I said yes and asked if he had heard of anything about the brand I was looking at. He said not the product I was trying, but other products. I then asked if he could tell which tiny looked better because I felt I was between two and he agreed. He said he could make me a sample to take home and make sure I liked it before I bought the two to mix. I said that would be great! And then asked if he knew of other tinted moisturizers that he liked or heard good things about. He took me around the store and showed me a few brands before making my samples. I am grateful that sephora is allowing samples again because it will definitely help prevent returns. Thank you sephora and thank you Jake!

Tonight Dominique helped me with returns and Lanihya helped me match my brow color, check out other products, and answer my many questions about pigmentation and appropriate skin products. I'm grateful that they were both extremely patient with me, knowledgeable, and kind. Great customer service! And a great assortment of items! It's a little bit of a drive to this location, but because of the above, it's worth it.

Overall Store: 5 This Sephora is located inside of JCPenney…read moreof Orland Square mall. It has a great selection of products for all skin types and skin colors. As a woman of color, I appreciate being able to walk into their store and find my shade of lipstick, concealer or foundation very quickly. They have all of the big brands and smaller brands too so you will have a lot to choose from. Overall Customer Service: 1 Their customer service agents are just sales people with no customer service skills. I asked for liquid eye liner. The customer service agent shows me the new Selena Gomez eye liner that's $20 a tube. Okay, so we are going expensive for a brand I hadn't tried before but sure I will try it. He starts describing the eye liner, and he says it's satin yadda yadda. It was actually matte not satin at all, which lead me to believe he didn't know what he was talking about. I also felt like he only referred me to that brand because it was $20 and new, or maybe he liked Selena Gomez, I can't be too sure. All I know is he knew nothing about the actual product and after describing it incorrectly he barely changed course. So I had two other items and when I went to the checkout he announced that he could not ring up JCPenney items. Wait what, this is a Sephora / JCPenney store so you should be able to ring me up the way other customer service people have when I have shopped here. I didn't actually say anything, but okay. He started talking about how he couldn't change the prices if it was ever wrong, or accept the coupons. I didn't make a fuss at all because it would've been a waste of my time but I did know he was outright lying. Sephora associates ring up JCPenney customers all the time and they can also scan coupons. He just didn't want the hassle of a price check, but he hadn't encountered any problems because he didn't actually attempt to ring it up. He just decided that he didn't want to be bothered with it. As a result, we had to stand in two lines to check out for three items. So right when he's done ringing up my eye liner he says,"How are you going to pay for this?" So keep in mind, I didn't give any push back when he refused to ring up my other two items, I didn't say a word but okay. So he pauses because he technically has to try to sell me a JCPenney's credit card. I smile and say,"My debit card". I have a JCPenney's card he doesn't know that because I'm not using it. I smile because how are you going to try to sell me a JCPenney's card after refusing to ring up my two items? Lol Once again, I didn't say anything. I just smiled because it was pretty obvious that it would be super awkward to ask someone to sign up for a store credit card after you denied to check them out for items from that store. Honestly, it was a polite and quiet encounter. I resigned to the fate that I didn't want to bother with trying to push him into checking out all of my items, but I wasn't going to sit through a sales pitch after he made his decision either. I am a JCPenney platinum customer. I've shopped at that store for a long time and will continue to do so, but I was incredibly unimpressed with my time at Sephora.

I did not have the receipt because usually my Sephora app is all I need, they look up the purchase. I was immediately told that can't be done when I asked the cashier/ salesperson. Maybe I was a little rude after that..But my rude was just saying..Your new, maybe you don't know protocol!! Being a Esthetician myself I would never treat a customer with disrespect regardless the situation..Obviously the day customer service was discussed she was absent..I will continue shopping at a different location.. You get to…read morecreate a lipstick, lip gloss or lip balm of your choice, with the price varying between each (around $40-75) and they also have packages with multiple items for more. The lady who guided us was knowledgeable and explained each step very well. She helped us prep our lips. You first decide what type of shade you want to create and she blends it, and gives it to you to try on. You can do this several times until you get a shade you like. I changed 3-4 times until I was happy with my color. You get to pick a scent if you'd like and your case and you can name it and decorate it. (They etch those customizations in for you.) I made a lip balm because those are moisturizing and it turned out so cute. My friend's granddaughter came with us and she designed a nice lip gloss. We were there for about 2 hours and it was so much fun! I was mentally comparing it to a perfume making class I attended and this was better in that there were no add ons for the customizations you choose. Everything we wanted was included so we didn't feel like they were nickel & diming us and it wasn't crazy expensive. You can upgrade or buy additional things like liners or a lip scrub, etc. but we weren't pressured. Loved that. I told my daughter about it and would go back. It's a fun place for a party or girls' outing too.

Ehhh, can I give it a 3.5???…read more But if I had to round up or down, had to round down to 3 stars for overall experience. I visited lip lab on a Saturday evening. The reservation was easy to make online. I walk past this place often headed to Ramen San and decided to give it a go after hearing another friend was planning a visit. Overall the staff was super accommodating to shifting our appointment time as needed. The lady helping us was kind and introduced herself. Idk I guess I expected to be a pinch more hands on and feel like I was in a lab myself (Bio major here). I wanted to squeeze and stir but none of that occurred. Our host just asked what we wanted. She didn't go through options with us or show all the products. So we both just said gloss. Being inquisitive I asked what the other two tubes were next to the pink gloss and learned it was shimmer. But this woman gave very little without being prompted. She was kind and polite. Just not very detailed. We were shown a printed color sheet of colors separated by bright, neutrals, deep etc to gage what color family you wanted . We were given a sugar scrub to get our lips ready. Once we picked a starting color she mixed it up. And gave it to us to try out. I felt like she was patient and kind but we were rushed the entire time. I thought it was just me and then my friend said the same thing when our host stepped away and went to have our tubes engraved. More on that later. But lots of room for tube customization. You get to pick your top, tube, and engraving. You also get to pick the scent of your gloss. I was very shocked that my one tube was $55 before tax or tip. I get they have to pay for materials, labor and overhead of the building but goodnesssss. My Dior lip gloss was less than this. Back on being rushed. Do you know at a restaurant when a server checks in every 5 minutes because they want to turn the table? That's how I felt here but THERE WERE OPEN SEATS. It's not like they had a long wait to sit down and get started. We were in and out. The wildest part was after paying, by the time we put our cards up and coats on, the host had her coat on as was WALKING OUT WITH US. Actually before us. That sealed the deal. I feel like she had somewhere to be and kind of ensured we were out in a timely fashion for her schedule. I get it we all have lives and responsibilities but I wish she would have handed us off to a host with more availability (if my assumption is correct). Even with the little card we got to keep. It looks like my formula is written down at the bottom for if I ever wanted to recreate it. Who knew?! She didn't explain anything extra to us. My friend asked if they made blush. Who knows... she didn't even show us the lipsticks or what all was an option to buy. Do they sell the lip scrub? Like I have no clue what my options truly were. I could def see this being fun for a big event. But for a just because night...idk. I personally won't return just because. Yet I'd come back for a birthday party or celebration if asked.
