I don't often get to have Korean food, so this was a real treat! For starters, it's in a lovely area, very walkable and nearby to numerous bakeries, in case you want dessert. My parents and I were seated promptly and immediately attended to, which was very nice. The menu is not very long, but everything on it looked delicious. I decided to order the dolsot bibimbap, something I was admittedly nervous to try since vegetables don't tend to be my favorite. I couldn't have made a better choice! The vegetables were all so flavorful and were actually grilling on the sides of the pot, which was a sight to see! Everything was perfectly seasoned, the marinade on the beef was delicious and I found myself wishing I had a second stomach to eat it all! My only, very minor complaint is that the fried egg ended up getting somewhat overcooked for my taste, but that's probably just a side effect of the dolsot style. I wish I lived closer because if I did, I would be in here every week sampling their menu. As it stands, I've been fantasizing about it all ever since. As for my parents, they ordered the seafood and scallion pancakes, which were well cooked with some delicious shrimp in them, and the Seoulville KFC, which I didn't try but it was given much praise by my father. This was a small place with all Korean dishes to choose from. The service was appreciated while the food came out very quickly. For appetizers, the bulgogi wrap ($16) and a small order of wings ($9) were ordered. The wrap was flax seeds flour rolled with bulgogi beef and various vegetables. There was also some type of mayo and teriyaki sauce (or eel sauce) on top. This was good. The wrap was light and held up with the beef filling. The beef was flavorful and paired well with both sauces. There were five wings. The sauce chosen was the sweet and spicy. Each wing was of good size while being very saucy. There was definitely more heat than sweet, but still ideal flavor. I did think they would be a tad crispier. For an entrée, I had the kimchi fried rice with beef ($22). This was solid. The fried egg was a little hard, but the rice had good flavor and was just overall tasty and well rounded. I also tried the bulgogi soup. The broth was outstanding. They also provided some broccoli, kimchi, noodles, and I believe glazed sweet potatoes as sides. The broccoli was great with a little sesame oil present. The sweet potatoes were pleasant as well. It's in a very walkable, cute downtown, and at least one table has a really nice view of the street outwards (note that the windows are tinted from the outside so check the hours in case they are open!) The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was fine, but they are very stingy with the banchans, and when I requested more to enjoy with my bibimbap, I was told that they would only refill once. Stopped here for lunch on a weekday afternoon. No crowds. Brought two friends who had never been. Service is prompt and responsive. We were seated right away. The setting is very simple, casual, and clean. Menu is on a QR code and you order with the host/server. We started with a half order of wings which were very well done, balanced sweet, spicy, and crispy. They also brought out a radish soup which was refreshing and a nice surprise. The banchan was broccoli, kimchi, and pickled radish. All were tasty. It would have been nice to have one more because the kimchi and radish were spiced/pickled similarly. We went in the early afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. They offer typical Korean dishes. We ordered the japchae noodles, beef bulgogi, and Korean pancakes. Everything tasted fine--nothing exceptional, but decent. Prices are on the higher side, though that seems to be the trend everywhere these days. My husband and I always enjoy dining at Seoulville. We recently visited on Thursday night around 6pm, before most people in Somerville come out for dinner. We were the first diners to arrive. We were greeted with a friendly hello and promptly seated in the contemporary but softly lit dining room. We ordered hot tea to drink, which hit the spot on a damp windy March evening. FYI, Seoulville is a BYOB restaurant. We enjoyed an appetizer sampler plate of "9 delicacies", various picked vegetables, steamed shrimp, Bulgogi meat and Korean mini pancakes. It was a light and tasty sampler. For dinner my husband had the bulgogi which is served with seasoned vegetables. He opted to add optional seasoned rice and a fried egg. I opted for the bulgogi soup which is the sliced prime rib served in a flavorful mushroom broth (I counted at least 3 different varieties of mushrooms in the broth. The broth also contained sliced jalapeño, carrots, and glass noodles. It is a hearty and