Plus we are going international, this is stop number two of two. Atmosphere - Take a step into a Mexican restaurant. The colors pop in this frozen treat palace. Large display freezers line the south side of the place. Drooling over all the treats, labeled in Spanish with a smaller font in English. The font was still large enough for this old guy. Food - I have been wanting to try a Paletas for a long time. It was worth the wait and I will be trying more in my future. I had the gooseberry, I do love berries and this one did not disappoint. I did eat it a little to fast and caused a brain freeze to occur. Service - I was greeted in Spanish. I had no clue what she said, but I responded in English, and after that we were good. We were the only ones in the place that was speaking English. The staff was very patient with us, as it was the first time here and there are so many choices. Future - Everyone loved their treats. So I could see coming back here again.

Funny part is when I was parking I noticed the parking lot was not short of customers but I guess it was a moment in time and I hit just at the right time. What has been your experience at any place there are long lines?

So here's what I can tell you... First of all, foods and sweets vary depending on the region they're from, in this case, EL ZALATE is a small city in Sinaloa (from what I was told) So everyone makes these fruit concoctions differently. Second, the names to half of their desserts don't describe what you're ordering or what they have but THANKFULLY this small spot has large colorful posters all over their restaurant for you to get a visual of what you're ordering and what's in it. You can always ask them what's exactly in them, and they don't mind leaving things out if you ask. Lastly, the place is perfect for kids and families to enjoy an evening or after school snack. It's always clean, the employees are very polite and willing to explain all of their items on the Menu. They've been pretty spot-on with the things they advise (say you don't like peanuts, chile, or a specific fruit) but it's definitely not your typical ice cream spot. This is a place that will hook it up and there's definitely something on the Menu for everyone. My husband and I tried their juices and they were too sweet for our liking for being freshly made... Hibiscus [Jamaica] juice and Horchata. Lots of places in the valley that make them differently; heck, if you go next door to the Pupusa restaurant and try THEIR Salvadoran Horchata, you'll see what a HUGE difference there is considering it's from a completely different country. I highly recommend this to everyone and anyone with a sweet tooth wanting to try something different than your typical ice cream and yogurt spot. Sitting area is big enough for small groups. In a sketchy neighborhood but trust me, there's plenty of traffic in the area, you should be okay. We got out of the bike trail headed to the University of Phoenix stadium to get a quick refresher and were sold on the first visit. Authentic Mexican desserts, snacks, and everything in between.

There were three parties of people that walked in while we were in there and then sitting out on the really nice patio. Check your receipts and bank statements carefully before leaving this business!…read more I recently visited Neveria Chayos on Glendale &35th ave and noticed two major issues with how they calculate totals at checkout using their Clover system! #1 A Hidden Debit Card Fee: My printed receipt total was $44.25, but they manually inflated the checkout screen right before I swiped my debit card. My bank account was charged $45.25! Charging an un-itemized, hidden $1.00 fee on a debit card violates standard card network rules and federal regulations. #2 Inflated Sales Tax: They manually configured their register to charge a flat 10.0% sales tax on the receipt. In the City of Phoenix, the actual combined state, county, and city tax rate for restaurants/prepared food is 8.6%. They are artificially padding the tax line on every transaction. Watch the terminal screen closely when you pay here. I have already submitted formal compliance reports to the card networks and the Arizona Department of Revenue regarding these practices.
