I am surprised by the low reviews on this place. It's wonderful! A taste of the west, great food, fabulous atmosphere, wonderful live music, and exceptional staff. Bri was our waitress and we had so much fun speaking with her! Just finished our lunch at Senator's Steakhouse as we wait for the train to see the bison here at Terry's Ranch. Overall, very good lunch experience. Would give 4.5 stars. Fast and friendly service, good quality food and large portions. Has a pretty authentic old western feel to the place. I had the 1/2 lb hamburger which was served as requested (medium). Juicy and tasty. My wife had the fish and chips (sweet potato fries) which she really enjoyed and my daughter had the grilled cheese which was good as well. Overall would recommend, especially as part of the overall Ranch experience. read more

First time at Senators and we waited for our food for 25 min before the waitress came and told us that there was no buffalo burgers then we waited another 25 min and no food. A couple came in 10 min after us and was served. We told them we would pay for our drinks and we were leaving. The manager came out and I told her that the kitchen needed some management changes. She offered to let us take some food home to make it right , I declined. I was in the business before. I didn't want to take a chance that someone would do something to the food. we didn't have to pay for drinks. there is a reason why they have 2.5 stars. it will be a long while before we give them another chance. I'll start with the positive- our server was very nice, attentive and did her best. We were shocked that a 10 oz rib eye was $30! So, I decided to get a hamburger until we learned that it can't be cooked to anything less than medium well! No medium, obviously no medium rare which we prefer. The steak came out and was not as thick as my cell phone! Medium rare was a joke! How can they charge $30 for a thin, gristley, medium well steak? My husband complained and they and the second one was worse! Apparently they have a small salad bar but there was no mention of it on the menu. When we mentioned that my husband's salad never came he was prompted to use the salad bar, which we didn't know existed. This place is a total rip-off! It's a tough call between two and three stars. I'm going to go with two stars because this place is incredibly overpriced for what you get, so it falls under 'I've experienced better'. While I like the decor, and the service was VERY friendly and nice, the food is way overpriced and not that great. I also found the restaurant to be very drafty. Maybe much nicer in the summer, but when it is 20 degrees out, not very cozy (even though it has a 'lodge' feel). I got the bison short ribs, which I did like but (and this is on me) not completely tender. Granted, it was around 2 PM and I think they are cooked longer for the dinner crowd. I write this with a sad heart, because the host and server were great. The establishment, food and kitchen were not up to par. There was no soap to wash hands in the bathroom (very dirty) and flies everywhere. I asked them to replace the soap. They didn't, in the time we were there. I would've liked to have washed my hands after helping my child in the bathroom. The bison ribs were room temperature, tough and dry. The gravy for the potatoes was tasteless flour. The salad was 30% rotten lettuce. The appetizer was clearly a pre made freezer item and not restaurant quality. All the food came out either room temperature or slightly warmed. Coming from a long distance road trip I thought this would be a cool place to stop and eat. Reviews seemed like it was okay to try. Once there was another story. It seemed dead, not a whole lot of people inside. I tried their bison ribeye. A lot of gristle and not a lot of flavor. My suggestion would be to not expect much in quality. read more

If I could give this place -10 I would. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I took my father here for Father's Day had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. I can understand that if there were people in tables but no. I was sat at 5 got my food at 7. The food was not worth the price I could have better food at McDonald's. Made me and my family sick immediately after eating. The waitress was rude and CONSTANTLY ignored us. Zero Stars Probably one of the worst experiences I've had at any restaurant. Waited too long to be seated. Waited even longer for a server to even approach our table. We had to ask for water half an hour after being seated. When they finally came to take our order, they were out of the entrees we wanted for dinner. No apologies for the wait or lack of selections. The live music was enjoyable, the the overall experience with the restaurant was sorely lacking. The bison ranch was fun and worth a visit. The train ride and seeing the animals and feeding the bison was exciting. Kudos to the train conductor, he had a great sense of humor. Go to the ranch, but skip the steakhouse. read more

I have ate at Senators Steakhouse 3 times over my 1 month stay at Terry Bison RV park. It was awful all three times! The first time we ate there, I wasn't hungry, but my friends ate. and afterwards two out three were violently ill! The second time I ate there, I ordered the chicken alfredo.. nothing special there.. The third and final time I ate there, I tried to order a salad, and they sent out literally half a head of lettuce with Caesar dressing drizzled over the top of it! We dropped by here during our cross country trip. It was not planned. But we loved the experience here, farm train ride to feed the bisons, then enjoyed the local bison short ribs for free (complimentary of train ride ticket), grilled fresh trouts tasted delicious. We where two teens from Colorado who came to Wyoming for fireworks. The start was fine not super friendly service but not mean. But we ordered and it's taken 45 minutes and we have seen people who have gotten here after us get there food. read more

