One is Debbie & I'm never sure which brand but she knows I want quality & without hesitation & with NO questions asked she escorts me to a chair & returns with brands I may OR may NOT KNOW, but always products suitable for my skin tone. Although I sometimes order online from Sephora, I've never been a fan of in-store shopping. As someone who started wearing makeup later than some, I've never felt quite comfortable there. I feel like, on average, Sephora employees tend to seem judgy of anyone who isn't a 25-year old makeup devotee with powdered brows and false lashes. This Sephora in the Christiana mall is a breath of fresh air. I interacted with three staff members during my visit, and all of them were warm, welcoming, and helpful. They were also diverse in terms of race, gender, and even age, which is awesome. It was especially nice to be able to get product recommendations from someone who, like me, has a wrinkle or two. The fact that I spent $70 that visit- very unusual for me- is a testament to the friendliness and good customer service at this location. read more

Aside from all the beautiful and well stacked makeup displays that are housed in the front of the store, what I really love is the skin care section in the back. The options are endless, there's always something new and you can sample almost anything before you buy. Sephora also does a great job of curating multiple brand special buy collections usually in minis so you can decide later on which full size items you want to get. If it's busy, don't expect to be helped. If you must go, try a week day unless you know what you need and can be in and out. I usually purchase from Sephora online and come to this location for returns or exchanges (unless I'm in the mall and decide to stop in). They will greet you upon entry and upon leaving lol. The stock has been low recently and usually I get told they can do free ship to store but like i said it just easier to order online. Sometimes coming here can feel like a waste. The cashiers sometimes act as if they have no idea what they are doing sadly. And there is enough staff here to help out but they rarely do. Still I will use this location over the Sephora's in JCP. read more

Stopped in here recently to pick up some perfume that my daughter had bought me for Christmas (one of those samplers where you get to try a bunch and decide which one you like, then you get a full size of whichever one you pick - how fun!). We were greeted by a sales guy as soon as we walked in the door and he went right over and found the perfume that I wanted. After a short wait in line, we were out of there in a flash. Every time I walk into this store I feel judged by the workers. They never really look happy to help me either. And when they do help me they always talk down to me or act like I have no clue how makeup works. I honestly never go in when I don't have makeup on because I feel so judged by the workers who seem to think they are some sort of makeup gurus. I had a bizarre CustomerService experience today at Sephora, Christiana Mall Newark Delaware. I walked into the mall with my mask on through the Nordstrom entrance and walked into Sephora with my mask on, I wanted to do an exchange and try to get a good under eye concealer with a better color match than the last one I got from this same store. I was approached by a sales associate for help, I pulled down my mask for a moment to show her my face and coloring. She proceeded to tell me to put my mask back, which I did and she started berating me about the use of masks and talking to me as if I was a child. I felt totally insulted and disrespected, I told her to stop but she continued, I told I was not interested anymore in the concealer and I was going to just do the exchange. She told me fine as if being a customer there was not valued. I went to Nordstrom where I was given samples of concealer colors and numerous other samples. I felt appreciated at Nordstrom and made a purchase. I wear the masks and understand their value to myself and others, I don't need a lecture, felt her the response was robotic and over the top! read more

I popped into this Sephora to grab a gift for my friend birthday and ended up grabbing something for myself as well. The store wasn't busy, only a few other customers shopping, I could tell they were a bit understaffed and I don't mind waiting for help. When I noticed the older woman working at the registers had an empty line I asked if she could point me in the direction of a sales associate who could help me in the fragrance department, with a nasty glare and a huff she looked around and said ugh not really. She called for someone on the radio. One of the managers were able to help me locate the fragrances I was looking for she even went to the back to find the size I wanted she was wonderful and helpful. When I was wrapped up I headed up to the line to only be greeted by a huff and a puff and a "put your phone number in" I had already pulled up my Sephora card on my phone so she could scan my membership, with an audible "ughhh" she scanned my card and rung me up. No hello no nothing...I understand staffing is short during this time and as someone who has worked in customer service before I try my best to understand the stress of it, but never in my life have I had someone be so hostile especially at this location. I didn't even want to ask for a gift receipt because I knew she was going to give me a snide remark. As I was leaving I grabbed another employee who was another manager and told her about the experience I just had with the woman at the register, she was shocked and very apologetic she took me back to the register ended up returning all my items filled my bag with samples and ended up giving me 15% off of what I had purchased (I of course was not expecting this nor did I ask for any compensation) a weird and uncomfortable experience turned into some of the best customer service I have ever had. My experience at the Sephora in the Christiana Mall, DE was wonderful!! I was assisted by Stephanie and she was great! I had had my bridal makeup trial earlier in the day at a salon in PA and was pleased but not thrilled. I went into Sephora with my mom just to quickly look at their lip products for my big day in September 2016. We asked Stephanie a question and she helped us for 20 minutes trying out lipsticks and improving my previous make up trial with liner and blush! I loved the look and it inspired me to use the products she recommended to do my own makeup on the day of my wedding. It was great to meet such friendly and helpful staff!! read more

Ok I am a sephora junkie. I am a VIB rouge and this is my favorite location by far. Stephanie, Lauren, Bianca, Angela all rock. Stephanie does my makeup all the time and no matter what look she can deliver it. I get advise and just started getting the new Marc Jacobs makeup. Love it. Also great lipsticks which is my addiction. Only negative is some lines aren't here like Armani. No sales tax on your purchases either. Store should have more pre packaged samples to give away. It that aspect I don't think sephora corp gives this store its due. In nyc and KOP they always give something with your purchase. Love it here and love the staff. Clean store as well read more

I am 57 and disabled and am able to go to the mall maybe once every 4-6 months for an hour. I need to be driven and have someone with me. Even though I go nowhere, sometimes make up is a great pick me up. I purchased several items yesterday and upon looking at them at home, I realized I already had most of the eyeshadow shades. I sent my daughter back today to return them. The manager refused to credit my Visa Debit card, stating I needed to be there in person. I explained my dilemma and she still refused. I have never had this problem there before. So, I will get a driver tomorrow and hobble back to the store. I will never do business with Sephora again, when Ulta, Nordstrom, Macy's, Boscov's all have excellent cosmetic departments. Sometimes kindness and compassion goes a long way. AMAZING SERVICE. I've gotten my makeup done there twice, once for my birthday and once for a wedding and the artist did an amazing job. I showed up early to both and got a facial from the skin care expert there. It was amazing and they weren't pushy about purchasing everything they used! You have to spend or buy a $50 gift card which is a bargain especially when you already need some stuff from there. I've gone to the KOP location a bunch of times and there are also great, but Christiana's staff just really goes the extra mile in my opinion! read more

I'm sorry, but Sephora might have a wide variety of cosmetics, but the employees are clueless and the sanitary conditions are marginal. I recently purchased an eyeliner, among a lot of other items to amount to over $200. When I got home, I realized that one of the eyeliners I purchased was empty (it was in a box). When I returned about a week later (its not close to where I live) the gum snapping salesgirl looked at me like I was a thief, never apologized for the inconvenience of my having to drive back to the mall to return the empty box for a full one, and basically threw the eyeliner at me. If she had a brain in her head, she would have realized that I have historically spent a lot of $$ at Sephora, and certainly it would be in the best interest the store to treat me with respect. I emailed Sephora 2 times to inform them, and never heard back. I never do this sort of stuff, but this time I can't help myself.
