I've had this place saved for so long, and was serendipitously in the area. It was Sunday around 1pm, and there was a short line of 3-4 parties ahead of me. Waited maybe a couple min, because they had 4-5 workers helping customers. It kinda reminded me of Porto's in LA (iykyk, so efficient). The lady who helped me was very patient - she helped clarify what items had fillings, and what flavors they were. I made my selection (strawaberry concha, dulce du leche-filled churro, guava empanada, DDL-filled cono rellano aka flaky and caramel-filled pastry, DDL-filled churro, corbata danes aka puff pastry w optionally flavored twist, conos de crema aka cream horn). Ate the cream horn immediately in the parking lot - delish. Loved the churro, which was maybe a foot long! Enjoyed the guava empanada as well. Concha was nice and soft, all the flaky pastries were amazing. Total was just under $17 (7 items) with cream horn being around ~$4. Didn't get any tortillas, but I saw them being made, hot off the press! Will definitely be back, esp for the filled items. They also had sooo many cookies, as well as a white cake topped w fruit. *Extra (small) charge if using a credit card, so cash to avoid this charge.* There was also a pop-up coffee shop in the parking lot (saw they packed up at 1pm though), which would be the perfect pairing for any La Purisima goodies. read more

I meant to tell you about this bakery, I often come here for various goodie's. This bakery is never short of customers and often the lines are long even no matter what time of the day it is. On this particular afternoon I surprised as I entered to find that I was the second person in line. They even had six registers going with six customers on each. So it was my turn to order and apparently as I was ordering the line behind me was completely full. I only mention this as this has never happened. Funny part is when I was parking I noticed the parking lot was not short of customers but I guess it was a moment in time and I hit just at the right time. When entering you can smell the baking of the pastries. Love, love the welcoming. The ladies are always busy but it is well worth the wait. The red and green tamales are so delicious. The flour tortillas are handmade made and are hot off the rack. Don't leave without trying one. Keep on baking with ! I'll keep coming back. read more

The best panderia in the Phoenix area, even though its technically Glendale. The second you walk in you get hit with the smell of sweetness. I've been coming here for years for freak and warm tortillas, and recently took my friend from Tucson here. His jaw hit the floor. He loaded up a giant box filled with about one of everything but my favorite is the tres colores (three colored) cookies. The service here is great and there is usually a line, but it typically moves quickly. During the holiday rushes like Christmas and Easter this place is packed so you have to eye up the parking lot to make sure you won't have to walk a block but it is so worth it. read more

I stop here maybe once a month to grab pan for my office... I should come more often but I just don't make it out that way unless I'm on my way to work. Such a nice little spot right before the freeway. Friendly service and always fresh baked pan, every morning I come in. Staff is so helpful in picking out just what I need. Best pan in the Valley!! They always make those mornings coffee some much better. read more

My favorite bakery while I was in Arizona! Parking can be difficult especially since it gets pretty busy and their parking lot is really small Service is decent. Expect long lines but the line moves pretty fast! Everything was so freshly made and affordable! They have a huge variety of conchas, empanadas, tortillas (MUST GET! $6/dozen), tamales, and tons of other Mexican goodies! The conchas were so delicious, soft, and colorful! However, don't go when they first open (6am) otherwise they aren't fresh! It was very affordable and $~2 each. 9/10 Empanadas come in so many different flavors - pineapple, apple, peach, cherry, strawberry, etc. They're so yummy, fresh, and stuffed with filling! Super reasonably priced (~$2). This was 8/10 for me The tortillas are a MUST! So fresh and such a good deal - $6/dozen! Super soft and delicious! Would totally recommend and return read more

