I am very pleased with the service I got at this Sephora location. Derek was beyond amazing. Not only is he knowledgeable about the products but he's super sweet and helpful. I learned a lot from him about my skin and how to apply my makeup. Not only that, but he also did an amazing job with my smokey eyes. Thank you! I will definitely be back! Please hire more people like him! read more

Rushed purchasing experience and never anyone around to help. I was greeted at the door and said goodbye to on the way out but the customer service beyond that is pretty rough and rather disappointing for those who have no makeup skills like me. read more

It's about time Northridge got a Sephora! Sephora is the candy store of all things cosmetic, which can be a good or bad thing depending on you. For me, it's a great thing, as I always want to check out what's new and you can sample EVERYTHING!!! It's your standard Sephora and I have had a great experience with the staff here. I just recently found that you can return and exchange things that don't meet your expectations. I needed to return something and I was dreading it, thinking the staff might turn their nose up at me, but the opposite was true. They were SO nice and helpful and exchanged my product without a hassle. They even gave me samples! I'm a fan. read more

Great customer service! Did a return and was color match for a new foundation. I was helped quickly and the employees were super nice. read more

Overall most Sephora's are the same - great selection, fun to scope out the testers. This one stands out, because I've been to 10+ Sephora stores, and this has been the only one where employees didn't harass the daylights out of me. I went on a Friday night and they may have been slightly understaffed (which was fine by me, since it meant I didn't get trailed around by everyone asking "Can I help you?" 500x) When I did search out a free employee to ask for help they were useful and knowledgeable, without being overbearing. The girl at the register even suggested I get a sample of an item I was looking at, and didn't act put out when I took her up on it. read more

Never coming back here!!! I never got the employees name but it was the chubby girl was incredibly rude and disgusting towards us. Never have I ever been treated so badly as a customer. read more

I purchase things often in-store and online, and it's so disappointing that this location is closest to my house. Sephora is one of my favorite stores, and I used to go to the Topanga location regularly when I lived in Woodland Hills. I miss it SO MUCH. The team at Northridge never seems to want to be bothered to help you, the store is a mess, and when you go to check out they are more interested in talking to each other than helping their customers. Please PLEASE tell them to be nicer. The people going to Sephora are excited to be there and yes, will sometimes have questions and need guidance, but they are there to have fun. Coming in to this Sephora location takes the fun out of going to Sephora. read more

The customer service here is pretty terrible. I'm not that much of a make up person so I came in hoping someone would help me. I had to hunt someone down to help me. When I finally got someone (Faby) she was not helpful at all. I needed help finding foundation and she tried one on me and asked if that was it. Then I ask about primer and she just pointed me in the direction of where they were, without providing anymore guidance when I clearly asked for her advice. Extremely inattentive staff they need to be properly trained on customer service. There was only 1 nice staff member out of like 10. read more

Horrible service, every time I go into Sephora at Northridge I don't get the customer service I expect!!! I am a VIB ROUGE I probably spend more money then their employees on a weekly basis! It's so interesting that when they see ur basket is full of products u are well greeted and treated better SMH!. And what pissed me even more I go to this location today to the perfume section, I see an employee standing there never was I greeted, then I was like ok that's fine, then I asked for a sample. All I said "excuse me, Can I please get some samples?" She looked at me up and down and at my sister and with an attitude said, I can give one sample for each perfume only! Then my response to her well that's what I wanted anyways! Very unprofessional! I had items to buy however with the service I got, I left didn't wanna bother buying those items. I am very DISAPPOINTED! read more

Terrible customer service. Have to hunt someone down to ask questions and then they refuse to give you samples. "Damages the product," like them sitting out as testers doesn't already, and "its kind of hard like it's just not really a thing" for a liquid lipstick. Cmon. read more

I never had a problem with the customer service at the Topanga location but the team in Northridge really needs to step up their game. I get this off vibe all the time by the tone the sales associate would use to communicate with me. It's like I'm wasting their time after only asking one simple question. The attitude comes off very snooty. Everything here is always out of stock and each time I do enter, the workers here look miserable. read more

