I was so happy to see my spicy raw crab on the menu. Their sundubu-jjigae was delicious too. This may sound a little odd, but I actually rarely eat at Korean restaurants. But now that my parents live nearby, we've decided to start doing weekly little field trips exploring different Korean spots together. This was a great start. Service was really great- I love how attentive the servers are and how they refill banchans without us even asking. (So different from what we get in S Jersey :p). The place was spacious and clean. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner but it's worth the 40 min drive to come back.
Korean food was good. LA galbi was cooked well and their variety of banchan was appreciated. Customer service was good. Liked the ambiance.
I've been coming here for years, and the quality and consistency has never changed. I usually get their lunch specials. The portions are huge and the banchans are plentiful. I love the fried fish. A great little appetizer to start the feast. Definitely recommend. 9/10.
I am from Arizona and I have been to this place two times already. Whenever I go to PA, I HAVE TO GO HERE. It's one of my favorite Korean restaurants ever (and I have been to A LOT in the West Coast, Asia, and the especially Korea as well). Their sides are delicious, as well as the entrees of course. My favorite is the Galbijjim (and it's pretty affordable too with the amount of serving compared to the West Coast). It has a good ambiance too for dinner with friends and family, and the service is good as well. Wonderful tasty hot tea!

The soondubu was hot, not much seafood. But the service was abysmal--we had to look for service several times because it was never there. And not because they were super busy, they just seemed to be standing around.
The staff was very friendly and beyond courteous. The meal itself was slightly expensive, probably to make up for the complimentary appetizers. I personally would've rather had no starters and a cheaper meal, but some people may not agree. The flavor and spice of the broth was excellent, but very unnecessarily hot. The Dubu was boiling as it came out, which is probably for display reasons, but was completely too hot to eat in a reasonable time The restaurant was very busy and obviously has a lot of regulars so it could be the right place for you!

This spot is absolutely phenomenal -- hands down one of the best Korean meals I've had in town. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern and traditional, with clean lines, warm wood accents, and subtle Korean motifs that create a cozy, elevated dining space. It feels stylish but still welcoming. Service is fast and attentive -- they're on top of everything, including those all-important water refills. You never feel rushed, but you're never left waiting either. The bonchon (side dishes) are next-level -- not only do they serve the staples like kimchi and pickled radish, but they also offer fried fish, spare ribs, and unique seasonal picks, all well-seasoned and beautifully plated. You could make a meal off the sides alone. We ordered the raw marinated crab (ganjang gejang) -- salty, briny, and rich with umami, perfect over a bowl of hot rice. The galbi (grilled short ribs) were tender, juicy, and marinated just right with a savory-sweet glaze that caramelized beautifully on the grill. And the stir-fried squid had the perfect chewy texture with a punchy, spicy sauce that kept me going back for more. All three dishes were beautifully plated and flawlessly executed. This place came highly recommended to me, and now I totally get it. Whether you're a longtime fan of Korean cuisine or just dipping your toes in, DuBu is a must-try.

It is truly a good sign to see an attractive restaurant packed at lunch time with everyone talking in a positive upbeat way! The aroma's of good food fill the air. I spot a young man cleaning a table that has just been vacated and he welcomes us to this amazingly WOW lunch experience. I have to admit that I had questions but they were answered clearly and concisely. There are many menu options so you are bound to find something really good and you have multiple spice options. But I was wanting soup so I went with the DuBu Soup with Noodles plus some rice. I thought I was getting soup but I was getting a feast WOW!!!! It felt like I was at someone's home ... someone that wanted to make me happy. Fried fish (Ok, this tested my chopstick skills), a salad with ginger dressing, cucumber kimchi, regular kimchi, and a cold noodle salad. Yes, there was a unified WOW emitting from our table. Did I mention the excellent service? Well the service was grand!!! Each item was delicious and my DuBu soup was a huge portion I knew when I it was delivered to the table that I would be taking it home! Ok, one more WOW!!! I noticed lots of happy people taking bags of food with them ... happy, satisfied, with full stomachs. Plus the dining environment is awesome. So, if you are in the neighborhood stop by for an incredible meal and if you are a newbie just ask your questions because I am sure the. Excellent staff will guide you to enjoying a special meal. And, yes ... you will say WOW we certainly did!
We were happily surprised that such an authentic, tasty Korean restaurant exists near South Jersey without us having to make the trek all the way to Bergen to find that standard. The tofu was excellent and I really appreciated the add on options of croaker and stone pot rice. They also had interesting soondobu options and they pack on the ingredients. I've also never seen galbi as a side dish. I was so full and the price was hard to beat. Service was attentive and there is plenty of seating inside. It is also next to hmart. Highly recommend.
Food was so good! Our order was very red all around and spicy so the refreshing sides were very much appreciated in between inhaling the main dishes. We were really excited to try gejang for the first time. The sauce was so good and I'd say they gave us a decent amount for the price. Ask for gloves to keep your hands clean! The rice cakes was also a large portion despite being an appetizer. The real highlight was the bibimbap! So much flavor! Interior is clean and neat. Servers were all very polite and helpful. Also very speedy.