I'd never been in here before and decided to stop in and grab some pastries for work. The bakery is large, and there were three cases of items to choose from, plus breads and conchas on the back wall. The woman who helped me was very nice and did speak some English. One of the best Hispanic bakeries in town. When you see the line out the door by the locals you know it's jackpot. They sell red and green burritos that are perfect in size and quite flavorful. They have such an assortment of sweet breads, pastries, donuts, and cookies. Very reasonable price. You can also order cakes. This is a no frills bakery, with very efficient service. The line is long but it moves quickly. Highly recommend read more

My brother who used to live in the Glendale area always used to bring back baked items and green chili burritos. My mom and I were in the area and decided to check it out. Wow what an updated bakery since we last visited! The staff were helpful and friendly. The area was clean and spacious. We ordered two green chili burritos to go. Wow! I get the hype! We came 45 mins before closing and the parking lot was packed (it's a small lot) lol but it still poured over to the other business parking. I mainly came because I like to find the best tortillas in each state and Reddit said La Purisima Bakery has the best flour tortillas. I wasn't sure if I wanted to make the stop before our flight but the bf wanted some sweet bread. While waiting for our flight, I took out the concha and man o man it's was the softest concha I have ever felt. It was almost 3 hours later when I tasted it and it was delish! I'm so sad I got 1 now I know when I'm back in Phoenix to get a dozen. Do not skip this bakery when you are in Phoenix! read more

This is a very popular bakery. Why? Because they make everything from scratch from the pan dulce, tamales, cakes, cookies, fresh flour tortillas, etc. All bakery items are delicious and crafted with care. Their staff is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions. Don't be intimidated by long lines because the line does move at a good pace. Went back a few weeks later just to buy tamales for our Super Bowl party and everyone loved them. Our friends took the remaining tamales home and left us with none. That's how delicious they were!! read more

You used to take the time to make quality food now I feel like the burritos and tamales are made days before and still being served to people days after. The tamales are so dried out like they've been sitting either in a freezer for weeks like you made them last fall or they are just old from sitting out. The burrito used to be four dollars and it's almost 6 dollars now and the size is smaller. I understand inflation but really you should put more quality into your products. read more

My family and I love pan dulce and this is quite a bit of a drive for us coming from Surprise but we keep coming back because of the quality and taste. (They have long lines for a reason) They offer so many options but our favorites have to be the concha, oreja, mantecado, & churros. My kids simply devour the fresh tortilla made in-house. A perfect little snack when had with butter. It's a difference you can taste immediately. We always leave with at least two dozen. We want to come back and try the chocoflan and so much more! read more

Our first time here at La Purisima and we were thoroughly pleased with the variety as well as the quality of the baked goods and tamales we ordered. It is a rather larger bakery so hard to miss when you drive by. As soon as you enter, you will see all the pastries, breads and goodies they have. My recommendation is the concha, this is likely the best tasting concha I ever had and would pair well with coffee. They also sell food like tamales burritos and menudos. The green and red tamales were super delicious and cheap. They sell burritos for $5 but we did not get to try it. Service is fast and she was really sweet helping us decide on what we wanted. The bakery is really cute with colorful art outside painted on the building. The interior is clean and organized. read more

Yes, on the weekends they have a line, but it's worth it. The staff is always friendly and assist with a sense of urgency. I cannot recommend their tamales enough; green or red, you can't go wrong, they're so delicious! And of course the pan, lots of varieties and always fresh. read more

I was told La Purisima is one of the best Hispanic bakeries in town. It fit the bill. I tried a little piggy cookie. Not exactly sure what the underlying flavour is? Gingerbread? Nonetheless, it was subtly sweet and super light. The concha's looked great as well. read more

