We didn't want him to spend his remaining days in an unfamiliar hospital room, so we called Total Care Services to see if they could help. On the same day of our call, a very friendly and understanding representative came out and answered all our questions and put us at ease. She was able to help facilitate an in-home care professional to work alongside hospice in keeping my grandfather comfortable while also caring for my grandmother - the very next day!! My grandfather passed quickly and peacefully after his return home from the hospital - with family members by his side. We were able to share stories, joke, laugh, cry, and say our goodbyes at his in-home bedside. We were able to do this while not having to worry about the intricacies of medication and care of my grandparents - the ability to do this was priceless. Fast forward 6 months, the total care team continues to provide in-home care for my grandmother. Doing day to day activities, including but not limited to, making sure she takes all of her medication when she is supposed to. The care team goes above beyond in day-to-day conversations with my grandmother, playing games, drawing out positive memories/stories, etc. Most importantly they are very communicative with our family. We take for granted the little things we do each day - getting food or drink from the fridge, using the rest room, reaching the remote, opening the door for fresh air. Having just moved here, I had no one to stop in or spend time with him. While I could provide all the clinical care with the help of home care, there were many hours left in the day where he could not be left alone. I tried three home care agencies before I found Total Care. TC was able to provide a consistent person that was more than competent to provide the care. Yulma was a great communicator and fun to be around. She was also sensitive enough to know when to back off and let my husband try something for himself and to step in while keeping my husband's dignity intact. They got along great. Yulma liked to be useful and busy so she was constantly doing things that were not asked of her but a huge help to my husband and I. Laundry, cooking, pet care, shopping. We got a dog for emotional support. The dog was more work than we anticipated and Yulma stayed on to help us with the transition. Fay was always responsive and respectful. I am surprised to see any reviews that are low as I would give six stars if I could. Their intake process was highly professional and their business shows a high degree of organization at all levels. Honor Care is providing part time care (4hrs/day, 7 days/week) for my elderly relative. The person…read morethat comes Mon-Sat is great. Always a bit late, but provides great care. My only gripe is when the regular caregiver is unable to come. Honor Care doesn't seem to have a backup system in place. So, most of the time no replacement comes or they able to come only at different hours. I could be wrong, but it feels like they treat caregivers like Uber drivers. Instead of proactively having a backup list or making phone calls, it feels like they just open up a slot and hope somebody responds. I could be wrong, but that is the way it feels.
