First, calling this a "spa" feels generous. We had planned a girls' spa day, and one of the amenities we were particularly looking forward to was the red light therapy that Truce advertises. When we arrived, we learned that the red light equipment had been recalled and was unavailable. No one had contacted us ahead of time to let us know. When I pointed out that guests should have been notified before their appointments so they could decide whether they still wanted to come, the response was essentially, "You never told us you wanted to use the red light." That is an extraordinary response when it is an advertised amenity of the facility. Guests should not have to individually announce in advance which advertised spa amenities they might like to use in order to be informed that those amenities are unavailable. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. Approximately three hours before my appointment, I called because I was dealing with a medical emergency and could no longer attend. I understood that Truce has a cancellation policy and that I might still be charged. What I did not expect was for them to make one of my friends pay my $160 massage fee -- despite having my credit card on file. Their explanation was that once I canceled, my card had somehow been removed or canceled from the appointment. If you are going to enforce a full-price cancellation charge, then charge the card the guest provided. Requiring another member of the party to pay someone else's $160 bill was unnecessary, embarrassing, and incredibly poor customer service. I have since contacted the manager twice, asking for something very simple: credit my friend's card for the charge and allow me to pay the $160 myself using my own credit card. Both attempts have gone unanswered. That is perhaps the most disappointing part. Mistakes and poor decisions happen. Good customer service is demonstrated by how a business responds when given an opportunity to correct them. In this case, management has had two opportunities to resolve a very straightforward issue and has simply chosen not to respond. The experience for the friends who did attend wasn't exactly luxurious either. The "relaxation room" apparently has no door, no snacks, no magazines or other touches one would normally associate with a higher-end spa -- just tea. Even worse, conversations from the front desk carried directly into the room, including a loud personal phone conversation that was decidedly not relaxing or professional. During the massage itself, loud bass/electronic music from the neighboring venue could be heard strongly enough to compete with the spa music. For a facility located in a high-end hotel in downtown Bellevue, the entire experience was surprisingly amateurish. A true spa experience is about more than providing a massage. It is the environment, amenities, professionalism, communication, hospitality, and attention to detail surrounding the treatment. Truce missed the mark on nearly every one of those things. We expected a relaxing girls' spa day. What we received was an unavailable advertised amenity with no advance notice, an astonishing response when we questioned that lack of notice, questionable cancellation handling, management that has ignored two attempts to resolve the resulting billing issue, a decidedly un-relaxing environment, and a level of service nowhere near what the location and pricing suggest. There are too many excellent spas in the Seattle/Bellevue area to justify paying premium prices for this experience.

The two staff members who helped us clearly were still learning the space, as they didn't even know how to turn down the lights in the area. I didn't mind it, but I found it comical that they were trying to seek help from a senior who wasn't answering their phones. Even though the location itself is old, everything was in working order and did what it needed to do. Second, the staff. Super nice ladies. We clearly had one new person, as the other was coaching her on what to do throughout the process. Their English wasn't the greatest, but it was good enough for the job. Mind you, I understand Chinese, but I don't have the look that would indicate I do. As a result, I typically like to stay quiet and listen. They were very polite and focused on the job, and figuring out how to lower the lights. Lastly, the treatment, was it the greatest I've had? No, I can't say it was. But I still left the place with the cleanest, softest hair, as one would expect after a head spa. To me, it was worth the money I paid for two 70-minute treatments. As long as you aren't expecting a lavender-smelling spa like one of the higher-end places, you'll be fine. They did what I expected them to do and they were super nice about it.

I was left there wondering what was going on until the second staff member finally came in to begin my session -- by then, my bestie's treatment had already started. During the head massage, there were several distracting moments. We heard people fumbling around for supplies, drawers opening and closing, and even a FaceTime conversation on speaker. It made the atmosphere feel more chaotic than calm. At one point, the lights came on mid-session while I was still finishing up and my friend had already completed her treatment. It interrupted the experience and took away from what was meant to be a soothing service. Afterward, there was no clear communication about what to do next. We waited for a while until someone came into the changing area to tell us we would be getting our hair blow-dried. As we followed them, my friend tripped over a poorly placed chair footrest and fell into a countertop. The counter was barely secured and came loose, forcing her to hold it up so it wouldn't fall. Staff ended up propping it up temporarily with a chair until it could be fixed. Thankfully she wasn't hurt, but it was definitely a safety concern. Although we purchased this through Groupon at a discounted rate and were excited to try it out, the experience felt uncoordinated and far from relaxing. While we appreciate the effort from the staff, there were just too many small issues that added up. Unfortunately, we're not likely to return.

Kathy did a wonderful Swedish massage for her with hot stones leaving her relaxed and unstressed. While I was waiting in the reception area I saw many regular patrons who seemed equally happy with their therapists as well. Although we've treated her to massages at spas while she never uses the spa facilities it was great to be in a setting where you aren't needing to pay for those expensive facilities and instead they are just focused on a really good massage.

Kathy's pressure is very precise and you can really feel how attentive she is. She really listens and understands where the body needs more attention. Overall, everyone here is professional and skilled, and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. Definitely a great place to come for a massage.

She talked me through everything she was doing and was very accommodating to my preferences such as turning on the fan for me as I was feeling warm. Madi gave me a wonderful pedicure. I had stopped getting pedicures for a very long time after having issues with ingrown toenails but she 100% gave me hope that I can continue to get them again. The entire staff is wonderful and I love that this place is AAPI and Female owned!! I live in CA, but I definitely see myself stopping by here whenever I'm in WA. I have been having a really bad pinched nerve cause my upper left side with an excruciating pain and a deep tissue hoping it would help. The lady asked if it's ok to have a male massage person and I said it was fine. I just wanted a good and relaxing massage that would help with the pain. I got 60 mins deep tissue with oil and the massage person knew what he was doing. The pressure with oil and hot stones helped a lot.

Nice, clean place with large massage rooms. They accommodated me as a walk in, I had a 15 min wait for service and the massage therapist was good. Overall, I'd give it a solid B+ for service and experience. The only reason not to give it an A is that the bathroom is outside and it was cold.
