I walk in with my significant other and the store is packed with rude people from other customers to the employees. After finally making to the front of the awkwardly placed line all the cashier's nails were too long to deal with the freaking change!!! And the one male employee looks rudely across and asks "Do you want your change?"(Which was almost a dollar!) Pointing to the register "There isn't any and it'll take a while to get it..." And my polite S.O. Nods and says it's fine (the line behind us was huge) and they almost make off with an extra dollar of a tip they don't deserve after an already $200 purchase!!! After a small debate I marched back in and made the bitches struggle to empty rolls of coins into their register with their inch long nails. Their job up first is to be Good Cashiers. I came looking for a Kat Von D foundation because the one I ordered online was definitely not the same color as my skin tone. I can be really clueless when it comes to makeup, so when I got there, I asked one of the employees if she'd be willing to help me look for the right foundation. She was restocking, but took the time to apply different foundations on my face so I can determine which one was the correct color. After a couple minutes, I found the right one. I wish I could've gotten her name to give her credit, but overall, it was a good experience! read more

Embarrassing customer service. I visited this location with my daughter on a Sunday morning. There was maybe one more customer in the store at the time, 3 employees working, not one of them greeted me to see if there was anything they could help me with. I came there to get color matched for a concealer. By the time I chose a brand, Kat Von D, I started looking at the different options right next to the cash registers where the display was, 2 employees were standing right there chatting away & neither one of them said a word to me. When it was time to check out there was no friendly service, just your basic total & go. Because of location I cannot always avoid this Sephora, however I now try to seeing as this experience isn't the only time the employees have been rather lacking in the service department. Wish I could select ZERO STARTS. I visited this location yesterday while I was at the mall -- very disappointing. Not once was I asked if I needed help. In fact, I had to ask for help with finding a highlighter. The kind I wanted by TARTE ($48) was not available and I asked if she could recommend anything similar-- the lady said nothing else. Seriously you work in the make up department and you cant tell me if you have another highlighter that works great? No help whatsoever. I had to keep looking around for an assosicate to help me! It was not busy at all and the deparemtne was faily empty I am not sure if they were annoyed I was with two small children or what but no body helped at all. I am now having to go back and return a foundation as it was not a match... Lastly when I was rung up I was given all my make up in a plastic Macy's bag.... WOW. I have been shopping at Sephora for years and my make up is always given to me in the black and white stripped bag. Not this time -- the cashier ( associate 0764) bagged it for me in the white macy's plastic bag. No samples, no nothing. The service I received was the absolute worse -- I will not be returning here or recommending to any of my friends. Very dishearten that I gave my money to this poorly functioning department that lacks any type of management. read more

I am a VIP Rouge customer and you would think I get something for that. NO...Sephora inside JC Penney in N. County Escondido has by far THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVIVE. The 1st time I had to return something that didn't work, the rude manager had to stop me from speaking since he was flirting with an employee. The second time I had to return something, they couldn't scan my Driver's License so I needed to go to Fashion Valley or UTC. I just want to give kudos to the ladies working at this location especially Brenda who helped me out with my exchange. She kept her cool and a smile on her face even though there was some very rude and impatient customers in line . Sometimes people just don't understand that not only is it a weekend it is also the holiday season. This is the worst Sephora I have ever been too!!They have terrible customer service and don't listen to what you want. I asked for a full coverage foundation and they gave me a tinted moisturizer. I have gone in 3 times in the last 3 days and they have colored matched me wrong every time. The employees are not experienced and don't give you the time of day too listen to what you want. I have gone here frequently and I usually am not completely satisfied with the help I have received. I have been color matched every time to the wrong color and they never take their time with me... except I finally found someone who color matched me right and took their time with me! This Sephora has by far the worst customer service ever!!! With the exception of a couple of girls the rest are rude and don't care about making a customer happy. They are also the worse when it comes to returning without a receipt , I had a terrible experience with a girl named Luv, which claimed to be the manager unfortunately , she wanted to give me 40% off for no receipt when I tried to rerun an unused product . She claimed she had to do it since "things go on sale" when in the world do Anastasia products ever go on sale, for crying out loud?! it clearly showed I had bought the item on my recent purchases under my beauty insider, but she still wouldn't do it for me. She had the nastiest attitude ever , wouldn't even apologize for not wanting to do it. So I took my return to another Sephora and guess what?! I got full credit for my return no questions asked . So I called her up to let her know I was able to do my return and just wanted to tell her she should have a better attitude, so when I told her what happened her response was "SO WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" This "manager" was unbelievable ! I have decided to stick to the Sephora in Carlsbad the girls are very nice there and actually seem to care. read more

