I went in to Sephora today with my son and my boyfriend we went to buy cologne and get myself make up , right away when we went to the perfume area this employee with blonde tips light skin she was wearing like brown lips started to stare and keep looking like if we were gonna steal she made us so uncomfortable so my boyfriend went to go ask her if they had a another bottle of the same perfume , so when we we standing in line waiting to pay she kept looking at me like if I had anything in my stroller and kept staring it make us uncomfortable that we didn't even purchase the items and we left , never going to sephora I'm sticking to ULTA ! read more

Dylan was so nice and helpful! The Olaplex shampoo was sold out- but Dylan recommended another shampoo that meets all my needs as far as shampoo! Dylan was super friendly and professional from the moment I stepped into the store to when I was leaving. Thank you! read more

The help here is slim to none. Also, Saul is the rudest person ever. Be careful how you talk to customers. This store is in some serious need of help. read more

I always look forward to my random trips to Sephora to try out some new makeup and learn about what Products would work best for me. I've been to this location 3 times now and every time I've been straight up ignored. The employees are always talking to one another but had no problem ignoring their customers. I love when they give me help and suggestions on makeup to try! But at this location I never ever receive any of that great customer service. It's disappointing :( and if I ask a question, they seem so rushed and annoyed. From now on I'll make the extra long trip to The UTC mall instead read more

My visit to to Sephora was such s pleasure thanks to Julian. I had questions about finding s good face primer and mask. He was helpful and knowledgeable:) During my shopping their was a disgruntled customer. Julian handled himself in a professional manner. Such a great experience. read more

Don't waste your time here, everything is always out of stock the girls and that one guy are rude af. I would always come here cause I live 2 min from this Sephora but I always end up leaving in a bad mood and now I'd rather drive to Carlsbad. They're all ugly people under all that makeup. read more

You would think Monday afternoon wouldn't be busy. Wrong. It's understaffed and when you do get someone to help you, they pass you off to someone else. And neither of them remember what you actually asked them to find. What you want is likely not carried at this location. Exasperating. read more

BUYER BEWARE. I am a VIB Rouge and do a lot of my shopping online. This Sephora is on the way home from school so I bring my returns here. There are always issues with returns even when i have the receipt and item!!! They want to see your order confirmation email and apparently now ID. I'll stick to UTC & Fashion Valley from now on. Horrible customer service and lack of appreciation for high paying customers. read more

Terrible experience. The answer is always no. Can you look up my receipt from my VIB account? Associate answer: No. Oh I found my receipt! Hands over ID for return, associate: I can't manually enter your ID info. I can't accept your return. What? Are you physically unable to? Is your system down? All you get are blank stares. Don't waste your time here. read more

I've been going to this Sephora for years now since it's the closest to my house. I stopped going for a while because the customer service was horrible. But I gave it another chance the past month and I was stunned, I don't know if they changed management or something but it is a whole lot better. Allllllll of the employees are super nice they take their time if you have any questions. Special shout out to Marissa super nice and knows a lot. Thanks for helping my sister and I, we definitely learned a lot of new tips on eyebrows. Thank you also, everyone that have helped us as well. read more

Small store because it is inside JCPenney. It has the basics and enough to keep a makeup junkie occupied. Most importantly the customer service here is fantastic. read more

Sephora needs to get out of JCPenney stores. It's hurting their reputation. Worst service from uneducated employees. I don't know why I expected them to even know how to color match a foundation to my complexion. I had to come back two days later to exchange colors, exact same foundation. They couldn't do an even exchange because they're in JCPenney. Would've charged me $30 in addition to what I've already paid for the exact same foundation. That's a joke. Disappointing to say the least. I will definitely be going to a real Sephora going forward. read more

This store is usually disorganized and most employees offer to help you without really wanting to help you. I went in for the 20% sale they were having for rouge members. Usually, when they have 20% going on, there is no coupon needed and the discount is automatically applied to my purchase. Upon checking out, I noticed that I didn't receive 20% so I went back up to the cashier I had to ask her about it. During my initial purchase, she seemed disinterested in me and handed me my purchase without so much as a thank you or come again. So I was not looking forward to talking with her again. Instead of apologizing for the confusion, I guess I did need to bring a coupon, she simply rolled her eyes and said, "Did you have a coupon?" I told her why I didn't think I needed one and no I didn't ever receive an email with one and again, instead of apologizing, she takes back my products, returns them, repurchases them using 20% off, and then gives it back to me with a new receipt saying I should be getting that money back and that was it. I understand now that it was my error but part of working in retail is empathizing/being understanding with customers and not making them feel like a nuisance or stupid which I felt like with her. They need a nicer location in Escondido with more people who genuinely care. read more

This is the closest Sephora I can get to without having to drive all the way down to Fashion Valley. The workers I've come across have been pretty friendly and helpful. My only real complaint about this Sephora is that they are always out of stock of some of their more sought after/popular products. And they don't restock items fast enough because even after dropping by 2 Saturdays in a row, they were still out of stock of Kat Von D's Bow n Arrow as well as some Anastasia brow products. read more

Carlos was so helpful! He matched my skin tone and suggested a foundation for my wedding. He also suggested a certain concealer and explained why he had suggested each. He was friendly and kind and made me feel comfortable. Thanks, Carlos!! read more

Keisha is so nice and beyond helpful. If you have the chance get assistance from her.

