I haven't been into a Sephora in quite a few years, but in the last year or so started stopping in with my daughter. The store is always clean and well-maintained. Everyone working is always very nice We've been twice recently for my daughter to get help color matching her foundation. Once in the summer and once in the winter. Both girls working were wonderful and really did a great job finding a shade that worked for her. I have always been treated very nicely by the staff. They always go out of their way to find exclusive items. I do use the app FIRST wich is very helpful. The app lets me know where the item are and good sales. Sometimes they close earlier than posted times, wich I understand because of COVID.This store carries brands made by POC such as Faded. I went to the store to pick up an online purchse not realizing that the store was closed. I saw people inside so I gently tugged on the door but both sides were locked. I made eye contact with one of the store assocites. I'll never forget her face because she literally laughed at me. I felt so humiliated. PRESSURES CUSTOMERS TO PURCHASE PRODUCTS THEY DO NOT WANT, WHILE HAVING A HARSH TONE. We move around every few years or so and I can say that I've received bad customer service at just about every Sephora store I've been to around the country. At this Sephora they do a great job at greeting you and approaching you while you're shopping to make sure you've been taken care of. I do like this! This is something the Sephora stores in L.A. and Charlottesville didn't do. I've previously used Anstasia Beverly Hills cream contour and highlight pallet. However, they do not make this product, and now you have to choose between the cream contour and highlight sticks (highlight and contour sticks sold separately) or a powder contour pallet. I've been told that the cream contour stick is the same formula as the cream contour pallet I used to use, so I was interested in purchasing those. A Sephora representative approached me and asked if I would like to look at color samples (they have to handle the testers now because of covid, which is totally understandable). I told him I wanted to look at the banana shade highlight cream stick and a few of the contour sticks. First, he lied and said they were out of the contour sticks and wanted to redirect me to other products. I saw they had contour sticks in the shelf though. I asked if he could swatch them for me (on a napkin or whatever they use now due to covid). He said he couldn't because they were out of testers but I saw them right in front of us. I told him that I would go ahead and take the banana shade anyway since I like to highlight above my cheekbones and under my eye. He told me no that I needed to use concealer for that. That's fine, most people do but I like using the banana shade highlight and I've been doing it for years. I also put that shade down the middle of my nose and above my Cupid's bow. By this point he had gotten a rude tone and said he would just find someone else to help me. I finally walked away and found a nice lady to help me but again she tried to steer me away and look at other products. I told her I just wanted to look at the cream contour sticks by Anastasia, I'm familiar with the cosmetic line and I've been happy with it. She swatched them for me on a napkin but then proceeded to steer me to other products. Even though she was using a pressure tactic as well, she did have a nicer tone and she did take the time to help my little 7 year old daughter find a lip gloss. I thought that was very nice of her. She's the only reason I'm leaving two stars and not one star on this review. This is not the first time I've been told not to purchase a brand that I prefer and that I've been using for a while. I've thought about it and they are using the same sales technique that I was taught when I was in sales a long time ago. You steer the customer away to a different product that currently is partnering with the store to push more products and in return the employees/store gets an incentive. I respect that they have a job to do, but once a customer declines, especially a customer who knows what they want, then move on because pressuring them will end up driving them away. Also, don't lie to the costumer. If you're truly a good salesperson, then you don't need to lie to make a sale. It's sad to say but for now on I think I'm going to just buy the products I need right from the company's website (Anastasia, Peter Thomas Roth, etc.) instead of going through Sephora at all. I'm done with this store, even online. If you're looking for a cosmetic store with good customer service, Ulta is usually the best bet. read more

Today marks my very first Sephora experience. Yes, I was a Sephora virgin. Several reviewers have likened it to a candy store and they are so right. I immeditaly knew I was out of my comfort zone, having been mostly a drug-store makeup consumer for eons now. I felt a little (no, a lot) awkward as they were busy as bees in a hive on a Saturday afternoon. Nonetheless, I forced myself to walk up to a staff member and was so graciously and cordially helped. In the end, I was helped by no fewer than 4 attendants for various products. They made me feel welcome and as though I was the most important client in their store. Impressive! They managed to answer all my questions as I sought to change up my facial cleansing program and makeup. Most impressive? Not one of them gravitated toward the highest price points of any of the products I bought. Kudos! I ended up purchasing skin care, foundation, powder, a makeup brush, mascara, eyeliner, and makeup remover all within my budget without my telling them what my budget was upfront. This Sephora is located at the back of the Greene. It's easy to find since it's near the corner. Every time I come in here, I feel like a kid in the candy store. There is so much makeup to choose from and I would like to have a little bit of everything! The staff at Sephora are friendly and welcoming. They always ask if you need help with anything which is nice. If you love makeup and beauty