This bakery was pretty busy on the Sunday morning we went to visit it. We found this bakery on IG and were like kids in a candy store. They had a lot of Hispanic bakery goods I have never seen before. We got so many different varieties from baked goods, geletina, and tortillas. All of the goods we bought were fabulous. My favorite was the Rosca de Reyes bread!' The best I've ever had. It's got an extra flavor and it was so soft!! I was sad we only got the small one. I was lucky enough to get the baby Jesus twice. Had an extra day added to our trip to Phoenix so my husband and I made sure we got to La Purisima Bakery before we headed back home. This place is totally worth the hype! It was a Tuesday afternoon at around 2:00 p.m. but there was still a line outside. A good indicator for sure. They were so so many options inside and we had no idea what to go for. I looked up the must try foods at Mexican bakeries and made a short list. Pumpkin Empanada was lovely! I thought it would have a crispy outside but it was more soft. It went really well with the filling. Filling was not super sweet or anything. Just a really good bake. Chocolate Concha was so soft and fresh and light! Since it was so big I thought it would have some weight to it but it was actually really soft and light. Like cloud bread? It stayed fresh even the next morning. So nice to buy it into and we could have had more for sure. The Flan was addictive! Some of the best flan my husband and I have ever had. Soft and silky and perfectly sweet. I didn't have it with the whipped cream on the side because I preferred it plain. Husband liked it both ways. Had to get some of those Mexican Piggy Cookies aka Marranito because this is Christmas season right now. Sweetness was just right, and subtle gingerbread flavor came through as well. Had this 3 days later and it was still soft and really good. Definitely recommend. read more

We came here for the sweet bread but also had the $5 red burritos. Wow they were amazing delicious!! Clean meat, excellent red sauce and diced potatoes in a homemade flour tortilla!! This has been my favorite bakery since I was a kid. They have the best sweet breads/cookies/cakes & their food the sell like red chili burritos/tortillas/tamales are amazing! They really put their heart and soul into the foods they make & you can taste it. There is no place like this & the prices are great! This business is family owned & operated, so next time instead of stopping into your local grocery store for some Latin baked goods please stop in here. This place is soooo good! Tortillas? Amazing. They had a great flavor and a good "chew" to them. Burritos? The green chile is what dreams are made of. It's not super spicy, but it's packed with flavor. It's made with potatoes too. The potatoes are soft, not crunchy like fried potatoes or hash browns. But if I had a cute little abuelita, that's how I'd imagine her cooking would be. It feels like you're eating food made with love. They also have a red chile burrito. Yuuummm. Best information is to come early before all the best stuff is gone. They have pastries, too. I wanted to eat healthy today but the honey walked in the house, had a huge grin on his face, bag full of burritos and a box full of pastries. The pig cookies are my personal fave. Absolutely loved everything we tried and bought here. Get in line EARLY (like 6am) during the holidays for the best selections of tamales, pan dulces and conchas. We got red tamales with queso and shared with family for Christmas Eve. We tried allllll the empanadas (yum for limon and strawberry!) and could t resist a piggy cookie. Recommend loading up on one of everything and trying them over the next days with friends and family. Can't wait to return for more! read more

Like many mom and pops, there are times when quantities are limited. So ofc I had to buy some baked goods to go for my work team! Their muffins are HUGE - like 2 -3 servings per *singular* muffin. I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought 6... hello carb heaven for us. I noticed a lot of sweet and savory options - croissant sandwiches, cookies, you name it. Definitely the muffins were well-enjoyed by all (PSL, lemon-blueberry, red velvet), and the general consensus was lemon blueberry as the winner. This was my first stop, and I'm so glad it was. The café itself is absolutely charming--spacious, clean, and with plenty of seating. But what stood out immediately was the customer service. From the moment I walked in, everyone was smiling. You can tell this is a team that genuinely enjoys what they do. Despite the line, they were patient, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their coffee selection is wide but not overwhelming. . I went with the matcha latte with pistachio, which was well-balanced. When it came to food, I couldn't decide between my usual go-to (broccoli and cheese quiche) or the bacon, spinach, and cheddar--or even the tomato basil, which sounded amazing. I asked the barista/ server to choose for me, and she recommended the bacon, spinach, and cheddar. It did not disappoint. The crust was thick and perfectly done, and the filling was layered and flavorful--just incredible. I also ordered an ube muffin and was given a complimentary lemon tart (no complaints here!). The ube muffin was exactly what you'd hope for--lightly sweet with a delicate blend of vanilla, nutty notes, and a hint of coconut. The lemon tart was perfectly balanced--bright, slightly tart, and complemented beautifully by the whipped topping. Before leaving, I grabbed a loaf of sourdough to go. They even offered to slice it for me--small detail, big win. And I have to say, coming from San Francisco, I do not say this lightly: this is hands-down some of the best sourdough I've had outside of San Francisco. Honestly worth the 45-minute drive just for that alone. I come from a background in the restaurant industry, and great service doesn't go unnoticed. Everyone here was attentive, kind, and truly invested in the experience they provide. The customer service alone is worth the visit. They so offer Panini's and daily soups.. Their menu changes daily. They also offer Louisiana hot sauce so someone knows what they're doing. I can't wait to bring my kids here next time. We will absolutely be back.