They're always low or out of stock. Always. I keep going back because it's much closer to my house than other stores, but I'm consistently disappointed. Not to mention, their customer service is below average and no where near that of other Sephora locations. read more

Honestly this location isn't the best, don't expect to get help if it means going out of the employees way, they will all ask you "if you're doing alright" but if you actually require assistance, it's a burden. But this review is for BRENDA. Cuz she was the only one who actually knew what she was talking about and when I asked if they had something in the back, even after I was told "no" by multiple associates, Brenda went to the back, knew the exact product I was talking about, and brought it to me. She was even cashiering so I guess technically it wasn't even her responsibility. My advice: be like Brenda. Brenda knows her customer service. read more

A few days ago It was my first time coming into Sephora. I was greeted immediately and was helped throughout my entire process. The employee was very kind and very helpful. She had a very sincere voice, wanting to help me find the right product for my needs. She was also very informative about how the store runs and where everything was and which products were the best. I don't know very much about make up so having her by my side at the store made me feel very comfortable. I wish I remembered her name because she had made my experience wonderful and has made me a returning customer! (I have assoc # 0966 if that helps Sephora!) On another note, their returns policy is amazing! 45 DAYS to try your product and if you don't like it you get a refund! This exact policy is why I am not one bit worried to come back and try new products I've never tried before. Definitely my new go-to store for make up. Thank you ladies so much! read more

I went into Sephora today and there was a long line to pay. I ran out of foundation so I went for a quick pick up. Once I got there I realized I didn't know my shade so I was like ohh I'm sure they can pull it up on my past history. There was a long like and when I get to the front the girl tried her best to help me but the system didn't allow her to see my past history. They offered to match me right there it took less than 5 min and the girls there were super friendly. Thank you ladies for the positive attitude you all work hard during the holidays and me as a customer I am satisfied when I walk into Sephora and see the employees happy and friendly instead of being stuck up. read more

Rudest employees I have ever come in contact with. Definitely in need of some customer service retraining. The way in which they handle requests of any kind is always no as a previous reviewer has said. They also will scold you if you venture into grabbing your own lipsticks to spite the fact that it is their fault that there is no stocked inventory ever available. Also may want to say employee only if you are going to have such a policy. Will definitely be going out of my way to avoid this Sephora location. read more

Recently came here to return a product I was not satisfied with. The lady said she could not find the purchase on the computer EVEN when I gave her the original receipt. She then tried explaining that I had a 30-60 day window for the return when it does not say that on the back of the receipt at all. It says they would gladly credit me with the original receipt. Don't waste your time here. The staff is TRASH. read more

I like this location! They don't have all the brands of a regular Sephora store but the ladies are always nice and I feel comfortable there! It's not too busy and I can ask all the question I want without having to wait! read more

The customer service here is just terrible. I always see about 5 employee standing around doing nothing but talking to each other and on their phones. Can't even get a simple hello when u walk in. The girls and boys at this location act snobbish and i always leave in a bad mood. Apart from the service....THIS STORE IS NEVER STOCKED. And the displays are dirty and they don't maintain it. If I could give zero stars I would. Save yourself a trip and go to a real Sephora. Or even MAC. read more

I came a long time ago and asked for assistance for max coverage with my acne scars. The associate flat out said there's nothing that will help me and kinda looked at me like she felt sorry for me. Worst customer service I've had at makeup store...I'm a huge customer I spend a lot of money I expected a little more actually everyone should be treated with the same respect. Great Sephora if you have a general idea of what you're looking for. It's a smaller store inside JCPenny's, so they don't have as many products as other locations. If you really need a specific product, do some research ahead of time to check if this location has it. The absolute best part of my visit was Marisa! Girl, thank you. I was in need of some new foundation/primer and Marisa was beyond helpful. She took plenty of time asking me questions about my skin type, what I was looking for in the products, what my typical routine was etc. She showed me options and let me test them out. And she actually explained what the differences between products were. Her product knowledge was superb (differences in ingredients, general company info etc.). When it came time to actually apply the makeup, she did one half of my face and then coached me as I did the other half. She actually seemed to care that I learned something and felt comfortable with all of the products. I had my makeup bag with me and she showed me how to better use the tools/products that I already owned. She wasn't pushy about sales at all and didn't try to upsell me on anything. Such wonderful service! Even though this is a smaller location, I would go back to the this store over a larger one just to see Marisa again. I asked Marisa if there was a store survey I could fill out so I could leave a nice comment (there was no place to actually write in comments about employees so I figured I would do it here). She said yes and that it would be on the receipt. When I saw the cashier I told her who was helping me and that it had been great. She didn't seem to care and didn't mention the survey at all. read more

