The receptionists are always welcoming and accommodating. Everyone works as a team and it shows! My stylist is Theresa. I have been going to her for about 4 months now. It took a little while for her to warm up to me but she is warm now. She takes her time to make sure I am happy. I have a inverted bob and fine hair. That's not an easy task. I see her every 3 weeks for a trim. She recommended another stylist for my husband and I believe he was pretty happy. I didn't think she spent any time blending the number 2 and 4 on the sides but at least my husband was happy. We hope to continue to come here until we move away form Woodbury. Note: Not many ethnic clientele at this location. They eventually warm up though. read more

She was able to convert my past formula (from a different dye company) and got me a perfect match! I already scheduled my next appointment. Shout out to my stylist, Erin! I've been getting hair trims and balayage services for roughly 4-years and I am impressed with the cleanliness of the salon as well as the freedom the salon offers their employees. Many of the employees build their own hours and have their own section of the building to service their customers. The shared spaces include the front lobby (where bubble waters and refreshments are always offered), the product purchase section (varying shampoos and conditioners) as well as my favorite part: the hair wash area. The hair wash area is a dark space with no talking making my experience incredible every time as there is nothing more zen then having your scalp massaged in silence. While I can't vouch for any other stylist (I am sure they are all wonderful), I cannot say enough good about Erin. She listens, always has good conversations and leaves me looking like a hair goddess. Thank you! read more

In full disclosure, I did not receive a service here. I am writing about my experience in trying to schedule an appointment with the salon. I asked for the first available appointment, and was told that they are only serving their clients, but if I really wanted she could check to see what's available. When I asked if there was a callback list for cancellations, similarly dramatic response - ok I could add you, but you would be at the BOTTOM of the list after existing clients. Really? What's up with the unprofessional response? You don't need any new clients right now? I'll work with another salon that isn't so grouchy about scheduling a simple appointment! read more

My 16 daughter made an appointment with Alyssa Eddy and needed to reschedule. After trying unsuccessfully (multiple times) to get through to the salon to reschedule, the day of the appointment came and we finally were able to get ahold of them. They told us that it was too late to reschedule/cancel and we would get charged the cancelation fee. My daughter tried to make the appointment time but when she arrived she was told she was too late to do any work (though there was an hour left in the appointment time) and sent away. Alyssa charged her the cancellation fee. Alyssa said it was a good learning lesson for my daughter and hopefully next time she will know better. Would NOT recommend Alyssa. read more

I found my place and person! Background- I've been going to another very well known salon in Woodbury for several years. While I did enjoy my time at this said salon I often felt lost in its high customer population. I could rarely see my stylist as she was often over booked and in high demand. Furthermore, I always felt a bit intimidated and never relaxed in this establishment. I always felt like I needed to look my absolute best just to get my hair done. My go to salon had to cancel my appointment after an issue with the building. This left me quickly having to scramble to find a salon that could take care of my needs prior to a vacation. The Salon was able to get me in right away. Honestly, I was very hesitant. I'm bi-racial with ultra curly curly hair. That being said, I'm very particular about how my hair is done and what products are used on it. Despite hesitation, I saw rave reviews about The Salon and decided to give it a chance. I couldn't be happier that I did! The Salon's atmosphere is beautiful, while quaint! Upon entering the building I was quickly greeted with a genuine smile and hello. I felt welcomed and relaxed right away. While The Salon, itself, is glamorous it didn't feel pretentious one bit! All the stylist are down to earth women. There is a sense of female empowerment in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. I knew this was something special! My experience was only positively amplified when I met my stylist, Caylin Watson. She made me feel welcomed right away and made a point to sit next to me as we discussed what I wanted done. She assisted me in choosing the color and cut I wanted. Not only did she do an absolutely fantastic job on my hair she was a great conversationalist too! After color and cut she took the time to straighten my hair and I didn't feel rushed to get out of my chair one bit. Thank you, Caylin! SO glad I took the chance to try a new establishment. I'm now happily calling The Salon my home and Caitlin my new stylist! Looking forward to my next appointment. I have coarse hair and always envy the shorter hair styles that are more easily achieved with fine hair, but Erin is able to give me just that, which is really impressive. I gave The Salon 3 stars mainly because of my experience with the hairdresser I had. It was my first time there (and last) and didn't know what to expect. I read all the great reviews on Yelp so I thought I'd give it a try. The front desk service was great; they offered to take my jacket and asked if I wanted anything to drink. When I met my hairdresser she was not very warm. She was either quiet and shy or just didn't really care to make an effort to get to know me or welcome me to the salon. I told her what I wanted and showed her a photo but she just kinda breezed over the whole thing. It didn't seem like she was really listening so that made me a little worried that I was going to get a color or cut I didn't want. As she did my hair I tried to initiate conversation with her to simply try to get to know her but she gave me very short answers and never initiated conversation. Everybody else around me were having lively convos with their hairdressers and I felt kinda jealous. In the end, my hair turned out okay; it wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad either. The color wasn't exactly what I wanted and I fear that's because we didn't spend enough time discussing it. At other salons there's a separate person that checks you out but here my hairdresser checked me out and she was able to see the amount I tipped her. I would have liked for the front desk person to handle that part. read more

