I was very satisfied with my bridal makeup for my June 2023 wedding. Jori and her team are very professional and did such an amazing job! I had several troubles contacting them at first in order to receive a contract and put down a deposit, which was very frustrating in the moment. But once everything was finally sorted out I later had a bridal trial and then it was the big day! They traveled to a hair salon close to our venue in order to do my bridal party's makeup and hair simultaneously, but they would probably travel anywhere! They were on time, cleaned up all their supplies, and were very appreciative to their salon staff for using their space. I found their pricing fairly reasonable for bridal makeup services and I especially liked how the tip was included in the total price for both my trial and our day-of makeup services. My bridal party was pretty impressed and everything went very smooth the day of. read more

Yesterday was my birthday and this is how a $168 gift to myself turned into a complete failure. I had an eyelash extensions appointment with a different salon that was unexpectedly canceled last minute, therefore leaving me to call around town to find someone who could fit me in on such a short notice. I was able to connect with Jori (the owner) at roughly 1PM and was scheduled with Brier (the stylist) by 4PM. The service took roughly three hours to complete and this is the completed work.... I am astonished that my service turned out to be so horrible when a reviewer below had the same work done, by the same stylist, and had better results. The eyelashes were promptly removed this morning by a different salon because they were beyond repairing without starting over again. I believe I am making a reasonable/accommodation by request a refund for the cost of the service and allowing the stylist to keep the 20% tip for the products used. However, the owner disagrees and believes that I should be sympathetic to the stylist because she was able to accommodate me on a special occasion (as if I wasn't paying for service to be done) who is a contracted employee who rents out space in the salon. Lastly, the owner said I should accept a partial refund due the scarce amount of customers booking appointments due to the COVID pandemic. Additionally, the owner offered to give me the refund I am request in a form of a gift card to the salon to be used for other services but again, that is impractical given that I do not plan to return. I also find it unprofessional that Jori has stopped responding back to my messages to completely rectify the situation at hand. If you wish to get quality eyelashes done, I do not recommend Blush Beauty Room. (PS the last photo is the service/style of lash extension I as hoping to receive.) UPDATE: I stopped by the salon today to dispute the service in person and I received a full refund! Jori stopped responding back to my text messages (picture attached below) and this was the only option I was left with. Since she was servicing another client I offered to sell them the gift card instead to receive the refund back in cash to which she declined and directly refunded me instead. I will NEVER be coming back and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Also, she told me in person that she already reported this google review because it was false (pictures and text messages don't lie) and cursed me out as I was leaving... do better!! read more

Need to look your best for an event without spending a fortune? Come here. Need real-talk makeup advice from women just as likely to recommend $3 eyeliner as they are top-of-the-line foundation? You've found your place. Need a pair of earrings to finish your look? Yeah, they have those too. Basically, just visit Blush as soon as possible. I came to Blush to have my makeup done before a friend's wedding (you know...treat yoself) because it came recommended by a hair stylist friend of mine, and because their makeup application is priced at $30 for 30 minutes ($10 more for eyelash application), which is much lower than other places like Juut or M.A.C. The space itself is really welcoming, with lots of natural light, comfy furniture, and magazines (and complimentary chocolates!) to peruse on the coffee table. Blush is run by two female veterans of Bare Escentuals who ventured out on their own - oh hey, girl power - these ladies know the makeup business well, and it shows. As a makeup novice (seriously...I do mine in less than 5 minutes, with the same products I've been using since high school), I was preparing myself for a condescending attitude and being pressured to purchase expensive stuff I wouldn't even remember how to use. I was so wrong! There was absolutely no sales pressure; only explanations of which products were being used and why. I was really impressed by the business philosophy - during the application, I asked what kind of eyeliner was being used. The response? "e.l.f. You know, the stuff you can get at Target for $3". Used right alongside Bare Minerals products and other brands that cost significantly more. Their justification? Invest in products that are worth it, like a good foundation and long-wearing lipstick, and save those $$ on things that you're going to have fun and play around with, only to wipe it off and start over again. I left feeling like I'd gotten my money's worth, and then some. I was made up but not overly so, and I got so many compliments on my look. I plan to return soon for a skin care tutorial and to purchase additional products. And probably some earrings. And maybe some fake eyelashes. This could be a problem. read more

