To start off, I was at the cashier to return something and there was this family behind me that was EXTREMELY close to me and was coughing near my face. I was uncomfortable but I was too scared to say something. Jose was my cashier and he apologized to me for being uncomfortable (it's not his fault) and then he kindly told the family to give me space and I appreciate him for that. Then we have Sal, he was so nice to come up to me to offer me some help on choosing foundations. He gave good and full details on each foundations for different benefits. He made a good point on that we "wear different outfits for different occasions" which made my choice on keeping all my foundations because of him. I've had some good experiences here but my last visit was horrible. Felt as if I was being racially profiled by a couple employees. It was labor day and plenty of people in the store and the two same employee kept lingering around me in skin care and came up to me every so often asking if I needed anything when I had already repeatedly told them I was fine and didn't need assistance. One even came back asking if I needed a basket when I already had one clearly with items in it. When you're POC you can tell when others are treating you as if you don't belong and being watched. I don't think I'll be coming back even tho it is extremely close to me. Such a turn off - almost didn't finish my purchase there. The cashier was lovely tho. read more

Weird that this place has such low reviews. I'm happy that this place exists... I hate living in a Sephora deadzone where my only options are either to go to Cerritos or the two locations in Costa Mesa. I came here the weekend after it opened and it was strangely empty. A gentleman who was working skincare was WONDERFUL and went out of his way to help me try and sample some Vitamin C products then turned me to Farmacy Green clean cleansing balm which is legit fantastic. The only reason I'm docking this place a star is because it's missing some of the makeup brands I was looking for, like Armani and YSL. So if you're looking for some higher end brands, you might have to go to the surrounding stores for it... if you're looking for standard brands like Laura Mercier, Makeup Forever, Tarte, Fenty... etc, they'll have what you're looking for here. read more

In August, I was poked in my eye during a make-up tutorial. The company has never apologized or taken any responsibility. The make-up brush that was being used by the demonstrator was coated with cleanser so my vision, from that eye, was clouded for days. I have filed a report with the manager, repeatedly written to headquarters to complain, and called their offices multiple times regarding my concern. Sophora has never addressed the issue. So please beware!!! Sephora does not care about you, the customer -- especially your health -- just about making money. My advice is to save yourself a great deal of fear, agony and pain and totally avoid this Long Beach Sephora. read more

Terrible customer service. I visited the store at 5:20 PM on Sunday 3/26. As the only black male in the store (who happens to be a lawyer) I felt completely uncomfortable here. After being ignored by multiple employees (who were not busy whatsoever), I left. I returned to give them another chance and asked if I could get some help with the Tom Ford fragrance. The associate went in the back while I waited and there were three associates standing by the front cash register with no line. The associate in the back asked the guy to go over and assist me on the headset and he was visibly reluctant as if he was annoyed to have to go interact with me. Once he noticed that I saw his reaction he told me someone is in the back and will be out to help in a few. The girl in the back said something else to the other associate who was up front ignoring me. I have never worn make up and wanted to look for a foundation for my event next week. I approached the woman right at the front of the store on Saturday, September 21 around 12:00 pm to ask her for guidance, she had terrible attitude and kept interrupting me to talk to other people. Finally, she said I MUST buy a product to get color match. My friend who got color matched said that they did not require her to buy anything for the color match. One said because it's the holidays but I've come when it's not the holidays and items are always out. I first went to the Sephora in Cerritos to make an exchange with a dyson airwrap i purchased, and they were terrible and uncooperative so then I drove to this location. They were automatically so helpful and were able to check me out so quick. All of the workers were genuinely so nice and welcoming. I came in looking for a specific scent of perfume or body spray, but had no idea what brand I was looking for. An employee asked if I needed any help and when I told them the scent type I was looking for they immediately gave me three options of exactly that. They saved me so much time and energy and also the headache I would inevitably have from smelling a hundred scents. Seriously? I usually don't take the time to write a 1 star review but the whole 2nd/PCH experience is ridiculous. Worst mall I have ever seen. The parking is a nightmare with backups on 2nd. And who wants to pay for parking? The whole place feels like a prison. As for Sephora, I simply ask an attendant to get me a bottle of Obsession, she brought me Escape. I said you must have Obsession, it is a well known cologne. She said she didn't. Then I spotted it on a shelf. When I told her "miss" here it right here. She actually said ""Whatever". SO rude. I walked out. The whole mall is a joke. Lackluster shops, I had a bad experience at Urban Plates too. I will now avoid this mall like the plague. Instead of Whole Foods I shop Lazy Acres, instead of Sephora, I found my cologne across the street at CVS ..took me just 10 minutes. While my trip trying the maneuver in and out of that prison parking lot alone took 25 minutes. Such a joke. read more

