Sat inside at the bar service was okay but Upon receiving an actual LIVE BUG inside our taco which my girlfriend handled pretty well actually we sat confused as the waitress brought it back to the kitchen. The "Manager" didn't even acknowledge what just happened as he counted the money in the register and yes the waitress showed him it!!! I asked the waitress who was in charge and asked him "Hey don't you think we at least deserve a shot for that?" He replied no we don't do that here. Most places would have at least not charged for that item but they didn't give us a single break!! So here we are I made a Yelp account just to trash this Trashy Taco Stand. We came for Cinco De Mayo... and I know that was a busy time, but the place was JAM packed! We waited a bit and got a seat. But the ordering/food getting took a bit of time, and because it is a small place, it was LOUD! But the food was so delicious! The burrito with the plantain in it was amazing!! Pretty disappointing. Overall the food isn't particularly awful but it is easily matched at a similar or lower price point at many places on Long Island. The bigger issue for me is that they cheap out at every opportunity. Condiments are available at a bar rather than at each table, so good luck tracking something down if someone takes it. The wait staff wasn't exactly on point either. The worst part of the visit is that a $5-$7 order of "queso sauce" is gonna get you a styrofoam container with neon yellow nacho cheese "topping" straight out of a can and into the microwave before coming to your table. Solid choice for Mexican in the area. We had the veggie chili, nachos, street tacos, and chimichangas, and enjoyed all of them. Guacamole was on point, nachos and chimichangas were pleasing, and the tacos had a nice variety of flavors. There's also a new full-service bar here-- we didn't use it, but def worth noting. Friendly servers, and we had no issues at all picking vegetarian options (and same goes for vegan choices too). It's a cozy little neighborhood restaurant with solid ambience- we had a great time, so definitely two thumbs up! read more

As a former employee, I'll be objective, as I see many, many poor reviews. Being someone who has worked in a corporate environment for 15 years and currently works at an upscale Italian venue, I'll say this... #1. Senor Taco, is over worked and under staffed. If you find you've had a poor experience here, it's simply because a lot of the time (especially around 3 oclock) there may only be 1, yes 1 person minding the phones, tables AND bar... Senor Taco has a lot of take out business, between 12 and, shit, for the rest of the day until close, chances are, whoever's there is gonna hafta mind the phones. If ever there were (and it's happened to me on numerous occasions) 4 bar guests, and 3 tables, that 1 person (who's probably been there all day since open) will still have to find time to answer the phones, bc that's the biggest selling point. I've had to serve a 12 table section at a corporate business, and THAT was easier than what they expect from you at senor taco... #2. There is no host/hostess during peak hours, and there is absolutely zero organization amongst staff and management (when management is actually there). There is nobody to seat, there is no expeditor, there is nobody but a staff off people forced to weather the storm, half of which have little experience in the restaurant business. There are no sections, there are no table numbers, COMPLETE CHAOS from a restaurant stand point... that's why nobody knows what's going on, which is what I've read over and over again. #3 Serving food to sit in guests in trays and platters meant for take out? Is tacky and classless. The least you can do is have dishes and actual silverware (they do, but only if you order the carne asada). Now don't get me wrong, the food is delicious. A bit pricey depending on the item but in my opinion above average, and well worth it. I like the food. In all honesty however, I'd advise them to stick to take out if they can't afford to accommodate their in house guests with the proper hospitality. Honestly? When I was the 1 person there on a Saturday all day from 10 am till 4 or 5 before some help arrived? 1 seriously wanted to shoot myself too and hated being overwhelmed... My regulars always told me "I love the food... but I HATE the service..." and I don't blame them. I was embarrassed of the poor service when I was there. If anything I hope this review helps those who want to visit, get takeout (As to avoid poor service) bc again the food is great. Also I hope that it helps to open the eyes of the higher ups as to how a sit in business needs to be run... You're gonna need - a host, 2 servers, a Bartender, and an expeditor on a busy night. Consistent quality cuisine in house and take out. Never disappointed with their menu offerings and service. When I dine at an inexpensive restaurant I don't expect five star table service so all the people complaining about the staff are clueless. The young people that work here are polite, kind and do their best. Tried their red and white sangria but not a fan due to headaches after consuming just one drink. Be warned service is not great. Had to ask for water 3 times. And they forgot my food. However when the food came it was pretty good even though some of the orders were wrong. But then came the bill. And I know we were a party of 8 paying with different cards, but we all did the math and put which card number should be charged with what amount. The waitress came back and said she couldn't do the math and said she may charge us 50 cents more. We only ordered 1 or 2 tacos a piece and it was an hour and a half. I tried this place for the first time recently and was pretty underwhelmed overall. The girl at the front counter was very helpful and eager to share recommendations. The interior is strange...I almost felt like it was fake, like a tv show set or something. Idk maybe it's just me but it felt very strange in there. Crappy pop music played while the TVs played football games. I ordered the buffalo chicken empanadas to start. My sister claimed they taste like what she imagines dog food to taste like. I had to disagree because they were pretty flavorless overall. I tried the chicken tacos which were average, a little bland but luckily their hot sauce bar helped spice it up. I also had the southwest salad with shrimp which came with 5 small grilled shrimp. The lettuce was still dripping wet, so the salad was pretty watery and very basic. My sister ordered the chicken quesadilla which was tasty. Not likely to come back. I would much rather go to Mequite for some inspired Mexican. You'd probably be better off heading to Phil's next door for a taco or quesadilla. read more