The owner Jori is cool... this is a no fuss place to get my eyelash fill. The hygiene of this place can be improved. I do agree with previous comments that sharing the bed right after another client without replacing the sheets can be a little uncomfortable. I sometimes wonder though if the same is happening when I go for my facial and massages. The process usually takes place in individual rooms so I may not know if they also do not sanitize the sheets after each client. With Blush, you should know that you are laying right in the middle of the room when others walk in. It is an open space concept. If Blush is reading this, they could maybe consider some layer of covers that could easily be removed and replaced after each customer, like the paper ones they have in clinics. My lashes are usually beautifully done and it lasts me at least 3 weeks. I like that they have lash packages that is cheaper than individual sessions that I can save a buck or two. Parking is never an issue for me here. There are lots of street parking available nearby. read more

Ok I wish I could give Blush Beauty Room more than 5 stars. I recently worked with them on a Prom shoot, and I cannot say enough about these talented ladies. As a photographer, I've worked with several makeup artists over the years, and these girls are top notch! I have not retouched the skin on any of the photos I took at this shoot, because their makeup was flawless. I love the way the shop is decorated - so clean and bright with girly chandeliers and details throughout. They use several different makeup brands, including Bare Minerals which I just love. Jori and Kelly are both fun personable girls and in my opinion need to have their own reality show bc I've seen their quirky goofy sides and I love it. You'll definitely have a great time getting your makeup done with your girlfriends at Blush with these two. I'll be recommending these gals to all of my Senior photo clients :) read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. However, the overall lack of professionalism and cleanliness was too much to ignore. Take a look around ladies. I went for eye lash extensions for my wedding. This included one application, one fill, and then I went back May for one last fill. When I arrived for my first application the owner Jori was 30 mins late to my appoint. 30 mins! So unacceptable. I should have been offered a free fill just for that alone. From speaking with the girl that hopped in to start my lashes, she and other employees were just trained in by the owner. No certification classes involved. No one ever had me sign any waiver or anything protecting them in case they poked my eye out or made me go blind. That was the second alarming thing. Although the surround decor is cute, the beds you lay on while they apply the lashes are covered what I like to call 'mystery blankets' and are not changed in between clients (Ewwww) The bathroom looked like a teenage girl lived in there exclusively for a month straight. There was make up, food dishes, and random stuff everywhere. In the 'back room' you walk through to get to the bathroom there's a bunch of stuff just piled up everywhere. Sorry but I've grown out of being able to look past such messiness. The schedule 'system' is non-existent. They absolutely need to get an online scheduler. They literally have a large BOOK that they write all the name and phone numbers down at the appointment time. What is this the 1950s? The two-three times I was actually there they overbooked themselves so their customers just awkwardly wait around in the open room. There is no formal waiting room. Sure, my eyes looked pretty good (besides a few lashes they managed to get stuck together), but I could not in my right mind go back to risk something bad happening to my eyes. I just need to stop. So many things wrong with this place. I cannot believe the Health Department hasn't shut them down yet. read more

