The direct care I had with working with Alice Home Care was over the top. We were in the pandemic. My uncle had fallen and had Covid and needed home care. Alice met me at the house and we proceeded to get information from my cousin about what was needed for his father. Then my cousin fell ill during the talk. Alice saw the severity of the situation and brought in help within a couple of hours. This was amazing. And so badly needed. Eventually a longer term solution was found by Alice and the care was used for several months until my uncle moved to assisted living. Alice Home Care came to the rescue, brought in care that the family appreciated, and was very open in communications.

I couldn't pick up my Mom when she suddenly couldn't walk anymore. She was on Kaiser Hospice with terminal bone cancer (wow, also incredible people!) and they recommended Roxana. Victor was wonderful on the phone. Sensing I couldn't make another night, he managed to have a nurse at the house by 9:00 p.m. "Angel" Nurse Blanca and Roxana walked in that night and jumped into action, literally. Firing off instructions between the two, they immediately cleaned my Mom and got her comfortably into bed, fixed the room, etc. On a later day, I went to the store when they were putting in a catheter because they knew I didn't need to hear it. They know so much about taking care of the caregiver! When I got back, the entire living room was organized, clean, medicine logs, every single medicine organized. I couldn't believe how wonderful they were. Blanca literally never left my Mom's side. She called her "Princess" and stood for hours fanning Mom with a calendar b/c she was hot. She had to sleep over b/c she lived far away; she's a wonderful person. We didn't speak the same language (my fault) but it didn't matter at all. Universal sign language worked just fine. There's apps that translate the spoken word. They also worked with Kaiser Hospice which helped immensely. They were knowledgeable about Mom's meds and condition. Roxana was also amazing; dropping by. Explaining everything to me. Taking time to talk to me often. Just overseeing everything. This 'short' review isn't so short. I have a million other things I could describe about Nurse Blanca's amazing help but I'll stop. Unfortunately, it was only for five days. Mom passed and Blanca made sure we had our time alone with no one in the room. Just what is needed but you don't know these things at the time. Their experience is worth every penny. By pure chance I found this wonderful care home. The process of finding a care home for my elderly…read moremother was filled with confusion, fear and frustration, along with the reality of the cost. I knew I wanted a small facility so that my mom would get individualized care. The owner, Jackie, was immensely helpful with the process. When I needed proof that my mother did not have TB, Jackie suggested going to urgent care to have a chest x-ray, even sending someone to go with me to help handle my mother so that I could have her admitted that day. In fact, Jackie sends someone to go with me to every doctors appointment since I cannot carry my mom in and out of the car to get her in the wheelchair. The first day they asked for a list of her food likes and dislikes, and tailor her meals to what she feels like eating. They take care of laundry, food, etc. without the nickel & dime extra costs that most other facilities charge. They have large TVs for every room with many streaming options (Disney, Netflix, sports channels, etc.) and were MUCH cheaper than the other facilities I looked into. On holidays and special occasions, Jackie orders a boatload of food for visitors to enjoy while they spend time with loved ones, and has even out of her own pocket bought things for the residents. My mother has received outfits, socks, blankets, Christmas gifts, etc. just because Jackie loves spoiling the residents! She has a very good heart and honestly cares for everyone treating them like family. The staff are attentive and very caring, also treating everyone like family. My mother loves the hugs she gets and feels very loved. That is the best thing about this home - my mother does NOT want to leave this place!