This is only getting 4 stars because of Jasmine the makeup artist there! I booked a 45 min custom makeover (free for VIB rouges) and ended up getting Jasmine. I wish there was a way to request her every time! She was very knowledgeable and took her time explaining every product she was using on my face. I didn't feel awkward or rushed at all during the makeover. She definitely knows what she's doing! I ended up buying everything she used on me! ($250 worth of products!) read more

When I walked in I was greeted by friendly employees and they helped me find the product I was looking for. At the register the cashier Jennifer was very polite and helpful I would definitely i'm back, and she definitely deserves a raise because of the amazing service she provides. Made an appt for my mom to get her make up done as she was going to an event. Sephora is always busy! The beauty studio is in the middle I don't think it's a good location in the store as plenty of customers would always ask questions. The gentleman name Jonathan prepped my mom's skin.. ask what her skin type was. Kathy had done her make up she did a great job. As I was waiting Jonathan offered a mini facial which I loved getting pampered. I like getting my make up done at Sherman Oaks better the beauty studio is tucked in the corner with more privacy. read more

Walking in this location, is like walking into a zombie apocalypse. The customer service is so bad, they look like "walking dead". It takes a while to get someone on the floor to help you out. When I asked a question, the sales girl gave me such a stare of annoyance, I think she was wishing for me to drop dead. My friend asked, "do you have any more of the Urban Decay Vice Palette". The sales girl didn't bother to look and responded with, "no one has them. They sell out the day they restock." She didn't bother to call other locations. When I approached the casher, I didn't even receive any greeting, "How are you?" or "Did you find everything ok?" just more annoyed looks. After wards I went to the Sephora located inside the JC Penny, where the sales people are so much nicer and helpful, and low and behold, 5 Vice Palettes! read more

I'm being gracious and giving Sephora 3 stars becuz of their variety of makeup and huge selection. Other than that, the customer service SUCKS, the employees must hate their job. I paid $50 for a makeover and she did a horrible job, my eyes looked like raccoons, I will never get my makeup done their again. I had a coupon for a free gift if I spend more than $50 but OOOOPPPSSS they ran out sooooo no rain check & no I'm sorry. Now that I discovered Naimie's in North Hollywood I definitely won't be back. read more

Sephora is typically my favorite place to buy my make-up, especially at Northridge because it's so close by. This is a review on their sales associates. The first time, about a week ago, I asked to have my face matched using that machine they have in the store. The lady said sure. She didn't use the machine though (like I had asked), she just walked me to the Tarte area and chose one. It looked good in the store but wearing it today, I feel as if the undertones are completely off. I went back yesterday, and in the first few minutes of my time there, the sales associates were gossiping about other customers. I even assume they were gossiping about my hair due to how uneven my current hair color is. To my right I could hear (loudly), "Yeah, that's why you use a pan". The sales associates at the JCPenny location were 100% times better. Honestly, these girls might as well get paid for how much crap they talk instead of standing around in a clump not helping the many people walking through the door. Some advice: Keep your mouth shut and your judgments to yourself and DO SOME WORK. I'm disappointed. read more

Gaby at the jc penny's sephora was nice and offered to do my makeup using the sephora foundation., I stuck with my bare minerals foundation but she showed me how to contour my cheek line which was nice and I asked about my brows but didn't figure out what to do with eyebrow shadows etc read more

Does it bother anyone else when the person working there does not know the products? I mean you work in makeup, you should know the product way better than I do. I don't even spend alot of time on it, but if a product changes or is discontinued or if someone needs to know how it works, I would imagine that you should be the expert on it. Well, not at this location anyway, in my experience. Awhile ago the brand Makeup Forever had changed their primers packaging and possibly discontinued the '0' primer. So I asked the girl who works there which one is equivalent and she said that she didn't know. She didn't even know that '0" was gone, Anyway, so I just wanted the same thing if it was just a change in packaging because all the others that I had tried previously never worked nice on my skin. She couldn't help me and was kind of disinterested in helping me figure it out. So I asked her to give me samples of the ones they have so that I can figure out on my own (since she didn't know) which one is equivalent to the one I have been using the past few years. She tells me that she cant give me more than 2 samples. I was shocked!! There are something like 4 or 5 primers. I would much rather just buy the item, if you knew what it was, but you don't, so how exactly do you expect me to figure this out? Usually by trying them. She wanted me to come back for each new sample. You know what, this made me really mad. I did not come here for samples. I came here to shop and buy makeup, but you DO NOT know your product, so I cannot do that, I usually end up spending a lot of time and money there when I go, but she made me so annoyed that I just went ahead and said forget it and left, So as I was storming out of the mall, really upset that I didn't get my primer, and other makeup that I was looking forward tom I noticed that there is a Sephora inside JC pennys. Ok well lets try, I need this stuff. I go in, the sweetest, nicest, most knowledgeable about primers, Sephora employee, helps me find the one that I need. In like 2 seconds, she said oh, I knowm its this one!!! love her! and I end up spending a few hundred dollars on other stuff and thank her profusely. Good thing they have someone that knows what they are doing!!!! read more

