Store Entrance

Sephora is a French leading brand and chain of cosmetics, beauty and fragrances. The brand offers a wide variety of beauty products including makeup, skincare, body, fragrance, color, and haircare. The also features its own make-up, skincare, and beauty tools and accessories. I have worked with Sephora for many years and I do love this brand. I was extremely happy that the opened a boutique store in MacArthur Center. Just so you know, "sephos" is greek word means beauty and the name Zipporah come from the beautiful wife of Moses from the Book of Exudos. The store looks incredibly fantastic. It's clean, neat and well displayed. Everything is on point starting the warm welcome greetings at the entrance till the cash register. They staffs are knowledgeable and professional. The make sure you'll get the right product. Customer service is superb.

The staff always very helpful and friendly. However they are usually short staffed so it's hard to find help.

Rude, apathetic staff. Waited ten mins plus and NO ONE asked if I needed help. There were plenty of clerks available. Will not return.

Neither one of us had any candle making experience so I was excited to see how the process worked. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by early 90s Hip-Hop being played by a DJ which we thoroughly enjoyed. Once we made our inside, we were greeted by the owner of Ambyance Fragrances, Robert, who taught us everything we needed to know about our sense of smell and how amazing his soy candles were. We were given about 30 fragrance samples to smell before deciding on about 2-3 to add to our candle. Once we added our customized fragrance to the candle wax, we then added some dried flowers for decoration and selected the color we wanted for our candle. Since it took about 45 mins for our candles to set, we were able to enjoy the bar and grab a bite to eat from their limited menu while we waited. We also walked around and viewed the books on display as well. Overall, our candles turned out absolutely amazing and smelled wonderful! Robert has been in the candle making business for years and his candles are top tier. He is so inspiring and you can tell he puts his all into his art of candle and oil making. I definitely recommend booking this class for a Girl's Night, Date Night, or just because.

It is located on High Street in a cute neighborhood bookstore/ coffee shop called The Book Club. He is very educated on candles and explains the process very well. He has the stations set up on arrival and walks you through the steps. We were able to pick our flavors, colors, and candle jars. There was an array of flavors or smells that makes me want to come back and make more candles. He also came by and picked perfumes that complimented us. Let's just say he was SPOT ON! He picked 3 signature scents that I would go for all based off ONE conversation we had. 1000000000000000/10 recommend.

I came here for parking to visit the scope arena, and a nearby fair. I didn't really walk around but the fact that the food court only had two operating restaurants tells me all I need to know. The theaters are closed and honestly most of the stores are closed as well. So overall, great for parking to visit nearby businesses but it is sad as I had great memories of this place from about 20 years ago. Time has not been kind to malls in VA, in general.

Right now, though I love walking through it and looking at the paintings and the graffiti type murals that's on display I also really enjoy all the different art spots everything from the youth center to the display of the governor school. There's even a little train museum here. They still have a couple of staples open such as slush and Auntie Annie's pretzels. It is sad to see the movie theater closed and it's one of the best places to park at if you have to go anywhere downtown it's pretty inexpensive. We went to a play over a Chrysler and I had to pay a dollar to park. I will forever love the mall and hopefully when they do rebuild, they keep a lot of of the old soul intact. Very, very selfie friendly bathrooms and plate area still intact

The young lady who helped me find the right scent assisted me in going through a good number of scents before settling on two that I liked. the store was set up nicely, offering a side dedicated to men and another dedicated to women. They also also unisex scents which was I thought was pretty cool. They offer a variety of brands from big names like versace to not as common brands that smell even more wonderful. one of the things that i didnt really like but i guess this is for security purposes but all the scents are behind the counter so i have to have this girl get up and down on the ladder. I have been in some perfumes stores that have their selection available for you to walk up and test on your own. aforementioned, likely loss prevention strategy. but overall i liked this store the young ladies that were there really helped me a lot. i haven't bought any perfume in awhile and i felt they were really interested in me finding something that i liked. their prices were really good. after price checking nearby stores they were about $10 cheaper so i was really happy about my purchase. All together for what i spent i purchased realistically 2 for the price of one. i was able to get a 3 oz bottle for myself and i got my boy friend a 1 oz bottle since he isnt a big cologne wearer. but i hope to visit this store again for their great customer service and prices !

The shade of the actual perfume was a totally different shade compared to her old authentic bottle. They both had a rubbing alcohol smell to it. Nether the less, I brought it back to return which they explained they only do in-store credit or exchange. Coming into the store was an odd experience. The guy that was " helping " me was spraying everything I DIDN'T ask for, and once I found the two I wanted, I asked what types of discounts they offer, as well as if they do military discounts. He gave me a half answer of " I'll take care of you when we go check out ". At the register he totaled everything up and i ask for a breakdown of my savings which he replied with a no-answer response once again. Never again will i make the mistake of going to this phony shop. Should have known they weren't authentic when he offered to give me 75% off on Creed Aventus which retails well over $350.

It is still clean but about half or maybe more of the shops are unoccupied, the food court is pretty sad, and one of the anchor stores is gone. The stores that remain seem to be very slow and overall there are only few customers in the mall. I think about 30 cars were near Macy's where I parked. The Mexican restaurant Abuelo's looks like it is closed down but signs are still there but zero customers so I think it was closed. The only store that looked semi-busy was the Chinese massage place where there were about four people being massaged and one customer waiting. I honestly was just looking around to get some exercise on a cold day but I really couldn't find anything I really wanted to buy even if I was searching for something. There were also lots of kids just using the mall as a playground but they seemed to enjoy the empty mall. The highlights of my visit was the sports memorabilia store and the pet store. They were also the only places that the clerks engaged me to see if I needed any help. I guess we have to just get used to the slow death of shopping malls in the future and realize online shopping is here to stay.

It reminds me of a two story version of Pembroke Mall (RIP). They renovated the mall since I was last there. It looks cleaner and modern(ish). There are a lot of vacancies including where Reignforest tea was. We walked the entire perimeter of the top floor once and then the perimeter of the bottom floor twice which was an estimated 1.5 miles. Not a very far walk, but it was with intensity. A few notable stores in the mall were Macy's, rack room shoes and bath and body works. Otherwise, the mall was pretty dead with little activity. The food court was the area that was most booming with activity but it still felt like a ghost town. If you've ever seen zombie apocalyptic movies, it kind of has the vibes like the mall you would be running into to escape from the zombies. Except the mall was already dead when it was open.

There are some seriously cute ones for Halloween. I was almost immediately greeted by a friendly young gal who offered me a bag for shopping which I declined and she pointed me in the direction of the hand soap in the back left of the store. I found a wealth of hand soaps back here in about 40 different scents and styles with tons of old favorites, some newbies, and fall scents. Best of all, all the soaps were on sale for $3 the day I came in! No minimum purchase required! As I shopped another gal stocking shelves asked if I needed help and as I started to select a few soaps and stood holding them the first gal came back and offered me a bag again to be helpful in case I wanted my hands free. Once I'd made my selections I walked to the front where a very friendly gal rang me up and made pleasant small talk with me. Both she and the other gentleman working behind the register were friendly and we easily chatted as I paid. This was an excellent experience in this store and every single person I encountered inside was friendly and helpful despite it being later in the day on a weekend (Saturday). Kudos on a job well done!