Delicious Korean food and insanely good value - definitely the best Korean I've had in the Philly area. As with most Korean places, our meals came with banchan, but this also included a light salad and entire fried fish for each guest with no extra charge! The appetizer sizes were also huge - we got the tteokbokki to share between three people and barely made a dent. The soondubu and bibimbap mains were also delicious. Not sure how you'd get here from the city without a car, but if you can figure it out, it was absolutely worth the trek. read more
Finally I tried DuBu and honestly speaking I'm a bit disappointed. I'm very familiar with Korean food (also traveled extensively in South Korea twice), and I feel the taste of food here a bit different from authentic Korean food--the difference may be huge but definitely noticeable if you've had a lot of Korean food before. The telltale sign is: They slightly messed up with the Korean seafood pancake; one side overcooked while the other undercooked. Service is friendly and efficient though, which is a redeeming feature. Monday evening, myself and my friend dined in, we got two stew and two dishes to share and i love that we can pick spiciness of the stew Serving staff Kevin was very pleasant, kind and attentive, the service was sublime, which makes our dining experience even better! I posted pictures of the food on my facebook, my friends were so interested and eager to try, some of them actually drove to the restaurant and got the same food togo. Really homey Korean vibes when you walk in. Be prepared for a wait at peak hours its can get crazy during those times Philly is not known for strong Korean food but this is the best we can get! Very solid soups and portions are huge! Ive been here many times and my favorites are the stir fried squid or pork belly, very flavorful! So I heard that the conclusion was that there was no decent Korean restaurant in downtown Philly area, which I found to be true. Someone recommended DuBu so even though it was a bit of a hike (train + uber combo) we decided to make a field trip to try this place. It's located in a big shopping center where HMart is an anchor. When you step inside DuBu, it's like you're transported to Korea. We were recommended SoonDuBu so we both got them. The side dishes were ok. Fried fish was a great touch and just like restaurants in Korea, but I was hoping for a bit more variety. It was no frills service, as water was constantly poured but no one asked how we are doing or if we needed anything. For authentic Korean food, I will likely return. read more
Was visiting Philly and heard this was the place to go for Korean food. We walked in for a late lunch on a weekend and were seated after waiting several minutes or so. Service was friendly but at times on the slower side. We ordered the donkatsu, LA galbi, and jaeyuk bokkeum and above all, I must say the portions were great. The donkatsu was fried well with a good crisp and the galbi/ribs were good. Clean spot all in all and can say it's a solid spot for good Korean food. Worth trying if in the area. read more
I got the vegetables sondubu it was a nice light dish that had great sides. I definitely enjoyed it. I got the water-based broth, but I feel like the beef broth might have more of a taste to it if you're interested in that overall the ambience was very nice the service. Everyone was very nice and they brought out the food very quickly, which I appreciated as well. You get a lot of size here which really adds to the dish next time. I definitely want to try more dishes, especially in the stone pots that they have maybe a rice dish. read more
authentic korean restaurant in elkins food with delicious food! i absolutely loved this spot, it's easily the best classic korean food i've had in the philly area, i just wish it was closer to the city. the banchan here was top notch, it even included fried yellow croaker. i ordered the dubu soup and my friend had the godeungeo gui. everything came out super fast and was piping hot. the food here is so flavorful, i definitely want to come back to try everything on the menu! cozy but decently spacious spot, we were seated at a booth near the entrance which was very comfortable. service was fast and efficient, everything came out immediately. this spot does get busy. we got there ~530p and were seated immediately, but there was a substantial wait outside by the time we left. read more

The food here is excellent. We started off with steamed dumplings, and they were delicious but fried dumplings here are my favorite. I had the galbeetang--the rib soup. They must have been cooking for a long time because the ribs were fall off the bone tender. And the broth was really rich and flavorful without being too much. Everyone was pleased with what they got. The service is quick and friendly. We got our food about within 20 minutes. Even when it gets busy, the service is pretty attentive. The ambiance is nice, well thought out. A nice place for either lunch or dinner, I've already introduced this place to a few friends! 10/10 would recommend. read more