I literally signed up for a Yelp account just so that I could review this business because I had the BEST experience EVER and would recommend it to anyone! The service was amazing from the minute I called to make an appointment to several days after. I found Blush in the MSP mag and called on Friday to make an appointment for makeup for a photoshoot I had the following Monday. (Read: 3 days in advance counting the weekend...) Kelly answered and told me while they're closed on Monday she was happy to get me in! Already WOW'd. I've only had my makeup done once for a wedding and didn't have a good experience so I was a little nervous. Kelly walked me through everything she was doing, checked to see if I wanted anything different when she was done, took pictures to show me how it would look photographed and when I wanted to purchase the lipstick she used, she found a similar one that was only 5 bucks! The eyelashes she applied lasted 4 full days and it took everything in me to wash the makeup off because I loved it so much. What a wonderful day my friends and I had at Blush! We did the two-hour party, which entailed a bottle of bubbly, candy, face masks and make-up application. It was like a slumber party, but during the day and with booze. Fantastic! We had the place to ourselves and really enjoyed talking to Jori and Kelly, browsing their products, and getting dolled up. Everyone was really happy with their look, but the experience was really the best part. They have some great products for sale too. I have attempted to purchase beauty products from this store twice now. The first time, they were unfortunately out of stock on all the bare minerals products I use. I was headed out on a trip so I needed the items that day. I attempted again to visit Blush, however, I found the store closed 20 minutes earlier than posted (I admit that Google Maps has flaws, but this time it was right). The entrance door also clearly posted 7 pm as their closing time, as does the stores voicemail message. These ladies took my birthday outing from great to fantastic. We had purchased a Livingsocial deal and were excited to see what it entailed. We were greeted with champagne and some Hershey's chocolates and the ladies took the time to explain who they were, how they get started in the business and what services they would be providing to us. We started with some masks and they encouraged us to look through the look books for inspiration or anything that we liked. I was really excited to get my lash extensions done after a friend of mine had gotten hers done here and looked great. They also had a great Groupon deal, which I thought was too good to pass up. Unfortunately, for my first appointment, I arrived 10 minutes early and was told they were running 5-10 minutes late and I actually ended up waiting for 30-40 minutes after my appointment should have started. No one even followed up to say it would take longer than 10 minutes. Once my appointment finally started, they did apologize for running late, but to wait that long seems inexcusable in my book. I also think they could improve on contacting people before their appointment. I received a text the day of, only a few hours before my appointment with prep instructions. Luckily, I've had lash extensions done before, so I knew more or less what I needed to do beforehand, but it would have been helpful to receive this information even a day ahead of time. They are also incredibly difficult to get a hold of. No one ever answers the phone and leaving a voicemail seems hopeless. They really need to adopt an electronic scheduling system that sends reminders and be more responsive to people trying to contact them. The lashes themselves were fine, but I unfortunately do not think it's worth all the hassle and would go somewhere else if you're thinking about getting lash extensions. read more

Bought a Groupon for lash extensions and a fill for about $100, have been wanting to try it, so I thought this was a great deal. Unfortunately, the first problem was the scheduling system. They were booking a month out! Wish my Groupon would have indicated that. Also, had to call many times to even make an appointment. No online system, no one answers the phone, takes a few days for calls to be returned. Frustrating. Finally, about a month after purchasing, went in for my extensions. Cute place with potential, but very dirty. The bathroom was full of junk. Didn't look like it should even be offered for customer use. First time getting extensions, not explained very well and the employees just gossiped to each other the whole time. All of that and my lashes did look good, for a few days. Could feel the glue irritating my eyes. Lashes started falling out and going in wonky directions. Not going to even bother going in for the fill. So disappointing! read more

