We love Selma's! From the variety of ice cream flavors, to the old fashioned candy, to the fresh baked cookies, everything is delicious! A must stop when you're in the area!

One of the iconic ice cream shops on the St. Croix. It's changed a little from years past, they don't really have any indoor seating, only serve ice cream, but there is also a walk-up window now and LOTS of flavors. It was a nice day out the last time we drove by, so enjoyed a spot under a tree and a couple dishes of ice cream. I tried the black licorice, and thought it was fantastic. There were so many flavors to choose from though, you couldn't possibly go wrong. Enjoy a nice drive down to the river and a dish of something sweet!

Very nice ice cream spot in downtown Afton. They have a variety of ice creams including some vegan options. It is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. I had a scoop of the cookie dough and birthday cake ice cream and would recommend both. There is plenty of parking available on the street.

Lovely little place. Nice outside area with a little landscaped pond and big rocks to sit on, which the kids enjoy. Large selection of ice cream, not made in house, but that is ok, it is high quality stuff made in Wisconsin from The Chocolate Shoppe. Also have a nice selection of candy for purchase. Good prices and super friendly people. My kids absolutely love This place after swimming at Lake St Croix Beach. A true gem

    Haven't seen these in years

Once again I was convinced to try a place based off of WCCO reporting that Selma's was their viewers choice for best ice cream in Minnesota. I have to admit that I am usually a traditionalist or old fashioned when it comes to a lot of aspects. What I mean by that is places that cook from scratch or make their own product. Selma's services ice cream from the Chocolate Shoppe in Madison which if you have even been there or had their ice cream, you know it is pretty darn good! We stopped at Selma's on a Saturday evening for dessert after enjoying a nice dinner out in Bayport. Selma's is easy to find in Afton. Just look for all the happy people with ice cream. When we arrived there was already a little line out the door and it was packed on the inside. Almost always a good sign. We didn't mind a little wait that actually moved pretty quickly as it allowed us to look at their current flavors as well as to see what others were ordering. We decided on a 3 scoop bowl as it was actually a better deal than getting 2 single scoops. I mean c'mon, more ice cream and less money. Sold! We ordered the Zanzibar which is one of the best chocolate ice creams I have ever had. The Yippee Skippee which had brownies, pretzels and salted caramel. Yes my mouth is watering thinking about these ice creams again. The 3rd flavor was your standard vanilla. Again sometimes I like the natural flavor of good ice cream but sometimes I like all the goodies in ice cream. "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't". After we each had our first bite, the games were on. Who could finish their bite and go back for another scoop. For the record my wife cheats as she would take a bite (she was holding our cup of ice cream) and then she would turn her back to "shield" the ice cream. That stopped after my spoon "accidently" brushed her cheek while I was attempting to get myself another scoop. :) Needless to say we certainly enjoyed the ice cream. Afton is a small town, head south just a few minutes and you will probably see deer and other animals. Since Afton is close to us, we certainly will be returning soon to have more ice cream from Selma's.

There were a few other people there. The service was super nice and personable. Had a nice chat while we were ordering. Got a couple of lattes. I ordered my London Fog latte (a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra foam). They had some really nice looking bakery (croissants, coffee cake, and turnovers). Got a rhubarb turnover that we had warmed up. We ended up picking a quiet spot in the back. The London Fog was good, but not great. It wasn't as warm as I normally get (could have asked for extra hot?), and a little weaker too. The turnover was heated up a bit too much and ended up a bit deflated. Tasty, but the texture was off. Cute spot. If we came through again, would definitely give it another try.

We sliced and served it with an Italian meal and an olive oil dipping sauce and it was the highlight. Soft, fluffy, and flavorful. -bbq bacon biscuit sandwiches: very good! You can get them to heat them in their oven for you or you do it at home. Just a slight sweetness and hint of BBQ, which seems to have coated the crisp bacon. We wished there had been more of the cinnamon/sugar filling in it. However, the frosting was to die for!
