My taco plate. Sorry I was hungry
    Grace A.

This review is only for the 5 taco lunch special to go. I didn't order anything off the the Puerto Rico menu. Maybe next time. I was going to order the Big Ed burrito , but I was told no cheese. " What ! No cheese ! I was told that their cheese distributor didn't show up. Ugh I would send someone out to get some cheese ! Oh well. The service was friendly. The five assorted taco's were delish ! Pico de gallo on top was fresh. I wish they gave a complimentary bag of tortilla chips ! Hint Hint The restaurant was bright and clean. $12.95 for five soft tacos with the choice of chicken, carnitas or carne asada.

4/28/26 Ordered some food to go via GrubHub. Food was ready for pick up on stated time. This was my first time having Puerto Rican food. I ordered the carne guisada, with Spanish rice and plantain, meat turnover, and Relleno de papas. The portions were great for the prices and everything was fresh. The food was delicious. I plan to come back and try some other dishes

Placed a DoorDash order for the carne guisada, chips, and guacamole. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. I wasn't a fan of the guacamole as it was really watered down and it was more of a salsa texture. The carne guisada was ok, the rice and plantains were my favorite poster of the dish. The beef didn't blow me away.

We were next-door buying a mattress when we decided to stop in for lunch after a great review from the mattress store employee. I like that they had a kids menu for my baby. The service was good and the employee helped us to pick our dishes and explain to us what their most popular choices were and what it contained. It felt like a nice home-cooked meal the vibes were relaxing, colorful walls give it a nice tropical feel!

This Puerto Rican spot has my heart. Loving food of my culture is so hard to find in Socal. Walking in feels like you're in Puerto Rico with the vibrant colors and the murals on the walls. Families having a good time at their tables enjoying the music and the food is so much fun. The service was very good. We felt welcomed and the staff were very friendly. This will make anyone's day. With that being said the food here is so good. My husband had the Carne Guisada with arroz con Gandules and Plato's Maduro. The flavor was there plus the meat was so tender it melted on his mouth. I had the Mofongo carne Gusida with Arroz con Gandules and tostones. I have to admit the mixing was so good not hard and crunchy. We both shared the Yuca con mojo and loved it too. This is a must place for authentic Puerto Rican food.

Celebrated my birthday today 6/24 at this awesome restaurant with family. Kenia provided outstanding customer service. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful dining experience because of Kenia We love dining here because of the delicious Puerto Rican and Mexican dishes. They remolded this place. It is so nice, clean & feels like you are in a restaurant in Puerto Rico

Yesterday I went to eat while my daughter was at a concert. Kenya helped me and she was super sweet. I would definitely go back again when I'm out this way. Food was amazing!

Updating my review because it's been ages. We have continued to return to señor big Ed's because their Puerto Rican food is absolutely delicious. The pork jibarito sandwich is my go to. The pork is well seasoned, and incredible. We have yet to sit down and eat here, it's always been to go, but the service has always been great when ordering whether over the phone or in person. If you're in the mood for PR food, this is the place to go.

The sampler plate. If you have never tried Puerto Rican food then this is where you want to start.

100% recommendation. If you want traditional Puerto Rican food and atmosphere come here. The food is authentic and reminds you of your grandmas house on the island. As a Boricua this is one of my top places and how I introduced my Norwegian husband to my family's food culture.

I love Puerto Rican food and this place was good. It definitely reminds me of when I went to visit Puerto Rico and the paintings are beautiful inside. The food was good and took me back to when I was in PR!! The customer service was great!

Never had Puerto Rican food, but this place did not disappoint. Honestly one of my favorite lunches I've had in a very long time. My Mexican brother in law keeps flaunting his own cuisine, but I'm sorry I have to give it to this place. The casual vibe this place has really sells it for me. I loved the fish and rice they gave the most, but everything else was amazing if you ever wanna stop by this place!

I tried a few places in San Diego, and they were decent, but nothing to write home about. When a friend recommended me to Wanda's Puerto Rican Cuisine, I thought it can't hurt... Maybe it will be decent since it's homebased... After trying the pernil, arroz gandules, empanadas and pasteles (especially the pasteles)... I had to declare this was the best puerto rican food... [dare I say]... EVEN BETTER THAN MY MOM'S‼ I almost [probably did] cried while eating it. The next time I brought it home, I refused to share it with my husband, but he's stronger than me, so he got some. I thought I would be smart the third time and ate it when he wasn't home, but it almost broke up my marriage when he came home and smelled the fragrant delicacies in the air, but no remnants of the actual food‼ If you don't mind ruining your marriage for this fantastic Puerto Rican food, then you should definitely order from her‼ She has an Instagram page, so you have to direct message her to order: https://share.google/KiXehQlzI2LRdcDFF Don't forget to order the cheese and guava pastry too... It's another fight waiting to happen in my marriage if I don't buy at least a half dozen to share with him‼

The empanadas I would not get again nor the pernil dish but the steak was delicious. I would definitely recommend that dish and would come back for it. The empanadas barely had any filling and for $12, it was basically just a bunch of fried dough. The reason for 3 stars is they really really need to improve in staffing. There was a hostess who was helping seat people, clean tables, and help with water refills. There was only one waiter, maybe a second person but I hardly saw her? The one waiter was noticeably overworked and stressed out trying to help everyone. There is also only one cook and it took a really long time for most tables to get their food. My steak dish came out but didn't have a steak knife, I wanted to ask for a knife but there was no staff around for a while that I could ask. Also my rice was pretty cold when I got it and my boyfriend's dish was also not hot. Probably was standing out waiting to be brought to us but due to staffing could not be brought to us right as it came out is my guess. I really do think this restaurant has potential but only if the owner addresses the staffing shortages.