RUDE girls working here, they see you but ignore you, you literally have to run after one to help you. I absolutely hate this Sephora. Whenever I need to buy something from Sephora I drive the extra miles to the Sephora at the Topanga Mall, the girls there are the absolute BEST! If you want to be ignored go this location. read more

I haven't been here in so long until today! Workers here greet you SOMETIMES when you walk in, while some just look at you and walk away. Like I don't even ask them anymore cause I feel like they only help people who have FULL ON MAKE UP or like if they think "She's pretty." Like I'm sorry, do I have to cake up just to buy something here and actually have someone help me? Uh no. I went in earlier and I probably spent at least a good 20 minutes going around looking for something. But NONE of them even bothered asking me if I needed anything! A customer standing next to me, WITH FULL ON MAKE UP, got asked by an associate. Her exact words were "you're so pretty! Do you need any help?" It's probably the #1 reason why I don't come here anymore!! I only went in to redeem my gift cards, other than that, I would never come in here. read more

I can't help but feel that the majority of the staff feel as though they are better than everyone else. I've been to this sephora on numerous occasions, and tried to take into consideration okay maybe they're having a bad day or just had a bad experience with a previous costumer... But no. Multiple times the staff has treated me like I was an annoyance and that my questions were dumb. Like yo, you work in one of the largest makeup super stores in America, of course a costumer is going to have questions about your products... Some, not all... Need to get over themselves. read more

Helpful and friendly. Lots of variety. You'll find anything you want here. They have anything from cosmetics and perfumes.

Hate This Place So Much!!! The Costumer Service Is Terrible!! The Girls Working In There Treat You Like Your Always On Their Way, They Are The Rudest Wannabe MUAs Ever! & Wat I Hate The Most It's Just Cuz You Walk In There Looking Casual They Think Your Not Gona Buy Anything & They Just Totally Ignore You! It's convenient but the some of the girls here are STUPID. I'm not being mean but they really were, why work there when you're not helpful and clueless. Edit: Ask them a simple question, "oh it doesnt matter, its up to you." Thanks you're a great help. They never have anything in stock at this location, I asked if macys next door sold any smashbox because they never restock on their products here and the woman goes "I don't know, we're two different companies." I wanted to tell her, "no f**** sh*t, i was asking a general question because department stores usually sell a variety of different brands." She did not need to talk to me like I'm an idiot. ugh and why is that woman with the green hair still working here based off the other reviews? read more

This Sephora needs to improve majorly on their customer service. A lot of the girls there are moody and give you dirty looks. I've noticed that they only come to you if you are wearing makeup or if they know that you will buy something! I've given it many chances and not once was I helped out. read more

I love Sephora and clearly many share the sentiment, or else it wouldn't always be so full. For the most part I go knowing what I need, but every time I go into this store no one offers to help like the other Sephora locations. I went this Tuesday looking for a matte foundation and came across an employee who was stocking product. I asked her if she wasn't too busy (since all the other Sephora staff were busy and she was the only one stocking) if she could help me find my shade in foundation in a matte brand. With attitude she said she was busy but when she saw that everyone else was busy she continued to stock and just asked "what kind?" and I said matte and she said try NARS without looking at me and not really paying attention to what she was doing. I ended up having to figure out myself and ended up hating the shade so I definitely will try to avoid coming to this Sephora for their lack of customer service. read more

Alondra in the fragrance department was so sweet and helpful. Great customer service!

