While I have been to Mexico several times since my last visit, I have also dined at numerous other locations, albeit not here. This time, I visited Senda Norte in Tijuana, again for a late night snack, before hitting the sack. My order was simple, a Tartar de Atun (Tuna Tartar). I had high expectations, since my impressive last visit to this restaurant. almost a year ago.
Let me say this at the onset. The dining space is accompanied by good seating and a superb and attentive staff. My tuna dish on arrival was captivating because it had fantastic optics. Yes, almost picture perfect. The tuna itself, so deeply red, almost blood red (a sign of freshness and a high class product). Not easy to experience, even in LA, unless you are at a high end restaurant. That said, my taste buds were calling. Unfortunately, the chef screwed it up. The tuna was over salted, seemed with soy sauce and more. It was difficult to eat, but I did try numerous times, and could not finish. The eatery recipe also called for avocado and perfect cubes of mango and cucumber. The fruit components were divine. Sad, that they had to spoil this dining experience with what they did to this attractive serving of well appointed pieces of tuna. read more