I was hesitant in reviewing this location because of one person as one of the other employees was very attentive and pleasant at the end. I came in and wasn't greeted which is fine because I came in knowing what I wanted and I wanted to look around after getting what I needed. Literally 5 minutes later as I was looking at an eye shadow kit and wanted to make sure the right shade was in the box, I was approached by, I believe was the day manager. "Hi ma'am do you need help?" As to which I said "oh I'm fine thanks- I know what I want and I'm getting this" Then in a tone that I didn't appreciate, says "next time let us know before you open the box"....at that time I literally had the item in my hand so it's a given I was getting it and as anyone who wanted to make sure the proper item is in the box would check to make sure it's correct. But the way she said it in an almost belittling attitude rubbed me off in the wrong way. I needed to purchase some items that day and since there wasn't a Sephora closer to home, I decided to continue on and look around the store. But I just had this uncomfortable vibe around the store as she kept walking around and making eye contact with me and not saying a word. Fortunately one of the employees was friendlier and helpful and gave out good vibes but I wouldn't go back to this location. I'm a friendly, chill type of shopper and don't ask for help unless it's something major. But to feel like I'm doing something so severe that it dictates an annoyed tone in opening a box that I already deduced I was going to purchase is ridiculous. If she was the manager, I hope she takes a cue from the employees working the floor in lessons on how to communicate with customers the right way. This store has a lot of brands that I look for but I hate shopping here because I get asked if I need help every time I turn a corner. I get the purpose of beauty advisers but if I say no; I don't want to be asked two seconds later when I'm still in the same section. It's annoying and if you see someone testing the makeup on their forearm it typically means they know what they're doing. Observe and give people space to browse or the staff needs to communicate that that person was already asked. read more