Went in looking for matte black nail varnish. The employee gave me one called"dark matter" and insisted it was matte. It was not. It's actually pretty high gloss. Maybe the employees should have some basic product knowledge. read more

Love all things Sephora --- in store and online. Especially love all the holiday gift sets. I wanted to give a shout-out to the Northridge store because the staff is so friendly, helpful and energetic. I live closer to the Valencia store, but I would rather drive out the 20+ miles to the Northridge mall store because they are just so much nicer here. Most of the staff at Valenica are snobbish and won't even ask to see if you need help, or the other extreme is that they walk around following you suspicously. For a great customer service and utmost professionalism, and where you feel sincerely welcome as a customer, go to the Northridge Sephora store. :-) read more

I had received the Glam Glow (silver) anti aging mask as a gift but later saw it on line as Glam Glow Gift set, which included 3 products and application brush, (which I couldn't purchase separately) for same price ($69). I wanted to try all 3 so I can see if it worked for me. I checked inventory and called the Northridge store and was told probably by Friday. (It was Wednesday). Before I went, I checked online and it said it was available in the last 24 hrs. First of all, it was afternoon and the place busy. I had my baby in stroller and the check out aisle as well as the checkout area was a tight fit, that my stroller either was in the way or I keep bumping into the checkout machine/person next to me. That being said, I got to front and said I received as a gift but wanted to exchange for the gift set. She looked but said they didn't have it even though on line it said it was available, so I said can I get a store credit so I can purchase it on line. The sales associate wasnt familar with the return policy without receipt but her neighboring associate said I can return without receipt but I could only make a return once per year and I needed ID. No problem bc I don't do many returns anyway. I was told it would be a negative thing for me 2nd time since I didnt have receipt. Then they also asked if I knew if my friend was a VIB member, which I gave them her number & it came up and it was easier to return. The process was a bit slow, and the one who was helping had to open up the very tight package , even though I told I didn't open it and you can tell I didn't bc she had a hard time to open it without ripping the package open. I guess with a return they have to open it completely, but even to the point of removing the seal to check content? I felt I was being accused of something just bc of returning an item. How can they restock that item if it was open completely? ..didn't make sense to me. She saw me staring at her and she said sorry about that. Then I received my store credit and went home to order item on line but to my dismay, the on line doesn't accept in store credits...only debit/credit/gift cards. After all that, I still couldn't get the item I wanted! The associate should have told me that the in store credit doesn't work on line or at least tell me to just get a cash refund especially when I specifically told her since they don't have the item and not sure when they will recieve it that I will order it on line. Luckily, I was at the Sherman Oaks area, checked on line, said it was in the inventory and took a chance and went there. Hurray they did! That store on a Saturday afternoon, had a line to the door but all the associates greeted all customers with smile, kept apologizing for the wait, their aisles were much more spaces and most importantly had this product in ample supply/accurate inventory. Overall, not very happy with the experience on this day at Northridge, which normally is okay. Big difference in customer service between Northridge and Sherman. Oaks. read more

Excellent customer service! I went in today to get a new foundation and I was helped by Tina. She was nice from the start and very patient with me. If I could I would give this store 0 stars. Never returning to this store! Horrible customer service! I walked in with my fiancé. We were never acknowledged upon entering the store nor when walking around looking at products. There were maybe about 4 customers in the store & the employees just standing around talking. I know that they saw us in store because I made eye contact with one of the girls. Seeing that they were not interested in making any sales, we decided to walk out. Seems like they will only help you if you walk in there with a full face of makeup on & dressed nicely. Took my business elsewhere! read more

I've been to this location about seven or eight times just this month no one ever comes to help and if I go up to someone and ask for help they are in such a rush they don't answer all of my questions and they try to get rid of you as fast as they can horrible I will never come here again... read more

The sales associate (maybe even manager!) who "helped" us today decided to tell us that the mobile app special I was asking about was "online only," then when I found it at several area stores by clicking "find in stores," she said she would advise calling first because the stores don't have the same pricing as the web. When we asked her how that could be, she said the cosmetics industry was complicated, blah, blah, blah. Ummmm, is it complicated because this store is not covered by the bait-and-switch advertising laws or is it complicated because you're a liar? read more

I don't mind the lack of help. I've always been that girl who wants her mom to ask for her, so now was an adult I only ask when absolutely needed.