I'm so upset , I came to shop here and found some things I liked which by the way no one helped me or even asked if I needed help. I finish and I'm ready to purchase so I give my beauty insider card to the associate and she gives me the wrong card back, i only find out later when I try shopping again. They should really clean up their area because that's obviously how it got mixed up ! read more

So I called ahead looking for a product from the Murad line and they said that they had it. I live 45 minutes away from the store so they said theyd set it aside for me. I got there and turns out, it wasnt the right product at all. They didnt apologize and werent at all helpful after I asked them for the right product. How hard would it have been to ask me to repeat myself over the phone if you hadnt heard me or didnt know what I was asking about? Instead, an hour and a half of my life was wasted. Not to mention gas money. Not happy. read more

Great service. Almost unreadable receipt and they were able to return an eyeliner I didn't love. Always friendly service. I like the variety of different products at different prices. read more

My friends and I have been disappointed the times we've attempted to shop. They literally don't have hardly any staff. You can't get help. Secondly, they don't stock items well, the three of us wanted different products and they didn't have what we needed. It's the same way every time. read more

Are you serious right now???? Hands down WORST experience I have EVER had at (I hesitate to even call this Sephora). First of all, I don't think anyone willfully chooses to visit a JCPenney Sephora for anything other than convienece. In this case, the lack of a full store in this mall brought me here to exchange something from online. The section resembled downtown Iraq-chaos, crap everywhere, bare shelves, displays that had been trashed by consumers digging their dirty fingers into everything....and despite about 5 clerks standing around not one asked me if I needed help. Empty bottles, no tissues, and nothing in stock made me quickly realize this would be an in and out trip. I got what I needed and approached the counter, handed the cashier my receipt and product. Then I am informed they also need the shipping notification from my phone. No problem either.....THEN I am issued a "warning slip" for potential future denial of "non receipt returns" at Sephora?!??? WHAT??! Apparently when you return at these sub-par stores every transaction is considered "non receipt" because it isn't connected. I buy A LOT of makeup online. While I keep things I love, you bet your booty I will return something that doesn't knock my socks off-especially when I'm dropping $65-$75 bucks on a bottle of foundation that cakes and creases. Overall, if you can find a real Sephora it is going to be worth the effort to either wait or walk further in a mall to get to it. read more

I'm iffy on giving them 3 stars but it isn't completely terrible. I have a vib insider card despite not doing full blown makeup every day, today I went in with it being the last day of the 20% for vib and vib Rouge third time here in the last month and each time it's been pretty consistent. Only two maybe three (if you can find the third) people working and all usually at the register. Finally after about 30 minutes of attempting eye contact and a desperate please help me look one finally walked by me and I snagged her (not invisible I do have a toddler with me) I wanted to get color matched which I did....except she did it on the back of her hand and it was nowhere close to my complexion. Finally gave up took my three things to the register, waited a bit gave them my vib info and discount card, got my receipt and was told thank you..... asked for the bag you're supposed to get with the card went through the whole vib info dance again then on my merry way. The cashier was sweet but definitely new (she was a lot better today then the recent trips) the other lady mainly hovered and wasn't very helpful. If you are running in here and know exactly what you want then it isn't bad, small selection but that's normal for the smaller stores. If you need questions, more help and selection and don't want to aimlessly wander a store not big enough for wandering then try a different one. P.s. for not being busy it isn't that hard to restock the philosophy body washes when the drawers under the display are full of the regular non seasonal merchandise read more

This Sephora has the most TERRIBLE costumer service. Nothing is ever stocked. I rather drive all the way down to the La Jolla location, there I at least am greeted and welcomed. Terrible customer service! I am a vib rouge , and I shop this location so much! But today will be my last.. They were so rude because I had to do a return and I had used my 20% so I wanted to swap it out for a discount .. I literally had to argue with the lady like as if my 20% was coming out of her pocket. I work retail and I know the guidelines.. I wasn't asking for a 20% on a huge transaction I just wanted to exchange. She tried telling me she was doing me a huge and last favor, but the deadline is the 23rd so there should have been no issue. And to top it off they gave me the wrong color so I drove all the way to Carlsbad so I won't have to deal with them no longer.