Absolutely delicious food at DuBu! We started with the seafood pizza which was awesome. I had the Chef's special Galbi combo with eggs and fried rice and my husband had LA Galbi. Both of us greatly enjoyed the food, and the sides were excellent as well. Unfortunately, the service was pretty bad once our food came. No one came to our table to refill our waters or ask if we needed anything. We were dining around 8-830 so this may have been due to the time, but it definitely fell short. We were able to get seated right away, as opposed to the last time we tried to come around 6:30 and had to leave due to a time conflict after about 30 minutes of waiting. I'd absolutely come back for the great food, and maybe I'll just bring my water bottle next time lol. read more

Probably some of the best soondubu I've had in my life, but also I might be biased because I LOVE the army one which has my favorite sausage, spam, and beans. Such a generous portion of toppings!! Comes with rice! Other places usually charge MORE for army stew , but this place charges same for that and regular soondubu. The restaurant was so kind to let our table of 8 get seated first despite half of us running late. They were packed, so definitely go during off hours if you can! The fact that banchan included kalbi was so cool! You get three banchan to share, then a salad and a fish to eat individually. read more

My family and I were visiting Philadelphia this past weekend and decided to try some Korean BBQ. I eat KBBQ a lot so I was hip to the menu but my family not so much, I felt like our waiter and rude and short with my family. There was a group effort mix up with our food that another waiter wanted us to pay for which didn't seem fair in my opinion so I had to get up from the table and speak to management. He took care of it but the experience as a whole just wasn't that great. The food was good. I ordered LA galbi which I love and it was really good. I was also a fan of their Kimchi. My family ordered D3 and the Seafood Bulga and they also enjoyed their food as well. It was a clean atmosphere and kid friendly. What a hidden gem! This is my all time favorite Korean restaurant. The name DuBu actually translate to "tofu" so this place specializes in tofu dishes. I'm a sucker for tofu so I got so excited when I saw all these options that included tofu. Usually at Korean restaurants I either go for the spicy squid, tofu soup, or the galbi ribs. I can't believe they have the spicy squid with tofu option. That's like two of my favorite protein in one dish, of course I cannot resist! We ended up ordering the spicy squid tofu and my partner got the spicy pork kimchi tofu. I like how the sauces are different in both of the dishes. They lean towards of a sweet and savory type of sauce combo. I definitely like the squid one better. It is also not spicy which is good because we're not the best with hot spicy. Okay let's talk about the bonchon. They are unbelievably generous with the complimentary side dishes they serve. They came out with marinated short ribs, fried fish, broccoli, side salad, and kimchi! You can also ask for unlimited refills on any of the dishes and the staffs are so friendly and nonjudgmental. Although items like the salad and broccoli are kind of a strange Korean bonchon, we still enjoyed those vegetables. The short ribs were so good my partner couldn't stop talking about it. The entree portion sizes are huge! You can easily share one of those entree with two people. We ended up taking half of it to go which was the perfect amount for another meal. Some of the bonchon we didn't finish so we also packed that to go as well. Side note on the water they serve - it's infused with barley tea. That's why is has an ashy taste! (Barley tea is healthy for you and good for digestion) This place is located right next to the HMart so if you're ever shopping for your Asian grocery, this is a place you can't miss! We ordered some tofu soup and one combo. First, the spicy pork combo came, it has a very strong pig smell, we cannot eat it, it is so bad... so I asked for an exchange for the ribs... then this happened, I was so disgusted after the first bite . The meat is completely raw! Our tofu soup was not too hot neither, the egg was still not cooked after eating the whole bowl of tofu. It was such a bad experience. read more

Food: I think this is some of the best Korean food in Philadelphia. They have a rather large menu but I would say their speciality is definitely the soondubu. It always comes out boiling hot and I enjoy that they have spicy levels you can choose from. My favorite kind is the oyster soondubu. For side dishes, they always serve their fresh kimchi which is some of the best I've had. You always get a side salad with ginger dressing and a small fried fish. Otherwise, it varies between cucumber kimchi, bean sprouts, short ribs, glass noodles, and some others. Sometimes, I get full just from eating rice and side dishes! When they are not super busy, they will serve the scorched rice soup (tastes toasty like popcorn). Food is consistently good and flavorful. The raw marinated crab is a little expensive but worth it! Super fresh and delicious. Ambiance: Large restaurant that can accommodate larger groups. It can get quite loud during dinner hours and especially with the music blasting in the background. Overall, a very casual restaurant that is clean. Service: Everyone is polite. However, it can be hit or miss. After they serve you your food, they rarely stop by to refill your waters. Often find myself having to attempt flagging someone down for more napkins/water/side dishes multiple times. read more

Yes - solid food! Very traditional. Some dishes can be spicy, so be careful there.
Do they serve water-based soondubu? Do they have a (just tofu) option? Are the dumplings vegetarian?
They have water based soon dubu as long as you ask your waitress. Also the fried dumplings are vegetarian, but not the steamed ones!