I had learned about Blush through their ad/coupon in the Uptown Quarterly. I was quite nervous because although I feel confident with my daily makeup routine, I had no experience doing makeup that holds up under the bright lights of photography. My girlfriends and I went here to get masks and makeup done. There were three beautiful ladies there to help us as we enjoyed some wine and chocolate. We started with the masks, washed them off and then started on makeup applications. I love that you can pick any look you want, and each of us chose something different. And we each looked amazing! We left the shop with cards telling us what we were wearing and some other ideas for eye makeup applications. The shop of makeup, jewelry, scarves and other merchandise is also a nice touch and very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back with my makeup bag so they can help me use it to the fullest and let me know what I'm missing! I went to Blush to have my makeup done for my engagement photos and I could not have been happier with the end result. Jori was a blast to work with and got me in and out in 30 minutes. The staff uses the Bare Minerals line but trust me ladies, they know how to work with it! I've used BM at home before and was never able to build up to the flawless finish promised by the commercials. Jori worked her magic and achieved and amazing full-coverage, natural look that lasted the entire day. I called for an appointment for a makeup and eyelash application the day before I needed it, and they accommodated me. I will say upfront that I am quite particular about most things, especially make up! When I arrived, I found the salon/shop to be very cute and comfortable. They were very busy and I waited 15 minutes for my appointment and felt that the application was a bit rushed. Kelly was extremely nice, personable and professional. We discussed the look I wanted, and I felt she understood, but there were a couple of issues that she didn't really have time to correct completely. My brows were done unevenly; she quickly corrected them but I had to re-do them at home. She also used an eye shadow that was nearly the opposite of what we had discussed. She went over it quickly with another color, which didn't correct it. I almost liked the individual lash application but they were also uneven, and I should have had more lashes applied--it looked strange. We had also discussed my oily skin and I had shine-through very quickly. I really liked the lip stain she applied and wanted to purchase it, but they did not have it available for sale. I debated giving Blush Beauty Room either 2 or 3 stars and decided to go with 3 because the make up application was okay (I didn't wash all of it off at home), and I think I would have been happier with the service if we had more time together. It seemed they were overbooked and if they had not been, the experience would have been much better. I should note that when I called for a next-day appointment, there was no mention of squeezing me in between appointments. I would go back if enough time was allowed. I wanted to love this place, and although I really did like my experience here there were still some kinks that needed to be worked out. I have been getting eyelash extensions here for like 6 months, the first couple of times were great I went in for a 3 week fill and was totally fine between this time frame. Recently however, my lashes have been falling out a lot more quickly and for no reason, I haven't made any changes in my daily life and I needed to get my lashes filled every 2 weeks. I wanted to get one more fill before I moved to Philly, but my ENTIRE set of lashes fell out before I had the chance. They literally had no space in their schedule to accommodate me, which is frustrating but I get it because they are a busy salon. The one thing that really bothered me was their scheduling system, no one ever answered the phone, and they took a while to respond to messages. I would be sitting in the salon and would literally hear the employees talk about not answering the phone. Other than those minor things, I really liked the work that they did here and I will miss living close to this cute place! read more

This is THE place to go for makeup. I had my makeup done for my engagement photos and couldn't be more pleased. My appointment started late (2:10ish as opposed to the 2 PM appointment time), but it wasn't even a big deal. It took them about 30 minutes and that was with eyelashes. Seriously perfect. My makeup looked gorge and my fiancé and photographer loved it (of course I did as well!). They are so cheap too! $40 before tax and tip ($10 for lashes & $30 for the makeup application) which is way cheaper than anyone else I know of. I got my makeup done at Aveda for a friends wedding and it was twice the price plus my fake eyelashes started falling out the same day. Not with Blush. the makeup is lasting beautifully and no eyelashes falling out. I will also be going back to buy the jewelry from there (SO awesome!). If I have my wedding in MN I am going to come here for makeup. Highly recommended!!! And I am super picky so you know it's good. ;)) read more

Jori and the girls are FANTASTIC. I brought in a group of 10 ladies on our annual weekend. They made us all look beautiful. All of us had the biggest smiles on our faces for the rest of the night. Jori is seriously one of the most talented eyelash extension artists in the Twin Cities! I just had a fill yesterday and my lashes look AMAZING! Jori always asks about the look you're going for, and what you liked about your last fill, so she gets it right every time! My lashes last the standard 3-4 weeks without any problems, and I've never had any burning or itching. I think it's because Jori uses high quality products and doesn't 'over-apply' the lashes. She does my lashes just full and long enough to keep people guessing if they're mine or not :) They don't look over-the-top fake (a look I don't like), but my lashes are definitely noticed. It looks like I have amazing mascara on - even when I wake up! I love it! People know talent when they see/experience it, so Jori is in high demand! Consequently, they book up quickly! Best bet is to pre-book before you leave your appointment :) read more