I dont know if I would make a return appointment. I felt that my my time was rushed, she continously was checking her watch and trying to speed me along. Kept a high heat on my foils to move me along faster. This was my first time at this salon and while others got to enjoy the shampoo room, I was in and out so quickly that I spent money just to pay one of her bills rather than get what I should have. I also asked to be lightened only to leave darker than when I walked in. I can spend $200.00 anywhere, however I dont think it will be at this salon again. Totally disheartened read more

I recently followed my amazing longtime hairdresser Mitch Bauer to his new home at "The Salon" in Woodbury MN. & LOVED the new facility. I was greeted with a warm neck pillow that set the tone for their high quality, comfort & beautiful modern environment. While washing my hair, I was draped in a thick warm throw that topped off this luxurious experience that is also reasonably priced. Mitch is simply the best I've ever had so I highly recommend him & it's wonderful that his new salon matches his outstanding service. read more

Just an all around impressive salon. The front desk is warm and welcoming, making you feel like they really appreciate your business. They offer you something to drink and hang your coat which is simple but a great way to start your service. I've been seeing my stylist for years and would highly recommend her to anyone. She listens to my ideas and gives me her honest feedback. I have long curly hair which can take longer to style but she always allows time to give me that WOW finished look. I will be simple. I was recomend to go see Amanda by my hairstylist that I was with for over 8 year. She was booked till August and I couldn't wait this long. I am blond and my haircut is inverted boob. I know it's not an easy cut but if someone has 15 years of experience you would think they can pool it off. But anyways, my experience with Amanda was horrible and she made me look like a Sponge Boob square..... honestly I can go on an on but I am not here to say all bad things, I am actually here to be positive. I called next day and happened to to talk to Amanda witch later I found out she was the howner. She got me in next day at 7pm and did amazing fix of what I had left on me. To tell you that Amanda cut off my length up to my cheek bone and there was not much left to work with. Amanda was amazing and gave me a shape I want it, very nice, patient and professional. I know I will be back to see her, so when we were done I asked her how much I owe you, she said"Absolutley nothing" that's what I can tell a great customer service and she stands for her reputation .... As an out of towner (more from out if stater), I chose this place because its near where i was staying and i took a risk going here to do my hair and makeup but boy, best risk i took because Kerry rocked! My curls on my fine hair stayed curled all night and into the next day. Now, for me, if it stayed curled the next day, that stylist is good! And she did a great job on my makeup too! I was worried at first that the makeup wasn't matching me or wouldn't stay on all day but as the day went on and i was able to see myself outside where the wedding was, I realized that Kerry did a great job at making me look beautiful and making the makeup stay all day and all night! She was honest and that honesty helped in making sure i achieve the longevity that i was looking for along with making sure i looked good. Thanks Kerry if you are reading this! Absolutely stunned! I was in desperate need of a new "go-to" salon/stylist and I am sooo happy that I turned to yelp and found out about 'The Salon', and read about Kerry. Needless to say, Kerry is AMAZING! I was so used to having to wash, dry, and straighten my hair before going to my previous stylist. I had just moved to the area from elsewhere in the state and was dreading the difficult-but-necessary transfer to a new hair stylist. I read up on Yelp and decided to give The Salon a try. After calling to make an appointment and describing my hair and hair-treatment history, the friendly front-desk associate assigned me to SARA D (big shout out!), and I'm now a committed regular! Sara is everything you'd want in a hair stylist -- knowledgeable and enthusiastic about getting your hair exactly how you want it -- besides just being a lovely and engaging person to spend a bunch of time with. The salon has a relaxing dimmed back room full of shampoo stations; if you're a bit chilly while they wash your hair, they'll cover you with a luxuriously heavy faux-fur blanket. This is the point that you'd like to curl up and stay forever. The decor is on-trend while being efficiently laid out and welcomingly warm. The place seems happy and busy, and the overall experience is just terrific. So glad I leaned on Yelp reviewers on this pick because it was spot on. If you're seeking a new salon, look no further.
