I arrived for my appointment early and the stylist greeted me cheerfully and had me take a seat at her station. She asked lots of questions about how I wanted it cut to make sure we were on the same page. It was a Friday evening and there were no other stylists working, so the salon was nice and quiet. The place was very clean and decorated in a nice minimalist style that I liked. The stylist was very personable and charming; I enjoyed talking to her as she cut my hair. When she turned me around to see my new hairdo, I was a bit shocked by how short it was. I could see she did an excellent job cutting it precisely as we'd discussed, but one thing we forgot to talk about was how much to take off. It's the shortest it's ever been. She was so nice and worked so hard on my haircut I didn't want to say anything about the short length. It worked out okay because here I am a week later loving it. I don't think I've ever had such a clean, even haircut and it's a dream to style (takes less than five minutes). I'll like it even more in about a month when it grows out a little.

This review is for Kalani. I first met her at my friend's wedding since she was the makeup artist…read morefor the bride and bridesmaids. It wasn't an easy task because we were on a bit of a time crunch but somehow she was still able to get it done and all of the girls looked gorgeous. That's why when I found out that she does hair as well, I knew that I could trust her. I messaged her on Instagram and she responded immediately and set up a time. I hadn't dyed my hair in about half a year and so my roots were growing out and was becoming a bit on the copper/yellow side so I asked for caramel brown highlights just so that my hair color would look more consistent as parts of my hair was extremely dark while others were very bright. The price for balayage is fair at $175. Kalani's always been very cheerful and social and overall just great to be around. After my hair was done, I addressed my concern of my hair always becoming too light shortly after getting caramel brown highlights (it turns a yucky yellow blonde) and so she she said in about 8 weeks I could come in to get my hair toned or if there's ever any issues, to feel free to text her. She's big on following up and I believe she gets booked quickly which is why she's always trying to be a step ahead of her clients. The amount of professionalism she offers is incredible. I definitely see myself coming back again soon. I love how shiny and healthy my hair looks and can't stop flipping my hair back and forth like I'm in a Herbal Essences commercial!

He assured me his approach depended on what each person's hair needed, so I expected someone with substantial curly-hair expertise. While we did discuss my hair damage and goals, the actual service did not reflect that level of specialization. The styling was essentially gel raked through my hair and scrunched. An hour later, I had not a single defined curl, and it was a frizzy afro. What bothered me most was the confidence with which he emphasized his expertise and reviews, including telling me there's a reason he gets good reviews because he tells clients what they "need." Different stylists have different methods, but for $130, I expected curl-specific technique and attention to detail that simply were not there. I left feeling that his confidence in his curly-hair expertise far exceeded what the service demonstrated.

She's located in Studio 25 at the Sola Salon in Willow Glen. This was such an awesome set-up & was grateful for the ample parking & super clean salon. You can tell she takes care of her space & all of her tools. Upon my arrival, she was totally outgoing & easy to talk to. She asked what I wanted & simply put, I needed to cover my white hair ( like hella) & I wanted to darken my nearly blonde highlights. I showed her a picture of the color that I was looking for & she stated that it was a straight ombré look. She offered the ombré or a more subtle color with dimensions. I opted for the dimensions & loooove it!! She gave me exactly the change I was looking for. It was a lengthy process, however if you want it done right, you have to set the time aside. This was a well spent 3 hours (BTW, I have really really thick hair) on my Friday off. Price: totally reasonable. I highly recommend Jessica. She's a total gem.
