We contacted Seneca Contracting in early March 2021 for a bathroom redo. We wanted to use local area companies. Ivan Anderson was that very special person that my husband and I can't say enough good things about him and his crews. Ivan helped us from the planning, estimate and even stuck with us while the financing was hung up. The crews were on the job every day, neat, polite and cleaned up every afternoon. After completing my remodel of the main bathroom, Seneca remodeled my hall bathroom as well and it looks beautiful. They were here on time every day, wore masks and were very respectful of our home. They kept me updated on what they would be doing every day and made sure that they cleaned up before leaving. I have two cats and they were great about keeping the doors closed to avoid any escapees. Main reason I'm giving Seneca Contracting 2 stars: when they rennovated our hall bath, the workers poured plaster-filled wastewater all over our front and back established gardens--and the lawn, too. When I watched in the back yard, they poured in front, then vice versas. I provided a lined trashcan for waste water, but it was only 1/2 full at work's end. I've excavated at least 9 cubic feet of cultivated garden soil that turned plaster-hard. Several of our garden plants died, and I didn't find one earthworm where they poured wastwater. The work inside I'd give 4 stars. I told the crew to replaster parts of the bathroom walls to make it come out straight, not wavey. The workers claimed the studs were not aligned. However, when another contractor did the master bath the year before, they got the walls straight first time on the other side of the same studs. Anthough I asked for the painted walls to be paper-smooth--and showed the other bathroom's smooth walls as an example--they wern't. On the other hand, Seneca proved flexible when we ran short of wall tiles and had to wait for more tiles to be custom-glazed, and they came up with a workaround when the marble side-splash proved too high for the electrical panel. read more

I cannot recommended Seneca / Ivan and crew enough. Ivan can attest to the fact that I am detail focused and particular about everything. I waited a long time to build the kitchen I always imagined. Two walls were removed and the kitchen and living areas were remodeled by Seneca. Ivan was consistently responsive, fair and on time, including the crew. They cleaned up every night before leaving and hauled away all debris daily. I love that they all have a sense of pride in the work they do. It shows in every detail. Ivan runs a tight ship and gets things done in a timely manner with integrity / quality in mind. I also have to give a shout out to Javier - always making things happen! There are always hiccups that happen in a remodel. We had a few, but Ivan and Javier navigated every issue with integrity and speed. We love the results!!!! It's beautiful and now functional. It has been a great place to entertain and enjoy our guests. I recommended Seneca to a friend who did a high end kitchen remodel. They were on the job today in signal hill for a condo neighbor. Asked 2 workers to place masks on in a shared condo area and they did not put a mask on when asked. They said I had an attitude in my voice and ignored me. Sad! read more

We had a great experience with Ivan and his team. All the workers were extremely considerate, especially since I have two young children in the house as they were finishing up the interior (we had moved out for two months during the major construction). For example, they taped off the areas of the house where dust or paint may have settled, protected counter tops, furniture, etc. Also, they didn't do any noisy work (such as drilling or sanding) until my girls woke up in the morning. Very sweet! We hired Seneca to build an addition onto our living room. Every inspection passed on time without any hiccups. If there was a need to communicate with our architect/designer, or the city, Ivan handled it without issue. He really went above and beyond in wanting us to be happy and pleased with the work. Ivan is really good at returning phone calls and emails, and VERY professional in handling the payment/financial agreement part of the job, such as change orders and billing. Also, the subcontractors he uses are of good quality, efficient with time, helpful and professional as well. His window guy gave me great input to make my new living room windows taller to set them apart from the front bedroom windows. I wouldn't have thought of that, and now I love my new windows! Ivan is a great communicator who handles things so you don't have to worry. If you have a vision, he works hard to make it happen for you; at the same time, he gives advice stemming from all of his experience. For the final walk through he asked me to make a list of all the little things such as paint touch ups, etc, and made sure his guys delivered! We found them through the next-door app, our neighbors recommended them. We met Ivan, and he was great, a good communicator, a straight shooter, and he clearly knew his trade, it gave us confidence as the potential clients. Before making a bid, he walked the property with me after sending him the plans so he came knowledgable about our job, which we could tell by the question he asked. His bid came ahead of schedule and it was fair compared to the market. Ivan and his brother Eric met us again to present their bid, Eric would be the project manager and really knew our plans inside and out by this point. Ultimately we saw in Eric a person that has a natural attention to detail and likes things to look nice when he's had a hand in it. I appreciated how he handled his crews, kept the place clean, was polite with the neighbors, took care of everything for us, above and beyond in some cases. He was our guy when we were at work to help us keep the job moving along. This was great, it allowed us to focus on our family and our work knowing he was always there making sure things were done right. On top of all this they quoted the job to take up to 6 months and it was done in 4, there were few days besides weekends that there wasn't something being done, back to back crews coming and going. They built us a master bedroom suite, expanded and redid the kitchen, a new roof, all new floors, insulation in the whole house, a covered patio. This has to be one of the absolute worst contractors I've had to deal with in the 15 years since our townhome community was built. They were hired to do a simple job in patching up a hole in exterior stucco. But when asked to move their vehicle to the street as it was parked not only in a fire lane/alleyway, but their vehicle also was blocking the ability to enter or exit to entry four separate homeowners garage doors. You would think this was simple enough of a request. But then to get the attitude and arrogance of the Project Lead acting out in a exaggerated behavior, topping it off by having the nerve to tell me to get out of there. As president of my association it IS MY JOB to ensure things are done right and with as little impact and inconvenience as possible on our homeowners! Needless to say this company will not be back working in our association or any other projects that I may head up in the future. I called Isaac who supposedly owns the company and his professionalism or complete lack there of, made me immediately understand why this Lead felt he could act that way to a customer. After in-laws used him for a room addition that came out great, we decided to use Ivan too for our own room addition and it came out awesome. I definitely recommend him as a general contractor. One thing I really liked is that he is very good about returning calls, answering emails promptly, keeping appointments. We've had other contractors skip appointments and then forget they even set one up. This was a one-time, large investment in our house and I was spooked by so many friends' stories about huge problems they encountered with this kind of work, but our project went really well. Ivan and his painters did an amazing job. They were very efficient, neat, courteous and extremely punctual. Ivan and his crew were easy to work with and his communication skills were fantastic. He was extremely prompt in returning calls. Either Ivan or his foreman would come over every few days to check on the job and make sure they were running on schedule. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We had Ivan come in for a remodel. His workers do all of the work and he comes in occasionally to check on them...all the while checking his messages, anxious to get to his more important (i.e., more lucrative jobs). They had to redo the floor 3 times (it never was level), they textured the walls even though they knew we were putting up wallpaper so they had to take off the texturing, they moved fixtures without our approval, etc. The MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT HAPPENED was his men put the shower tile directly on the drywall! No waterproof board...put directly over the electrical...a major shock hazard and the walls would have rotted away in no time. Then...he disappeared and we had to have real professionals come in to redo all of his shoddy work. A 6 week project became a 12 week nightmare. You have been warned. read more

He answers every e-mail in a timely manner (which is very rare) and the quality of the work done was perfection.