Honestly the worst eyelash service I've ever had. I felt rushed, and scheduling was a nightmare. My eyelashes started falling out after 2 days and the scheduler/owner could not have been more rude, unprofessional and immature. I got an infection from the eyelash adhesive possibly due to unsanitary conditions. I wish I would have made sure to ask if the tools were cleaned and sanitized before I had my eyelashes done because they clearly weren't. I would absoluley not recomend Blush Beauty Room to anyone as there are many similar service providers with much higher quality employees and end product. read more

I'm going to be completely honest, my first experience was AWESOME. Jori was so sweet and personable, and my lashes looked pretty good the first time. I got home and had very bad irritation, a very bad stinging in my eyes. Thinking it was allergies, (which I've never had before) I just itched them/rubbed them. After they all fell out from touching my eyes, (I wasn't upset) and I called the salon and told kelly (I think that's her name) what the situation was and that at my first free maintenance I was going to need the time of a full set. She was understanding and said she will put me down for that. 2 weeks after I called, it was my appointment. Jori texted me at 4:15 when my appointment was at 5:30 and asked if I could come an hour before (or right when she texted me) like i wasn't doing anything (later found out that she did that because she wanted to go home and was originally going to cancel) I live 30 mins away, I got ready and quickly went downtown. I got there and Jori said "Okay we have 15 mins to do you because I have a client right after you." I was confused, and basically astonished because I called in a week before saying how I needed a full hour and a half to do a full set because I had an allergic reaction. I was extremely upset, that I came 30 mins to be told "ok hurry I'm only doing 15 mins to do you." My eyelashes were not near the length I wanted them so I asked if I could get longer ones. "These are the longest we have." I think she got offended that I was surprised they only went so long, and offensively started saying things like, "well any longer ones will make all your eyelashes fall off." (I researched this later and scientifically that's not true.) and my mom and many other women I know have very long eyelash extensions and are extremely full. (the way I wanted them) thus, pretty sure they don't "ruin your eyelashes" these women have had them on for years. The client that was right after me had come 15-20 mins late, so I did get that extra time but still not what a full set would take. I got home, and have a huge magnified mirror at my house, I was looking at them and realized they looked much shorter and looked very poorly done compared to my first time coming. (realize, she said she was doing the longest they had.) Looking closer, upset, I could see at least 15 eyelashes on each eye that had not been attached to an eyelash. So basically she just did a shit job because she overbooked herself. If you're looking for somewhere that does LONG and full eyelashes like falsies would do, this isn't your place. this is a place for very very natural eyelashes, basically just enhancing your real ones. read more

I bought a living social voucher for me and a friend to have our makeup done at Blush. My friend was getting married last Friday in a small ceremony at the courthouse so we decided to give this place a whirl. Boy am I glad we did. We had an appt and walked in at 11:00 we were greeted by two very friendly and beautiful women. Normally I might have been a little intimated, especially since they looked so hip and put together, but Jori and Kelly had me laughing and having a great time from the minute I stepped in there. I would say that if you are nervous to go by yourself that there is no reason these two will make you feel like you are one of their best friends and you have know them forever in minutes. The place is decorated really cool, and honestly feels like you are just hanging out at a super cool friends house. The makeup they use is bare minerals and a few other brands that are hard to find around here. The application was quick and fun, and Jori did an amazing job. I have never really felt comfortable with a lot of makeup on, I don't know how she did it but it was beautiful. The shop also has a lot of fun very inexpensive accessories cool earrings, rings, etc. This place is a gem and I will be back for sure, even if it is just to pop in and say hello to my new friends. They made a special day for my friend even better because the bride looked perfect, and we had a lot of fun. read more
