I spoke to Taylor Lee from Home Instead first & she was SO helpful & friendly, even suggesting some helpful questions I may want to ask from other providers. I decided not to bother looking any further & did not regret my decision! Taylor & all the care professionals who helped my mom were wonderful & I didn't have to worry at all! They took her on errands to the grocery store & kept her company; Patty even brought her some homemade meals to share, which she totally loved! I can't thank Taylor & all the caregivers enough; thank you all for putting my mind at ease & taking such great care of my mom!

In my opinion, the company, Home Instead Windward, is a quality service organization with a high level of competence and dedication to personal home care services in Windward Oahu. We have had a Home Instead Windward person, Ariana, come to our home weekly and provide certain services, such as food preparation, personal care for my wife (diagnosed with mild dementia), and light house work. Ariana is a social person, and is a calming influence with my wife, and she shows a clear capability for positive social interaction. Ariana has an easy-going personality and is cool and unruffled if there should be any "incident." She works well with other people, and, Ariana is also a Wonderful Cook!. We like Home Instead Windward. E. R. Miller, Kailua, Hi, April 18, 2025.

My regular hairdresser for 10 yrs had moved a few years back, and I have been lost ever since. Been…read moreto a few places in Kailua and in town, not very impressed with anyone. I saw a Groupon for Paris Green Salon for a Brazilian blowout, which I've been wanting to do for awhile. I checked out their Facebook page, and saw they had a 1st time customer special for $60 a haircut and color touch-up. I was so fed up with my hair, which my highlights were faded from being in the sun the last month, and unruly from the weather, I called them to make an appointment. I didn't even think that they could fit me in before the holidays, but she said I could come in that same day! Excited, I made the appt and hung up. I then realized I couldn't make it in till 5pm. Saddened that I may have to re-schedule, I called back, and she gladly said that my hairdresser Al was working late that evening. YIPPEE! You always get a little nervous when you go to a hair salon the first time, but they were very nice on the phone, and gave perfect directions. The salon is tucked away in Kailua, behind MacDonalds, where the old Gee, it's a Deli area was in a Coral building. It looked small from the outside, but very cute, clean and quaint inside. They use Paul Mitchell products which I like, but also Morrocon oils, which was a great product on my hair. I had been wanting to cut off 3-5 inches off for awhile, and was trying to grow my bangs out, but still liked them. My highlighlights had gone brassy. After I told Al my woes on my hair, he seemed to know exactly what to do! After seeing myself in the mirror, roots drenched in bleachy goo, I got nervous, but he assured me that I will love the rich color, and my highlights will still shine through. We put a Paul Mitchel Shine conditoner, which I like, he was right, the color was a winner!! Now the crying game, watching my locks being cut.. but before i knew it, I was already transformed to a Movie Star!!! He kept my bangs but "swooped" them to the side, and I still had length with my layers. I usually have them Flat iron my hair, which always make you look hot, but I can NEVER do right at home. Al showed me how to blow-dry it with a round brush that gave it more style, still looked straight, and easy to do! I got many compliments the next day at work, people were calling me "The Glamour Girl", and loved the color and new style. Frizzy hair gone, hello new look! I am a believer, and I believe I have found my new hairdresser!! Thanks Al, and as Arnold says... "I'll be back!" TIP of the Day- Get a shine, inexpensive and great on your hair!

Therefore, I read a lot of reviews before choosing Al at Paris Green Salon. I'm so grateful I happened upon his reviews and felt the need to post my own for the next new girl in town looking for a new stylist and salon. Al gave me a consultation before we began and listened to what I wanted before he provided recommendations to fit my face, hair type, and the low maintenance I was looking for. He gave me beautiful, bright, natural looking beach blonde highlights and a cut with long layers and face framing layers that honestly made me feel like a runway model! My hair has not felt or looked this good in so long. Al brought my sexy back and I definitely recommend him! Ps. For those of you that just want some quiet or reading time during your salon experience, Al made nice friendly conversation but also allowed me to relax and was not too loquacious. That's something I dread when finding a new hair salon! He had a very nice personality.

After a bout of hospital-acquired pneumonia turned our loved-one's nursing home stay from rehab to…read morelong-term care, our lives were turned inside out. While the CNAs and RNs at the nursing home provided all the basic care and kindness they could, the staffing just wasn't robust enough and we watched him go from walking to bedridden to rapid weight loss and failing, all within 2-1/2 months. We spent exhaustive amounts of time looking for alternative care that could give him a second chance, but despite a lot of glittering promises upfront from care placement agencies, every option came up empty. Finally we found Kina'Ole Estate. On our initial Google search, we breezed over Kina'Ole because we wrongly presumed from its architecture, design, and layout that only assisted living services would be offered. All the long-term care facilities we encountered looked like either a nursing home or a residential care home. Nestled in a gated, tropical setting in Kane'ohe, Kina'Ole is what long-term care should be, but seldom is. Each of the houses on the estate has no more than 8 residents, each with their own sizeable private room with en suite accessible bathroom and roll-in shower. The rooms are arranged around the periphery of each building so each resident has a bank of windows to provide sunlight and fresh breezes, as well as an individual split air conditioning unit for summer days if it gets a bit warm or humid. In the center of each house is a very large common room separated into various sitting areas where residents receive their meals (each house has a kitchen where the home-cooked meals are prepared) and are able to socialize and participate in the daily activities offered. Outside is a generous covered lanai with plenty of seating to enjoy a chat with other residents or visiting friends and relatives, or just relax to read a book. Each house has a full-time house manager and round-the-clock CNAs who are nothing short of amazing. The owner, Beth Slavens, has assembled the most wonderful group of caring individuals and each of them seems to take personal pride in providing exceptional care to the residents. The day our loved one moved in was the first day in months that we were able to finally breathe and know that he was getting the best care possible on O'ahu. Already our loved-one is perking up. He's gone from being stuck in a nursing home bed 24/7 to being safely assisted into a wheelchair and brought into the common room for every meal. They also take him outside so he can feel the sun and tradewinds. On his second day there, his caregiver wheeled him around for a complete tour of all the houses and he was alert and full of questions. We are now hopeful that he can progress back to good health and mobility again. Thank you to Beth and all our new ohana at Kina'Ole. We will forever be grateful.