We showed up for lunch and we were told they only had a buffet. For 3 adults and 3 children it cost us over $200!!! It wouldn't have been such a big deal on the price but the food was minimal for starters. Second, it was awful. Heat lamps, warming trays and fly ridden salad bar. Nothing at a proper temp. Soft drinks were an additional charge!!! Paying that much per person should include a drink! To top it off we're pretty sure my husband got FOOD POISONING or something from their prime rib. Very disapointed. Ordered 3 buffalo burgers medium rare. We received them well done. 2 we're sent back and they came back well done. Buffalo is a very lean meat so order accordingly. The only thing that was good about this experience was the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was cute and the staff was friendly. However, they were not busy at all, we waited forever just to see someone to get our drink order, and the food was TERRIBLE. It was buffet style and nothing was kept at the proper temperatures. VERY disappointed in the meal and whole experience. The Senator's Restaurant flyer offered an array of food for their Thanksgiving meal - not buffet like usual.....I get that, but our orders were wrong from the start and the portions wouldn't have fed a toddler. We called for reservations about a month ago, just to make sure we would have a nice Thanksgiving dinner. I understand things change alot with the COVID rules, but if they change-at least let your patrons know the menu you offered and advertised for the last few months for Thanksgiving was not going to be the menu you were going to offer on Thanksgiving day!!! Put up a sign at check in, "Menu we advertised is not menu you are eating from today. Here is the new version of food we are offering today " My turkey was great - although they started to give me a prime rib (should've taken that and run). My pre-order was mixed veggies, sweet potatoes and scalloped potatoes. What I got was maybe a TBSP of sweet potatoes, 1/4 cup mashed potatoes with no gravy and about 1/4 cup if that of mixed veggies. Terry ordered green bean casserole, mashed potatoes/gravy and stuffing. He got half scoop of mashed potatoes/no gravy, and maybe a half scoop of stuffing. He had to ask for his green bean casserole - that came as a nice size serving. Small salad, missing deviled eggs, 1 roll each that had been smashed after being baked/or before being served. The flyer said a great variety of desserts - cakes, pies, cheesecake bars, exclairs, cookies, chocolate strawberries, whipped cream and toppings...... We were offered pumpkin, peach, apple pie or chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was a tiny piece of a small bundt cake you would get at KFC. Asked for 2 peach pie pieces. Hmmmmm.... wonder what happened to those eclairs I was looking forward to having?? Our waitress tried so hard to make things right for us and we appreciate her efforts. It's difficult to recommend to friends and family though for future visits. We loved Thanksgiving here 2 years ago and coming this year had expectations on food, servings, and service. Those expectations were squashed today..... Update - our 2 pieces of peach pie turned into Apple pie once they left the restaurant. What a clusterfuck. read more

We went on a Tuesday night. Very slow in the restaurant. Maybe two other tables with customers. Took a long time to get a (alcohol) drink. They were out of Jack Daniels (really?). We ordered T-bone and a small ribeye, and an appetizer. The appetizer was spinach dip and was good. But the entrees - ugh. T-bone was horrible. Tough with gristle. As my husband said...you could still see the whip marks from the jockey. The ribeye was over seasoned. Very thin and stringy. The baked potato was really old and over cooked. But fries were ok. We were thinking as a steakhouse it would have a different ambience. But if you are ok with a brightly lit truck stop atmosphere you'll like it. Also to add to the atmosphere was the two way radios going off on staff members. So it seemed like there was a police scanner or CB radio all through the meal. Cheap paper napkins. Side note - the ketchup bottle at the table was empty. We asked the waitress for another bottle and she brought a brand new bottle that was still sealed. The 1 star is only deserved because it was a cute decor with live music, which was fun. However the experience with the actual restaurant was terrible. We walked in about the same time as two other families and were seated after a short wait. The hostess and boss seemed really frazzled when we walked in and they were struggling to match the tables to groups. We were listening to the live music and realized it had been awhile and no one had come to ask about drinks or anything. I knew they were busy but I noticed that the other two families that walked in with us had already received their drinks. Other parties had walked in way after and also received drinks too. I waited 30 full minutes before I went to go find a worker. She apologized and said that she could only get us water but no other drinks or meal order. She eventually flagged down whoever was supposed to be our waitress. The waitress came over with no apology and no introduction and simply asked "Are you ready to order?" I was annoyed at this point but went ahead to order and she said they were out of what I wanted. Tried to order something else...they were out of that too. I got up and left. Waited 30 minutes to have to beg for waters and not even get any food. Never heard an apology from the front lady who seemed to be in charge or our supposed waitress. We did end up eating dinner at Wyoming Rib and Chop House about 15 mins away and were served immediately and with great food...save yourself the hassle and go there instead. read more

Well, after viewing the reviews I was hesitant to eat here but we had been on the road for hours and were checking into Terry Ranch and we were too tired to go anywhere else. We grabbed seats at the bar and got immediate service. My husband and I only ordered the jalapeño poppers and a burger. Both were freshly made and delicious!!! The food came out in a timely manner and the drinks were delicious as well- a local bear and a cocktail. I'm glad we took a chance. Horrible! Waiting on drinks to arrive that were taken by a host because we were informed that our waiter was busy ringing a order in. Then our waiter took our order never heard from him again. After 45 minutes of sitting and waiting on DRINKS we decided to leave. Due to a wedding we were forced to sit outside while a storm was coming in and wind was high we had to wait 20 minutes just for them to roll down the covers because "no one can touch them other than the managers". I understand being out of items snd not having sufficient staff due to the employee shortage. However the rudeness displayed by Ben was unacceptable.