I feel I need to update my review. While the food is still excellent, unfortunately the customer service is still disorganized and inefficient. My original rating was 4 stars. I was a little understanding when they first opened, but it has been many months now and they need to be more organized. They need to hire more workers. On a mid-week night, it should not take 45 minutes to get your take-out order (especially when they said 20-25 minutes). They lost our ticket during one visit and were going to help others behind us rather than fix the problem they created by misplacing our order. To try to "compensate" us for the error, they told us they'd give us free chips--the same chips they give to every customer anyway! They really need to get a better system in place at this location or they will start losing business. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that people can go to that won't take as long and that can be more careful with people's orders. read more

I was quite surprised with the quality and taste of Señor Taco, it took about a year for me to give into my wife's insisting to come in and try it. From the outside I would not have guessed the food was so good. I tried the tortilla soup which absolutely sold me on the place - because it was that good. I also tried their burrito bowl and empanadas while my wife had the street tacos, and empanadas. I would definately recommend Señor Taco and plan to visit their other location in Mount Sinai. I also have to comment that the service was very good and friendly and attentive they would come by to make sure everything was ok and asked if we needed refills with our drinks. read more

Great food and service. We usually call ahead and then pick up because it's not a big place and it gets pretty crowded. They recently added a small bar inside which is great. You can have a Margarita while you're waiting for your food! The only thing is I asked for my Margarita with Patron tequila and they charged me $15.00. I wouldn't have minded if I could taste the tequila and it was an actual bar, so that I thought was weird, but otherwise the food is really excellent. Señor Taco is a 'simple' neighborhood restaurant with wonderful fresh food, a clean environment, awesome sangria, and an easily accessible dressing bar. Dressing bar? Lol Basically, you can go up to this little bar and get additional salsa, hot sauce, etc. My favorite is the green, cilantro sauce. It's delicious!!! Last night while ordering one of our tacos we told the waiter no cheese on it because of an allergy. He repeated it back and said ok. When the taco came out it was loaded with cheese. We asked the waiter to please fix it. Then the manager came over and asked if we got menus when we came in. He asked if we read them. He said The taco cones with cheese. I told him twice that we specified to the waiter no cheese. How rude of him to ask if we read the menu! The waiter made the mistake. Along with that service was horrible. Forgetting to bring stuff if we reordered drinks, not really paying attention to us...etc. it's a shame. This used to be a nice enjoyable place to eat a quick bite. Not anymore! We won't be going back there again. Maybe this explains why the place was empty on a Saturday night. read more

Have you ever met anyone who, upon an intitial encounter seemed attractive and interesting? Then, as you became closer, you found they were actually really, truthfully, and profoundly screwed up? Well, that's this joint. And I know why: it's run by kids. There's no supervision, no organization, and no one ever bothered to hire individuals with a modicum of personality, problem-solving skills, or desire to make things right in an area of business that's all about customer service. but read on, this might be what the owner wants. Quick summary of "events" here: 1. Placed phone order. was told it would be "about 20 minutes." Was running late, and got there at 30 min after my call. My order? already picked up. "By whom," I inquired. "You," was the reply. Argument began with the staff saying how someone came in and pickup up the order, and it had to have been someone I'd sent. I was eating alone. I just left, hungry, and in a rush. 2. Ordered via phone. "20 minutes" was what I heard before being hung up on. Arrived at 20 min on the dot, and no order was ready. They couldn't find it. Re-ordered, and sat at the bar. Decided to get a beer. Glass was passed to me 1/2 full of beer, the rest foam. I said, "This is half a beer." I'd like the other half. the genius at the bar replied that they could only use one glass per order, as it would count as sharing. "OK," I said. "I will drink this, and you may pour me another one of half beer-half foam." They couldn't do that, as beer glasses could not be reused. after much hassle, which took about 20 minutes, I was not charged for the beer, and got my food. Order was incorrect, was told when I called back I would be credited. Which leads to... ...3. Ate at the restaurant. When finished, told server I had $37.00 in credit under my name , and would use that as the balance for the bill. Could not find my name in their drawer. Said I would have to pay, and if they found the credit, would allow that the next time. Replied I had credit, and certainly was not going to pay for this meal. They chose to argue with me. I took the initiative and used my "ghost" credit. 4. Another screw-up on take-away food. Was given the wrong order. Got home, and found this out, of course. Called, and was told I took the wrong one. informent them that I took the one I was given, with my receipts on it, but wrong stuff in bag. "Well, we have your stuff here." Told them I wanted new stuff cooked, did not want food that had gone home with someone. Third person on the line said, finally, "OK." Got there, found cold food in the bag. Would not give me money back, so did a chargeback with Visa. Screw these idiots. read more

The food was pretty good. Sadly the service took a while. I went in for take out Friday night, only one table of 2 at the time I walked in. I placed my order with all my questions answered very nicely. I then waited 35 minutes for 3 tacos, a burrito, a small appetizer, and tires leches cake (dessert wasn't great)=$35. I could've made my own in that time. I'll give it another shot possibly, but there's no reason for those items to take that long. One star for price and wait time. I eat here on a very regular basis. They have very fast service, and reasonable prices. I am always given a complimentary basket of chips and salsa whether I'm sitting down to eat or ordering take out. Good place to bring a date, or to go have a few drinks with some friends. Stopped in here the other day with my son. This place is kind cool looking. Set up of a little cantena. Our waitress was pretty helpful and service was fast enough. We both ordered the quesadilla 1 cheese and 1 pulled pork. Very tasty. Both came with sour cream and the free chips and salsa was nice. A bit pricey but again the food was good. Seems to be that everytime we go, they mess up an order. The reason we keep coming back is because we really like their food! What a great place! The dis was excellent, everything on the menu was fairly priced. I had the Taco salad worth ground beef, everything except the rice and beans, it was so delicious, I ordered another one to take home with me. For appetizer we ordered the chicken empanadas and the jalapeno poppers, again just delicious!
