We stopped by yesterday in hopes of checking out the Somali museum downstairs; however it was…read moreclosed for the 4th of July. So we walked around the food court area, most of the stalls were closed. I appreciated the variety of eateries available. We spent time browsing the mini grocery area, where they sell various interesting items such as honey comb and Turkish delight. My friend bought dried chamomile flowers in bulk to make tea. It was only a quarter the price of buying chamomile tea bags! In the building were some interesting art sculptures. I really like mixed use spaces like this.

I love Midtown Global Market with all of my heart. I went…read morelast Friday for the first time in a while and have already been back 2 times already since then (it's now Monday). Midtown Global Market has been such a staple in my life. It does such a good job of having food options from so many cultures and parts of the world. The food is reasonably priced and the workers are all so kind and knowledgable. Beyond just food, there is a huge selection of art, groceries, clothing, and more. MGM has always felt like the ideal of what Minneapolis is and can be. I am sad to see a lot of booths closed right now. My heart aches for my neighbors and community. I hope (and know) that MGM can bounce back and continue to be a place of diverse community. Love MGM always.

This activity was so great that I've been telling everyone about it. That said, here are a few…read morerandom points about my visit. 1)While reservations were not required, I emailed them a week in advance for my group of 4. It was an easy process, and no deposit was required. 2)With so many scents, there's something for everyone. There are the ones you'd expect, like floral, citrus, spicy, and earthy. Then there are unique ones mimicking old books, leather, champagne, and a barbershop. You'd be surprised by the scents that go well together. For my scrub, I blended Grapefruit, Wasabi, Champagne, and a bit of cucumber. If you're unsure what to blend, the staff is very helpful. 3)I made wax melts and a sugar scrub. The wax melts took about an hour to set. I had the option of coming back before they close or another day. The scrub was made of brown sugar and a carrier oil that was scentless. I've since used it and love how it feels and how moisturizing it is. I also like that they used a shrink wrap to seal the lid and placed a tamperproof liner on the opening (see pics). Should I decide to make and ship one as a gift, I can feel confident about a safe delivery. There's so much more I can say, but I'll end with this... I love how potent my products smell, and I look forward to making more.

The experience itself was super fun: they had little clipboards set out for us to take notes on what scents we loved. Then we spend a good chunk of time smelling all of the different candle scents they had (had to be over 100)! I loved that they had coffee beans on hand for this part of the process. The process of combining scents to make the candle was clearly explained to us and the staff member running the experience was super friendly and helpful whenever one of us got stuck! Overall very fairly priced and with a wonderful selection of scents and products!

Duke Albert is a gem full of gems on Central. I'm so glad I realized that it was NOT a barber and…read morepopped in for some unique shopping. Walking in, I loved the decor which included neon lights and a big State Fair chalk mural (this is a belated review from the summer. RIP, summer). Duke Albert offers an assortment home goods, bath and beauty items, gift, trinquets, and even some vintage clothing from local artists and beyond. I ended up getting a plant hanger, enamel pin, and colorful skirt. Other tempting items of interest: local hand soap, cool candles with metal skeleton cores, silly cheese kit that they found in France, an antique stucco stamp, vintage games and posters. The owners (I assume) were really cool too, providing lots of info and even insight on where they found some of the unique treasures. I'll for sure stop in here periodically when I want something for friends but mostly myself.

Opening the door, the cozy scent of light incense and Palo Santo wafted into my nose. I knew right then it was going to be something a out of the norm. The dimly lid store had a cool, clean, modern mix with bohemian, zen kind of vibe. The kind of store I could personally hang out in for a good hour (or two) just for the smells and all the awesome random finds!! (If only the kids weren't with me today...) While it isn't really a kid geared store- I found something for just about every age group. It's a mix of (extremely clean & crisp) vintage trinkets and clothes, gorgeous more natural lines of personal care, a few beautiful cannabis based things, just funky randomness, classic & modern art, air plants in stellar wall hanging containers, jewelry, (did i mention cool vintage things that were immaculately cleaned??!) well made things I'd like for my next house...it just had a bit of a whole lot of really neat stuff. I'm definitely coming back- again & again. Probably every time I need to find a gift of something a little more unique for some of my cool friends that prefer unique random finds.
