I am so very grateful to Dr. Rose and the team at Serenity Holistic Vet. Our girl, Nikka, is a 12 year old Husky/Shepherd mix and she recently developed some hind leg soreness/stiffness and urinary incontinence. We took her to a conventional vet to rule out UTI/kidney issues and had X rays done to ensure there was nothing grossly abnormal structurally with her bones. Everything checked out and I knew I didn't want to start her on a medication with significant side effects or have her on pain meds indefinitely, so I searched for holistic vets who did acupuncture and was so happy to see Dr. Rose was local to us! . On our first visit, Dr. Rose did a thorough exam of Nikka and informed us that Nikka had an unusual heart murmur. A different vet at a conventional clinic that had seen Nikka just a few weeks earlier also mentioned the heart murmur but said it was very mild/quiet and didn't seem concerned about it all and didn't give us any indication that it needed to be investigated. I thought that the murmur must be no big deal based on how the first vet handled the finding. Dr. Rose immediately told us that Nikka's heart murmur was quite pronounced and unusual sounding and she gave us a lot of info and recommendations on next steps. . Well, today we took Nikka to a cardiologist where she had an ECHO and it turns out she has dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), which, thankfully, has been caught early and might be able to be improved with medication and dietary changes. . Dr. Rose literally saved Nikka's life with her attention to detail, her excellent clinical skills, and her prompt and informative follow up and recommendations. I will be eternally and forever grateful to her competence and expertise. . Nikka has also had 2 sessions of acupuncture and cold laser/photobiomodulation and she definitely has more pep in her step. Nikka also loves coming to Serenity Holistic Vet, she isn't anxious or nervous and just settles right down and relaxes when the acupuncture needles are in. Our sweet Lilo tore her ACL last November, I took her to a vet near me and was quoted over $5,000 for surgery to repair it. This vet has helped my cats with Stomatitis and FIV when my conventional vet has pretty much given up. I highly recommend them (I will explain into detail below if you want to read the details). The staff is professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable about what they do. The office is small but clean and always has a calm and welcoming atmosphere-and that's even when there is more than myself there. They have two exam rooms (one is in the picture) and both have low beds for your pet. The decor is minimal but pleasant. Floors are concrete and it seems that my cats love the cool floors. The initial consultation may seem a bit expensive (over $150 when I first took my cats) but I would definitely say it's worth it. My biggest complaints are that I wish they were closer-it takes me nearly an hour each way from the Hemet area to get to them. And I wish I had found them much sooner. The most important thing I would like to suggest to someone that is new to holistic treatments is this-don't expect immediate results. Be patient. Sometimes it takes a while for treatments to help in such a way that we (the humans) can see. I'm so glad I have been patient although the staff can confirm I've gotten impatient at times. We want to see our furry companions feel better immediately, not in a month or more. Violet (the gray cat in the pics and wearing the goggles) was the first cat I took here. She was diagnosed with stomatitis around October of 2021. She was a mess-wouldn't really eat, her mouth was constantly red and infected, and she was just miserable. My conventional vet prescribed steroids to help with the swelling and suggested extracting the majority of her teeth. I was against pulling her teeth as prior experience had told me that it does no good in helping the disease, and so I waited. We tried all sorts of things I could find on the internet and the vast majority didn't help. Her steroid use was constant-sometimes a daily dose just to get her to eat. Seven months later I gave in to my vet's recommendation and we had her teeth pulled behind her canines. And guess what? It didn't help. She still needed the steroids far more often than she should and I was left scouring the internet for something else. I found a set of products that helped us get her steroid use down but it was still a weekly thing. I finally found Serenity Holistic vet on the web and made an appointment. It was suggested by Dr Rose that we start Violet on laser treatment around her mouth and we did so. I take her in as often as I can but with the hour drive each way it's not as often as I would like. Dr. Rose also prescribed a Chinese medicine and a supplement. She has been on this and the laser treatment since her first visit back in May and I'm excited to say I'm really seeing results. She's acting more like her old self and her best run without steroid use was nearly two months! The second cat I took in was Mr. Sniffles. He's an outside stray that adopted me a few years ago. At some point of being outside he contracted FIV and my conventional vet has many times hinted that euthanasia was the best course for any FIV cat. Before I took him to Serenity Holistic Vet I was giving him immune support as well as a thyroid support. He was surviving on my treatment but not thriving. He was extremely underweight, his coat was mangy and dull, and he would get flare ups of an upper respiratory problem where he would sneeze so much that he would get a bloody nose. He's only been to Serenity Holistic Vet once, back near the end of August and Dr. Rose recommended we do some bloodwork since it had been quite a while (conventional vet didn't suggest more bloodwork since we knew what his problem was). The bloodwork revealed some other stuff and Dr. Rose has gotten Mr Sniffles on a couple of Chinese medicines and a couple of supplements. It's only been a little over a month but it seems like he's gaining some weight-finally! He's still sneezing and gets his bloody nose but perhaps not as often. As I stated before-be patient for results. The last cat I've taken is Butch. He was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer by my conventional vet. I got him into Serenity Holistic Vet within a couple of days and Dr. Rose got him started on some Chinese medicines. I didn't expect a miraculous recovery but was just hoping for some more time. Sadly, about a week later he crashed and passed. I really think we got him into the conventional vet and had him diagnosed too late to really do any good-it was that far advanced. I include this example to illustrate the importance of being realistic. Serenity Holistic Vet is great and I will continue to take my animals there but they aren't able to create miracles. Our pup is a 9 year old lab mix named Mace. He's been dealing with severe allergy issues his entire life to the point where his entire body was covered with raw sores and missing hair. He would get infected and licked constantly. In an effort to help him, we tried EVERYTHING...visiting every "specialist" in the valley, paying for expensive allergy testing, rX diets, antibiotics, steroids, shots, diet changes with homemade food, raw food, slowly changing types of foods, medicated baths, etc. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars to do this, and yet, Mace never got better, only worse. This went on for YEARS. We were feeling defeated and it hurt to see our poor little pup in such a miserable state. Then came along Dr. Samantha Rose! She spent time with him, learned about his history, and really dove into trying to help him. I could not be happier with the results and care from Dr. Rose and her staff. I am so grateful they are in my area, and actually close to home. Earlier this year, we discovered via X-rays that Lexi, our almost 10 year old Doberman, had developed spondylosis deformans in her lower vertebrae. It's a degenerative disease where bone grows inbetween the vertebrae. She was still functioning well, just stiffness and sometimes you could hear her back feet scrape the floor. We started her on anti inflammatories. Then in the beginning of August, she started to get worse. Her back legs were weaker and she would fall, splaying them on the ground, unable to get up without assistance. She would try to pee and fall down because her back legs were weak. We started to use booties on her back feet for traction, which helped, but she needed something else. I asked our primary vet about acupuncture after seeing some dogs' results on social media and they suggested Serenity Holistic. Lexi started acupuncture with Dr. Rose in mid August. We do weekly acupuncture visits. And within about 2 visits/weeks, definitely noticed a difference. Then, after about 4-5 weeks, we even took a break from using the booties on her feet and she is doing so well! We are now toward the end of November, and she has been peeing and gets up no problem. Our sweet girl Rascal herniated a disk two months ago. She was basically paralyzed in her two back legs and Could barley walk. I've been meaning to update my review since my 1st visit. My first time meeting Dr Rose was mid January ish when she came over to send our senior boy on to his next journey. Then my dog had Another uti being her 3rd in the past 12mo. I just want to add that we have not been an easy client for Dr Rose and her staff. My boyfriend thinks dogs can walk off their pain and illness which has been a huge huge stress for me as of course this is not my belief. Since then, Dr Rose and her staff have shown a genuine care for my nugget in ways I have never seen before. No vet will ever answer questions or help out in any way unless you make another visit appt. Not Dr Rose and her staff. They provide a concierge service where I send a text and someone always answers. Also, she is worth every single penny. The first visit costs a bit but after you will realize it was completely worth it because of the ongoing care they provide. They even let me bring nugget in to get her weight anytime needed. Months later after trying to get rid of my dogs oxolate crystals and no luck with even cooking her food and all the supplements I've been giving her, I've had to resort back to kibble in rx form in hopes of alleviating this issue till I can get her an ultrasound. I have to find a vet who offers that because Dr Rose does not YET unless someone comes to the house which is very expensive for me as I'm not working much due to personal reasons. I sent a text and they are happy to send an rx to help my nuggy out. When everything in your life is crumbling and the most important person in your life is battling cancer, just the little acts of kindness and empathy keep you going when you just want to give up. I was told by 7 other vets to put my dog down (Homer is a 2yr old frenchie) because he has IVDD (diagnosed on 2/12/24) The vets were telling me surgery is $15k and he most likely won't recover. We said no and asked for another option, they said meds and rest for 72hrs at most, but if there are no signs of improvement, then I would have to make the tough decision. Homer was unable to move his back legs or release his bladder/bowels in any way. My husband found Serenity Holistic Vet online and told me to just get one last opinion; if not then Dr. Rose offers an at home euthanasia option. I submitted an online request for an appointment. . Dr. Rose herself called me and said she wanted to see my little man right away... her only opening was her lunch break.. which she gave up for us!!! Who does that!?!? (Only a true and compassionate animal lover). She examined Homer and got to acupuncture treatment right away. In this 1 appointment, he stood up, took 2 STEPS towards me, and laid down in my lap to sleep through the process. Homer has gone to Dr. Rose for continued treatment of acupuncture and cold laser therapy. He has been weened off all medications and is now WALKING. He still stumbles here and there and cannot jump up on the couch, but from 1.5 months ago until now, Homer is alive and doing well... he walks like he is a little drunk, plays, runs, walks outside, relieves his bladder/bowels on his own, and still chases lizards! On the recommendation of my Internal Medicine Dr, I took my little Pebbles to see Dr Rose. She has stage 2 kidney disease and was not eating well and lethargic. Dr Rose lovingly evaluated Pebbles, did acupuncture, put her on some Chinese herbs, and ordered Lactated Ringers IV fluids to be given subq by me. They even showed me how. I visited Dr. Rose and her associates yesterday with my 14 year old Chihuahua mix. I was welcomed warmly, and seen in a timely manner. Dr. Rose was very thorough and asked of my concerns. After conversing she gave me her recommendations following her assessment. Shay(an associate) sat in the room with us typing away, getting all of the information then later emailed all the information to me. I so appreciated that as that can get confusing during an office visit. The office is very clean and very welcoming, not only for the pets, but their owners as well and very calming . I was so happy to find Dr. Rose. She gave our senior dog Bravo (15 years old) the most thorough checkup he has ever had. And she was so patient answering my many questions - at the appointment itself as well as afterwards. I haven't ever had such responsiveness. Her staff is amazing, too. They help facilitate the communication process and are both kind and knowledgeable. And this is the first time I've worked with a practice that utilizes all modes of communication - phone, email and text messaging!