Do not recommend BRENDA. I arrived at sephora at 8 just needed quick help with the kat von d lipsticks. Wanted to leave before 9 because I hate when people are still shopping past the closing time, Waited around for 30 minutes until finally I was able to ask BRENDA for help. She then quoted "I can wait" with attitude. And that she had " two other more important clients" who already purchased their items to chit chat. I then discarded her help. I was so bitterly disappointed in the makeup job I got for a Halloween party I was going to be going to. My first costume party ever and I wanted a "professional" make up job. I wanted drama and got a brown smokey eye makeup with eyebrows that looked like Brooke Shields hadn't plucked in a decade. As I was in a dramatic costume, I had wanted the makeup to match. I called this location and the woman who answered the phone was very nice and managed to squeeze me in, which I totally appreciated. I kept telling her over the phone I wanted a dramatic over the top version of normal makeup, to show off the costume. She would reply with, "so you want pretty." Well, yes I do want pretty, but I want lashes and liner and glitter and everything! What I got was exactly opposite of what I wanted. I tried to explain, drama, costume, over the top, with black eye liner, sparkles ,etc etc. I kept getting the feeling she didn't want to do that kind of make up and kept steering me towards a"make under." After 45 frustrating minutes, I got up and told her I would like to leave, we weren't on the same page and thank you. She was nice enough to ask if I would like another make up artist, but at this point I would be late and I just wanted to leave. Thankfully I was not charged. I got home to wash off the makeup and when walking in, my fiancee (who I called on the way home) came around the corner and collapsed in laughter. He said it looked like a 4th grader did it. After getting the make up off, I did it myself and it actually turned out better than I expected. I will never go back there. The young lady who was doing my makeup was very nice, I just don't think she understood what I was looking for. It was Halloween, not a Sunday brunch at the beach! read more

WORST SEPHORA EVER!! Whoever runs this store needs to be fired immediately! I don't understand why this Sephora is in business. Every time I go in, they never have anything in stock. They always tell me "Come back Tuesday" and guess what?? They still didn't restock. They've had the same 5 ugly shades of Kat Von D liquid lipsticks for the past 4 months. They don't even bother to get more. Ugh, this store just screams cheap to me, same with the employees. You can't even swatch any of the testers, they're all crusty, dry and have no product left. They don't bother to replace them either but I'm not surprised! If they can't even stock this store properly then they shouldn't even be open. Period. I also don't appreciate being hounded and followed by 6 different employees in this dinky ass store either. I can't even browse in peace without employees making sure I don't steal makeup. Went to this Sephora inside JCpenny asking for my birthday Sephora Beauty Insider free gift, and the girl at the checkout working last night 01/31/2016 at 6pm shift, told me they ran out of both options, and had last years gift. She asked when my actual birthday was, and I told her beginning of the month. She told me you are only allowed to receive the gift 2 weeks prior to your birthday and 2 weeks after it. And since its late already, she would deduct 100 points if I did want last years gift set. I told her, the email I received said "claim in your birthday month" not 2 weeks prior/2 weeks after your birthday. And she said no, these are the rules. So I said no, I will be ordering online then to receive my gift. And sure enough, I did it and got it with NO problem. This location should get updated on their info for the store, or she could have been a bit nicer. Won't be shopping or supporting this location anymore!!