Where do I start? I decided to go to the store this afternoon around 3:15 pm. I'd give zero stars but the woman at the counter was kind and professional, assisted me when my payment method wasn't going through. Too bad the short haired salesperson who was on the floor wasn't. She was actually following me and watching me as I walked through the store. So obvious. I know I pair down my "look" on the weekend because I like to relax, not have a lot of make-up on, jeans, and t-shirt. I don't know. Maybe she thought I was going to steal something. She was so obvious that I was uncomfortable. She even stood nearby as I was paying for my product. My debit card wasn't going through due to an issue with my bank (I called to verify). So, I left. On my way out, that same salesperson watched me leave. Come on, please treat your customers with courtesy, respect, and professionalism. I did not appreciate that young woman's behavior at all. I rarely go to this Sephora, and I'm certain I won't be going back after today. I wish I had asked her name. She was Latina, maybe? She was short, with short black hair and dark skin. Rude manager would not exchange my nars foundation because I was passed the 60 days. Cool! I totally understand at the same time it was literally used for the first time yesterday. The wrong color was sent to me when it was first purchased and I didn't realize it till I used it for the first time. I wear in Nars every day and this isn't my Shade. Avoid this sephora location at all costs. A staff member literally yelled AT me as soon as walked in. I was so startled I didn't know what to say or do. It took a second to realize she simply asked me what I came in for. Once I responded "for a return or hopefully exchange for the product I really need" she cuts me off mid sentence and tells me to go to the check out line.... Ummm I wanted to shop around? It was so bizarre. They kept talking into their headphones and weirdly following me around. It make me feel like I was going to steal something? I felt so uncomfortable. Didn't retail learn anything from the anthropology "nicks" debacle? The checkout process was also bizarre. I was explaining why I was returning a product that didn't work for me and the checkout gal was the least helpful. ALSO the testers in this store are all dusty and dirty .. gross. They literally told me if I didn't like the way they do things I should shop somewhere else. Wow. This is why Amazon is going to end up prevailing and Sephora is slowly going to phase out . Went there to have my make up done properly. I have mature skin. I have laugh lines, but only a few, not a full face. I specifically stated that I wanted make up that will not break up in the creases of my laugh lines and I didn't want a cakey foundation. I was told No Problem , it is all about the layering. Well let me tell you the entire process was a waste of time and money. I was doing a better job myself. I live less than 10 minutes away and by the time I got home and looked in the mirror it was a mess. This Sephora store is located inside 2nd and PCH. Covid Safety Precaution: 5/5 Since they limit a certain number of people inside the store, there will be a line forming outside if it gets too busy. The wait goes by pretty fast. TIP: If you know what you want ahead of time, you can let the associate know and they will bring the item out to you and ring you up in person. This is extremely useful if you are in a rush or don't want to wait in line. Of course, the standard protocol enforced is you must wear a mask at all times when entering the store. You are not allowed to sample products. Inventory: 5/5 This store is pretty well stocked and carries just about every notable brand. They carry a variety of makeup, skincare and hair tools. My daughter & I were in this Sephora store last week on Thursday & spent over $100 on 2 bottles of shampoo & conditioner & when we asked the cashier for samples she told us she had only one sample & she did give it to us but when we asked if we could have just one more of the same since she said that's the only sample she had, she said that was the last one. Get it together Sephora! Either get more samples for your customers or get new employees who are happy to give samples to your customers otherwise you could lose out to other stores. I must say that some of these reviews are pretty harsh and that I have never witnessed anything like that through my experiences of venturing to this specific Sephora. With that out of the way, the following is my review of this sephora location: After having a pleasant dinning experience at Whole Foods, I knew I was pressed for time and needed to get a quick touch up before I headed over to Ballast Point for my photoshoot with Photographer, Derrick Cabico (message me for his IG). So I decided to stop by Sephora and try to get some products to refresh my dreadful looking skin (I mean c'mon. Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop could only do so much). I was quickly met with two sephora employees and they greeted me with bright smiles. I shared them my concern (dreadful looking skin) and I informed them about my photoshoot. They quickly sat me down and grabbed the skincare expert. Kaina (skincare expert) asked me about my skincare concerns and grabbed products that were vegan and cruelty free. She used so many floral and veggie scented items that made my skin feel refreshed, ph balanced, and defined. Kaina was very friendly and provided optimal customer service. Overall, if you come during the weekdays, this location will offer their full undivided attention to you. It should be noted that PCH & 2nd is a new location and parking on occasions will be a bit clustered. Do not fear, parking at the moment is free for the first 90 minutes. The location is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and has instagram worthy photo ops. If you are ever in Long Beach, please stop by to this Sephora and just 2nd and PCH in general! read more

The staff were really great. They explained that we couldn't try on any of the samples due to Covid-19 but that I could exchange anything I bought that didn't match my skin tone. They do limit the amount of people allowed in the store so it's not crowded. It is a small store so that made me feel comfortable. The store itself is very clean and nicely organized. Products are easy to find but the customer service was pretty bad. I went in on a Monday afternoon looking for a foundation and asked the young lady working at the makeup station for help. She said she was busy so I politely asked if someone else was able to assist and she threw her hands up in the air and annoyingly replied, "I'm the only one. Whats up, what do you need". This has to be the worst Store EVER !!! There was like 7 people in there besides me and the staff are RUDE !!! Not even acknowledging me or anyone else cause a couple were complaining as well how they are rude, the employees that were helping the very few customers looked bored and the idle employees were too busy gossiping ignoring myself and 4 other people but I always go to Sephora for my beauty stuff but this was the first time and THE LAST TIME !!!!