filling soup. Both dishes were served piping hot in hot pots. Refills were provided for our hot tea. Although we have visited the restaurant several times over the past few years since it moved to its present location, this is my first review. The bibimbap and bulgogi were fine and were enhanced by the Korean BBQ sauce. I liked the persimmon drink and the burdock tea is warming on a cold day. The prices on the menu do not match what we were charged. For instance, the wings on the menu were $16 but we were charged $17. Other dishes were 2 or 3 dollars above the menu. I was craving some bibimbap, and my girlfriend suggested Seoulville since it has a chicken option unlike most places. We arrived around 9:00 PM and saw that there was no one there; we thought they were closing up even though they close at 10:00 PM. After speaking with them, they said the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM, which was fine by us since we knew what we were going to order. Once seated, we ordered right away and got the chicken bibimbap and jobchae. I liked my bibimbap but felt as though I needed more red sauce on it since I like my spice but didn't want to keep requesting more sauce from my waitress. My girlfriend liked her jobchae as well. Parking: Somerville has a lot of parking lots. You may have to walk a few minutes but it is also enjoyable to walk the streets of Somerville. Value: the pricing on the menu looked reasonable. We ordered the Seoulville K.F.C, Cheesy Spicy Chicken Special, Burdock Tea, Tong Samgyupsal Special. The Seoulville KFC fried chicken was tasty but be prepared for smaller sized chicken pieces. The cheesy spicy chicken special was our first time having cheese in our dish. After seeing it in so many Korean drama, we were eager to give it a try and it did not disappoint. It went so well with the spicy chicken and even better with the Tteokbokki. The oven baked pork belly was my favorite dish. Crispy on the outside yet juicy and tender on the inside left you wanting more and more. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fun fact, I permanently stained a shirt eating Jeyuk Bokkeum (spicy pork) here. I bought the same exact shirt and...stained it again, here, eating the same dish. I have since learned not to wear white to eat Korean food. Their banchan is high quality and if you mention that you don't eat certain ones, they will bring you something else instead (I'm growing, but there are certain preparations of fish that...I'm not there yet). Service is efficient and friendly and I've mostly been by for lunch. The spicy pork, beef bulgogi, and bibimbap all stand on their own. I have not tried their soups or stews, which would really uncover how they rank in relation to other Korean spots, but I'll try them eventually since the other dishes have not let me down yet. read more

Authentic! Flavorful! My friend and I shared some dishes and they were all excellent. Steamed egg was soft, served very hot, and had a nice flavor to it (pretty mild flavor, but the egg dish is supposed to be pretty mild). Spicy, cheesy chicken dish was delicious- not extremely spicy, but spicy enough from the gochujang sauce and had rice cakes, veggies, and good sized chicken pieces. The mozzarella cheese was super ooey-gooey and stringy - just how you would want it. Then the kimchi soup was my favorite. I like my soup more sour than spicy - this was the perfect amount of sour. Tofu in the soup was nice and soft. Came with a bowl of rice which was also great. I loved this place!! I wish they had tteokbokki...but sadly it was not on the menu. They have canned drinks, not fountain, but let me get to the food. The spicy pork entree with the rice and egg served in the stone bowl was sooooo good. However, the pork was way spicier (in a spicy but not savory/flavorful way) than I expected. The meal came with soup, which was good. And the portion size was great. Rolled into Seoulville 15 minutes before the kitchen was closing with a party of 9, but the owner and staff were so kind to let us come in and cooked a grand meal for us! The "Dolsot Bi Bim Bap" is what I have to get at every Korean restaurant, and this was one of the better ones I've had. I loved the mix of fresh and pickled vegetables, and the fried egg on top was shaped in a perfect circle AND perfectly crisped on the bottom with just enough runniness to spread throughout the rice when I mixed it up. I do think the quantity was rather meager for the price, but not bad. The Seafood and Scallion Pancake was also one of the better ones I've had. A generous helping of seafood in every bite, the pancake was fluffy, and it tasted like it had been cooked in fresh oil! Definitely worth getting as an appetizer for the table.