products, then this is the place for you. Sephora always makes me feel like the proverbial "kid in a candy store" no matter which location. This particular Sephora has the added bonus of being located in the lovely "The Greene" shopping mecca in Dayton. Having all those premium brands of make-up to touch, feel, and play with makes for a happy day of shopping. I also love the Sephora-brand line of make-up, tools and brushes. Sales associates in this location are very helpful. I shopped the day before Christmas Eve and the store was bustling with last minute shoppers. I managed to have two different associates ask me if I needed help, something that barely happens at other Sephora stores on non-holidays. I really appreciated that! The line also moved very quickly. Sephora how I love thee, let me count the ways. I feel like a kid in a candy shop when I'm in this store. If you are a makeup junkie you will LOVE this place. They don't only have makeup either. They have fragrances, hair products, beauty tools, nail polish, skin care, etc! You can seriously browse for hours (if you're a freak like me) and try samples of almost all of their products. The brands they have in their store are impressive as well: Makeup Forever, Tarte, Lorac, Bare Escentuals, Clinque, and the Sephora brand just to name a few Their website is great because there are product reviews by real people, and you can ask questions about a product and get it answered by real customers. (Much like Yelp). You can also get a makeover by one of their associates, you have to call and make an appointment for this though. But their associates are always walking around and more than willing to help out or give product recommendations. The only drawback is the prices. They never really haves sales, discounts, or coupons. Also they won't have gift bags or sample products like your department stores have. If you have a members rewards card you do get some nice rewards, but you have to spend upwards of $500 to get any read more

And Sephora is my go-to place for all things prettifying. I'm used to the Sephora in Columbus, but I couldn't help but stop in here this weekend and take a look around. It has everything that the other stores have and the staff was pretty friendly as well. I looked at a few things, but as I had just made a major purchase online, I just couldn't justify purchasing anything today. But one of the sales staff did give me a sample lip balm that I was interested in trying so I may be back sooner than I think! A tip for anyone who is going into Sephora for the 1st time. This locations staff is very hands on. I worked with such a pleasant girl about 1 month ago. She did a perfect job at shade matching me and helping me shop around for a wedding lip color and skin care. I knocked off one star because their loss prevention is extreme and they hover. Not me personally but I saw it with other clients. I probably would have experienced the same had they not seen me park my Benz up front and walk in with a LV or Gucci bag, both times I was here. I'm not big into wearing make-up, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when I asked an employee there to help me create a smokey eye look with some cool purple eyeshadow. When she grabbed several different eyeshadows and some primer, I was starting to think that she was just going to push as many products as possible on me. Boy was I wrong! Before she started, she asked me about my make-up routine and I informed her that I was usually just an eyeshadow/eyeliner girl. She totally respected that and stuck with just the eyes. A little primer, three different shadows, and a bit of eye liner, just what I wanted! She didn't try to push a lot on me- just recommended that if I wanted the eyeshadow to be bolder, I should try a tiny bit of primer. She even gave me a free sample- a freaking HUGE free sample. I only need a tiny dab of primer. With the amount she gave me, I have over 2 months worth of this stuff! On top of that, she was just a really friendly, helpful person. Knowing that she wasn't going to push unwanted make-up products on me really made me feel comfortable asking her for advice. Definitely a very positive experience that made me want to come back here again. I always enjoy visiting this particular Sephora. I've been a frequent customer, and everyone is always polite, smiling, and helpful! The store's brightly lit and attractive displays for cosmetic and skincare brands look beautiful and pristine. Each stand's side has samples and hygienic supplies for customers to use. I WOULD LIVE HERE IF I COULD!!! I absolutely love this place!!! I am a make-up junkie and a nail polish freak and I never leave without at LEAST 1 little item...it's not humanly possible. You will pay a little more than at Walmart or Target but the quality is a lot higher. Don't get me wrong, I still love Mabelline and L'oreal but my preferences are Urban Decay, Tokidoki, 2-Faced and Smashbox. That's just for make-up and doesn't include hair and skin care, perfume and of course OPI nail polish. I need to cut it off or I will type all night. I'm on the fence about my feelings with this Sephora store. Almost every time I have come into this store I feel like I am ignored. Most of the employees repeatedly pass by me and ask other ladies if they need help or simply fake smile at me and not engage in any conversation. I think it is because I am just an average girl. I don't wear lots of makeup or have a Coach bag slung over my shoulder. I spent almost $75 on hair products in here today & I wish I would have went to Ulta instead. I am getting married this fall & asked the cashier if Sephora offers any facials/makeovers. She was nice but told me you have to spend $125 on a gift card for a beauty consultation which is 90 minutes. I feel out of place here and I don't get the negative/cold vibes at Ulta as I do in Sephora. They have ignored me so many times in there that my fiance' noticed after coming back from Gamestop. He said "they seem to be walking up and being nicer to the women in here that look like they have a lot of money" :( read more