There are so many options out there & finding a facility that is the right fit for your loved one is so important. Our family had to make that heart wrenching decision to place my dad in an assisted living facility & after looking at many options & visiting many facilities we first placed him in a large facility that was very nice, staff was nice & looked like it had all the bells & whistles...after about 4 weeks & many reasons later we knew that it was not a good fit for him & we needed to move him...he needed a smaller more home like atmosphere with more individual attention. A friend suggested Kina'Ole in Kaneohe & we arranged for a tour with the owner Beth. From the very moment we entered the beautiful gated property we knew this was the place for dad...it was exactly what we were looking for! The grounds are so beautiful & well taken care of...3 separate homes on the property with beautiful trees & flowers everywhere...nice paved walkways & even a few chickens running around with their baby chicks...my dad loved it!! We decided to place him there & it is the best decision ever!!! Dad's house has 8 rooms...each resident has their own large bedroom & private bathroom which we could decorate however we wanted too...so it could feel like home for him...theres a large living room/common area where the residents have their daily activities & delicious home cooked meals & where they can just relax together on their own recliners & watch a movie together & have a snack. There's lots of staff to help out & to care for dad & all the residents...the entire staff at Kina'Ole are amazing!!! They have made the transition so easy for dad & our family & to watch dad immediately feel welcomed, comfortable & relaxed there has been the best feeling in the world!! Dad loves to be outdoors & take walks & the staff will take him outside twice a day for a nice long walk or whenever he'd like one...they truly care for the residents as though they were their own family members! Dad told me that he "feels spoiled" there cause they all so attentive & take such good care of him! I almost cried hearing him say those words because I knew we had found the perfect place for him!!! He is thriving & happy & so are we!!! We now don't have the constant worry we had before...we know that everyone at Kina'Ole makes it their priority to care for dad's physical & emotional well-being...we finally have peace of mind The icing on the cake was last week I got a text message for Wehilani (head nurse in his house) & she sent me pics of dad out & about with his housemates enjoying the gorgeous grounds & having fun with his new friends. She shared with me how his week went...how well he's adjusting, how his appetite has been, how he's been sleeping (great) & just a report of his week Kina'Ole is a hidden gem & our family feels so blessed to now be part of their ohana!

They were very attentive and caring, yet professional. The home itself was warm and welcoming with a beautiful backyard set-up for visitors to enjoy. Even though there was a constant flow of family and friends who came to say their final good-byes to my sister, at no time did the staff make us feel like we were intrusive or disruptive. Their care of my sister during her last days and especially after she passed, were phenomenal. They gave us the space and time to grieve, all the while assuring us that they were there if we needed them. The backyard of the hospice house has a small garden area, a patio, and a swimming pool. The home has four nurses rotating 24/7, a housekeeper, and a cook. All staff members work for Hospice Hawaii. The bedrooms are divided into two residential rooms and three respite rooms. The residential rooms are for patients who needs long term care by the nurses. The respite rooms are for patients who are staying for five nights for free (got to give the caregivers a break). After the fifth night it is $100 a day. Each bedroom consist of a hospital bed, a recliner, small dresser, and television. Emergency oxygen tanks are available in each room in case the electric goes out. There are few portable oxygen machines for the patient to use in the family room or the bedroom. Two of the bathrooms are reserved for the patients while the third bathroom is for staff members and visitors. The patient bathroom is equipped with handicap railings near the toilet and the shower. There are commode toilets available for patients who are unable to use the bathroom. The living room is more like a little lobby area with a beverage station for guests, sign in log for visitors and volunteers, as well as a round two seater table. The family room has a couch, a recliner, small table, and a entertainment shelf with books, DVDs, and a television. My pops stayed at the Hospice Hawaii Kailua house for five nights. Hospice Hawaii made transportation available through ABC Transportation with a pickup in Waianae and drop off in Kailua. He arrived there on Tuesday August 29, 2017. After his five nights stay in Kailua then he got transported back to Waianae from Alii Transportation. The nurses that I have met personally like Rolyn and Yvonne are very friendly and outgoing. They joked around with my pops while he was in Kailua. My pops has his own opinions about the other nurses whom I did not meet. Guests are able to visit their loved ones as long as the noise is down. The nursing home is a peaceful environment so the other patients are able to relax and sleep when needed. There was a big difference in weather for my pops to experience. Waianae tends to be hot. Kailua was raining on Tuesday (8/29/2017) while all other days was cooler and comfortable weather. Family members are able to call their loved ones who are staying at the hospice house. Phone calls need to be limited and the nurses normally answers the phone. A loved one may refuse the call especially if he/she is too tired to talk. 52/100
