    Carne Frita con Mofongo
    Ruben S.

Wow!!! So much to say... first the food was so so good. My wife and I are in from Jersey for a funeral. My wife is Puerto Rican and we've had Puerto Rican food in PR, NY, and NJ. So, we saw the great rating and went for it. AMAZING!!! We tried the Beef n Cheese Empanada, the Yucca Fries, jugo de Parcha (fresh, not a syrup), Mofongo con Carne Frita, and Pernil con Arroz con Gandules and Yucca Encebollada.... - this restaurant's quality is so high we can see it among one of the best in San Juan. And, that mayo-ketchup, off the charts!! All I could say was... bendiiiiiiito!

What a pleasant surprise a Puerto Rican restaurant in Lancaster. Delicious food, friendly atmosphere, very clean and pleasant to dine in at. It was my first time dining there and I will definitely be returning.

Everything here is soooo good! But this Chuleta is a must-have! Pair it with yellow rice....Yummm!!! The staff are so friendly and attentive too.

    Plaza Borinquen 10/10 Lancaster, California

What a pleasant local restaurant for enjoying family gatherings and friendly encounters over a delicious cuisine! Plaza Borinquen is a traditional Caribbean restaurant, serving most of people's favorite dishes, like an assortment of empanadas and mofongos con un sazón tropical destacado y delicioso. Voy a seguir buscando motivos y pretextos para coordinar eventos especiales con seres queridos en este sitio muy cálido, tal calor es generado por los dueños del negocio y los fogones de la cocina. Es un diez de diez. I recommend that everyone eat at this local jewel in Lancaster's crown. This Puerto Rican restaurant is a 10 out of 10 and a phenomenal addition to the Mojave desert.

My friend and I decided to try Plaza Borinquen because every review I've seen has been amazing and I was too excited to wait any longer. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, while Latin music played in the background. I loved the vibe! Yes, this would be a lovely lunch stop but it would be a wonderful date night spot as well. Our waitress gave us time to peruse the menu. I knew my main meal order as it was suggested to me when I asked on their page. Here's what we decided on: Beef empanada Chicken with peppers and onion empanada Cuban Sandwich Plato typico Guava and cheese empanada I've never had empanadas before and they were incredible from start to finish. The sauce that came with them was I savored every bite! My friend got the Cuban and I was lucky enough to get a bite. The BEST Cuban sandwich I've ever had. I'll be back again for my own. My meal, Plato Typico, was seasoned to perfection!! I love trying new foods and experiencing different seasonings. The rice was earthy and complemented the pulled pork. And why didn't anyone tell me how good yuca was?! I could eat a whole plate We finished our meal with the guava and cheese empanada. My friend is lucky I shared with him. It was delightful The sweet soul herself, Jessica Pacheco, stopped by and took time to talk about the food and offered suggestions for the next time. I will definitely be bringing my mom first and then friends. This restaurant is a gem and we, as the AV, are so lucky she chose us. Thank you for sharing your amazing food with us and making us feel like family.

It's my favorite restaurant in the AV! The food is so comforting and delicious. The service is top tier. The owners make you feel right at home! The restaurant is cozy and clean. No complaints!!!

Best food ever! Got the pork and plantain bites as an appetizer. My twins absolutely loved the steak and fries. I got the carne Frita (fried pork!) and my husband got the churrasco (skirt steak). We killed all of our food and the kids stole our rice and beans which says a lot considering they don't really care for beans usually. For desert we guava and cheesecake empanadas Now please please please be patience because everything is made to order from scratch and to order! (That included the empanada dough.) Loved the seating the restaurant was lovely and quaint.

    Bistec Encebollado

I'm Puerto Rican so I was excited for this spot. Friendly service, and the decor of this place gives "Tia's house" vibes. Ordered the Bistec Encebollado which unfortunately did not give Tia's house vibes, beans were missing and not much protein for what they charge.

Canoe: super good Puerto Rican Piccadilly stuffed into a plantain!

Excellent food every time we come! I love the music and the atmosphere in the restaurant...so relaxing. All the food is cooked fresh and hot. My last trip here I got the Churrasco steak Mofongo...super yummy. The empanadas are Excellent too. Today I got the La Borinquena and my wife got the Canoe...wow, super good! We will keep coming back!

This is a gem of a restaurant serving authentic Puerto Rican food. I am originally from NY and have been to PR several times. I am very familiar with Puerto Rican cuisine and could vouch that this is the real deal. The service was on point, welcoming, friendly and attentive! It is family owned and operated which brings in a personal touch. I had the beef empanada which was served with their own homemade dipping sauce as well as the Plato Tipico (roast pork with yellow rice and pigeon peas with a side of yucca). It was all delicious. I highly recommend this great find.

The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

All of their empanadas are great and you can get just one or a bunch. We often get some to take home. The Papas Rellenas is so good and so nicely priced. It is two mashed potato balls stuffed with Cuban picadillo, then breaded and fried to perfection. I love potatoes so I love to get this. We also take these home. They heat up so well. The service is great and they are very friendly. Parking is easy and there is not usually a wait. I am not sure if they take reservations, so call them and check. Once the couple left, the angry customer (gen z/young adult) started berating him about the meal and lack of customer service. The manager stayed calm and collective offered her a full refund as well as a re-cooked meal that she ordered earlier. However, this wasn't enough for her, she wanted blood. The manager kept composure, realized he was in a lose-lose situation, and calmly told her she needed to leave, which she complied. The manager was being rage baited and he handled it like a pro!
