you are looking for custom extensions to exact match color and texture do your research. I feel like I wasted quite a lot of money and time. read more

I've been wanting to go " caramel "for a long time now ... and have been apprehensive because every time I go light my hair ends up turning orange ... I haven't gone to the salon in almost 5 years keeping my hair dark brown and low maintenance- However when I got wind that @missymisdemeanor_ opened @gloss_hair_studio I had to reunite with the master herself!! . . . She is the only one who knows how to lighten my hair properly and on top of that gave me the best haircut I've ever had She assured me that it would take a few times to get to exactly where I wana be but I already love it soo much If anyone is looking for a new stylist and a new salon check out @gloss_hair_studio . I went to Missy with all over red, and I mean red, hair and wanted blonde back. Missy took it on, as excited as I was for the change. She talked me through the process and what could be accomplished at the first visit and where it can go at the next visit and so on. She is so meticulous with her placement and a true master at color and tone. I am so amazed at how she was able to keep my blonde cool. That red did not pull through to turn it brassy. She's amazing... and the salon is fabulous and the music always great, definitely adds to the vibe of the salon read more
