He was always very responsive, even on evenings and weekends (including one holiday weekend). He was very flexible and accommodating with scheduling (even though I had to ask him to juggle schedules several times to try to meet our needs), Jim is very knowledgeable, having done this work for decades - answering numerous technical questions and willing to provide his honest opinion and actionable advice. Jim is 100% honest and focused on his customers' needs. His pricing is very fair and the convenience of having him go to the car rather than having to take it to a shop is awesome. I will definitely call Jim the next time we are looking for a used car. Full disclosure, due to logistical issues on my end, I had to use another shop for our pre-purchase inspection service. We also had several false calls, where we were trying to jump on a car and lost it. (Jim was ready, nevertheless.). Absolutely not Jim's issue. (Ultimately, I needed a very particular set of tests for the car we bought and, as I learned from Jim, those tests cannot be performed in the field.) The inspection was fast and reasonably priced and revealed four fixes for an equally reasonable price, and that they understood my intent was to keep my 2008 Nissan Rogue going for as long as I could. I was able to get an appointment fairly soon after I agreed to the fixes. They also gave me a discount after I posted a review of the initial experience with the inspection. The fact that it's still leaking & could if left unchecked result in engine failure, would've been a disaster. The team at Auto Depot identified & photographed the area where the leak is & suggested we get the coolant system pressure tested to locate & repair the leak. The staff is knowledgeable, informative & their charges are reasonable. We will definitely return the next time we require service.

Emily's Garage is one of the Seattle city-approved vehicle safety inspection mechanics.  They offer…read moreASE-certified TNC inspections, pre-buyer inspections, diagnostic services, and general car inspections.  They have three locations - Everett, Tacoma, and Burien. For the vehicle safety inspection, I didn't have to make an appointment.  It was fine to do a walk-in. When I visited Emily's Garage, there was a customer who was pretty upset with the repairs and the cost.  I was able to hear what the customer had to go through but I would not comment on that as I have limited information. From my experience of getting my vehicle inspected, I was very surprised at how quickly they were able to complete the vehicle inspection.  It was done in less than 2 minutes, and I paid over $50 for that service.   For comparison, when I had my vehicle inspected at Les Schwab Tire Centers in Portland, they spent over 20 minutes to thoroughly inspect the vehicle and the cost for the inspection was only $20.   Will I re-visit Emily's Garage for the vehicle inspection?  Probably not but if the state requires me to get the vehicle inspection done, I will probably have no choice as there are not that many shops that offer the ASE-certified inspection.

I took my Mercedes in for just minor service, oil and filter, inspection, etc. The very next day drove home and oil was everywhere, see photos attached. I was obviously pissed and called them and had it towed back. Caleb was calm and let me know he would take care of it. They put it on the lift, located the problem, fixed it, and cleaned up the mess in and around the engine. It was a brand new O-Ring installed on the oil filter that failed. It was one of the rare "shit happens" incidents. He even gave me some oil sand to take home to use to clean up my garage. My trust has been reestablished with an auto service shop. She came back and asked if they could see it TOMORROW instead. The feeling of impending doom that comes with an unknown car issue, had my voice wavering on the phone trying to hold it together. I first went to a different shop in PA which sent me here because they thought the whole transmission was bad (I was skeptical of this because to me it really felt like the clutch was slipping, but I figured a transmission place would still be able to work on a clutch, whereas a regular shop might not be able to do transmission work if that was actually the problem). Bayview could have taken advantage of me because they knew I was stuck out of town and had a 2-3 week lead time for most work. They also could have told me that it was the transmission and charged a lot for fixing that. However, they agreed that it was just the clutch and got me in and out with a new clutch in under 2 days. Being a city slicker, I also ended up actually saving money overall, since labor charges are relatively low here compared to in Seattle. The new clutch felt great from the start (unlike the bad one that grated and crunched in 1 and R from the beginning, which the installers refused to acknowledge, despite the grating and crunching continuing for almost 2 years) and has been performing as expected since. If I ever needed a transmission rebuild that wasn't an emergency situation, I might honestly consider coming out here for the work and making a trip out of it. Also, the desk people were super nice!