It happened to be a little under twenty minutes away from us so we decided let's do it & they were open late. Hell yeah. There's not a crazy amount of pastries but the selection was great. We got two tiramisus, one vanilla custard lobster tail, some mini cannolis, & the wedding cookies. Everything came out to about $50 so beware, prices aren't exactly cheap. But for one, if you're going to do "bad" then do it right & we also shared with our family of 5 so plenty to go around. & Holy cow, everything was incredible. So indulgent, decadent & rich in flavor. My nephews liked the cannolis, personally they're not my favorite, but if you're into it the mini's are a great option to quench the craving. The lobster tail with the vanilla custard took me by surprise. I didn't think I was going to care for it, but the cold custard was refreshing & the flakiness of the bread was crazy, my taster buds were confused by the textures, but in the best way. They complemented each other well. My ultimate favorite was the tiramisu & the wedding cookies. I honestly wish I had gotten more of the wedding cookies, those things took me back. I grew up eating the Mexican ones & the Italians did it right *applause* But damn, the tiramisu was to die for. I would order that again & again. Perfectly chilled, the dusting of the cocoa powder didn't taste like nesquik--incredible. At first the price had me thinking if we were doing too much, like damn, should we have just gone to Sprouts bakery? But after being able to indulge in a great quality dessert, it was worth every dollar. My only feedback, careful when you're paying at the register. If you're not paying attention, the tip automatically defaults to 18% on the tablet. Only thing I didn't care for. I could see if I was eating at the restaurant, but I just popped in to take pastries to go. So, that was kind of annoying. The service was fine, the girl that helped me was nice, but again I just pointed at desserts I wanted & went home. The location is part of the main restaurant, but it has its own entrance & little room making it feel separate to the Sicilian Butcher. They also carry gelato which I haven't tried yet. My sister and I can't figure out why there's only one bag per day, but it's very coveted so we were excited to see what was actually inside! We walked in to the bakery with the intention of ordering more treats, in addition to what was in the too good to go surprise. When we walked in, it was 10:05, and they closed at 10:30. They had already put away half of their gelato and baked goods in the cabinet. I understand closing time is at 10:30, but if you still have almost half an hour left, I'm sure there are customers that are gonna come in and buy things. There were three parties of people that walked in while we were in there and then sitting out on the really nice patio. There is a little bit of seating inside, but the patio was very nice and there was plenty of seating out there too. The vibe is super cute, and I love the decor. Hopefully next time we go back, we can actually try things because they won't be put away!

Sweet D got a cherry and an apple turnover delivered into the box. It is five days later. My sugar intake has dropped a lot. In our home baking we cut sugar ingredients by half. Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. When I say the shortbread cup with custard was too sweet for me, that's my 21st century palate speaking. The almond cup was a buy-again item for me, still sweet, very almond. The cherry turnover was flaky, the filling tart, oozing fillng and cherries. The gold medal, blue ribbon "I'd buy this again, for sure is the apple turnover.
