Was able to book an appointment last minute for an eyebrow thread and tint. While the tint was not that dark, and didn't close in at the ends it did give me a more natural look. Hilarious customer service I love yall tho. read more

Selis Eyebrows is my new go-to salon for eyebrow threading. Prior to switching over to Selis Eyebrows, I frequented a place further South but when I moved further North I needed to find a place closer to me. Like most Yelpers I checked out a few places in the area before finally coming across Selis Eyebrows. The brow technician that I met during my first visit is what made them stand out from the rest. Anytime I visit a new brow salon I bring a reference photo of my favorite brows. I show them so they can visualize how I like my brows. This may seem extreme but I do not have much luck with salons that have rotating technicians. I have a shaved head so having messed up brows impacts my face even more. The technician I encountered was so sweet and understanding. She assured me that all of the salon technicians focus on cleaning up the brows during your first visit. They like to follow your natural brow line unless you state you want something in particular. She made me feel at ease and I loved the end result. Since I waited a longer period of time to visit my brows were more messy which typically hurts more but she was gentle. I took a long time grow out my eyebrow tips from the years of waxing and trying to force myself to have an arched brow. During my visit she didn't default to making my brows thin and kept them fuller which is my preference. The inside of the salon is spacious and always clean. Every time I've visited there wasn't too much of a line. I normally visit on the weekdays not around their peak hours. They do offer appointments if you are pressed for time and don't want to wait. I hope Selis Salon stays in the area for a long time because they are top notch. read more

It really sucks writing this review as I've been coming here for a bit and had a lot of pretty decent experiences. I usually just come in for a quick cleanup and call it a day and it's really close to my apartment. Today the girl was rushing and not paying attention and this is what I got left with. She didn't even apologize. My eyebrows are pretty fine to begin with and now they're pencil thin. When I told her she just shrugged it off and said it was "just my shape" and she didn't take any extra off. I was literally crying in the chair and she didn't care at all, just offered me some cooling gel. Guess I'm just gonna have to rock the thin brow trend and spend the next year growing them back. I came in today to get my eyebrows threaded. I specifically said to leave then thick and keep the natural shape but I left with them thin and arched, none of which I asked for. it looks like my eyebrows have been cut in half and its gonna take a while to grow back. im so unbelievably unhappy with how they look read more

I got the front Brazilian wax. The staff were really nice, however, I left unimpressed and with wax still on me. It took 30 minutes for me to take it off myself once I got home. She left a lot of hair on my bikini line and front. She told me they were ingrown hairs but they very much are not because I can get them with a razor. The service was rushed and messy. It actually pains me to write this review. I genuinely really thought I found "my" eyebrow place since coming back to Chicago. However, after a very awkward encounter today, I will not be returning to Selis. I walked in today to get my eyebrows threaded as usual. When I walked in the woman who usually does my eyebrows was acting very off and then said something to another woman who I assume is the owner. The woman looked at me and said, Oh, I wanted to speak to you. At this point, I'm like oh goodness, like I don't have time for a sales pitch right now! However, to my surprise, she said that I left the last time after I canceled my payment and they tried to catch me but I was in such a hurry. Like what? I am really confused at this point, and they know I am confused because they keep just accusing me of "canceling" my payment and "leaving" in a hurry. But in my mind, I'm like, ok, how do you cancel an apple pay payment that has already been captured, and two, even if I was in a hurry, this place is on a very busy road next to a college - so the chances of me just peeling out and being off on my way before they could come out to my car and just fix the situation right there is just zero to none. At this point, I am annoyed, and I just want to go, so she did my eyebrows very quickly, and I went to pay as usual with my apple pay. I asked if they knew what day the transaction was from and she showed me a picture. The screenshot stated that the transaction was canceled due to inactivity. Due to inactivity. The girl that does my eyebrows further expounded that the screen just kept spinning round and round. When I said, that sounds like an error with your system or your internet, she again called over the other woman. So you can continue to accuse me of canceling the payment but when I start making sense, all of sudden you don't want to talk to me or take responsibility? Surprisingly, my payment went through just fine this time as it did every other time - so again, not sure what happened that day but it was 100% no fault of mine. The nerve of this place accusing me of purposefully canceling the payment and then like running out? But then I come back? Of all the times I have come here, I have gotten one free eyebrow. I usually forget the card because yes I am always in a hurry, I am very busy. I don't come here for free stuff. I came here because I liked how you all did eyebrows. However, being accused of canceling a payment has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I think if you had just been like, there was an error and we weren't able to capture your payment last time - we could have continued our beautiful and harmonious relationship for many years. But your continuous assertions that this was somehow my fault is not cool, or professional. To be clear, the payment did not go through, I did check my banking. That is not the issue. If the payment did not go through, I am happy to pay, which I did. The issue for me is being accused of somehow purposely canceling the payment. If the machine is spinning round and round that is an indication of a system or wifi issue. If you saw that, why would you not address that? No, YOU let me leave, and now you want to blame me for canceling the payment and then peeling out into heavy traffic before you could catch me? No, big fat bologna! Acknowledge your part and take ownership. Maybe you can save a customer next time. read more

I was looking for a place that specializes in eyebrows (I usually get them waxed at the nail salon I go to), so I made an appointment with Selis. At 72, my brows are thinning and going haywire. When I came in, the one employee there acted annoyed that I tore her away from her conversation with a young man who was hanging around. She spent a bored minute waxing my eyebrows, declared them done, and took my money. I felt her attitude was ageist -- she was friendly to a young woman who came in as I was leaving. This place seems to cater to students and students only. If you are older than 22 or so, stay away. read more

Simply the worst haircut that I've ever received in my life, including my own attempts to style, which I should have done again in this instance. Monday September 26, 2022 I was looking for a store and I was ultiizing my GPS from my phone I didn't get to the right location that day, but I found what I also needed for that day which is Selis Eyebrows. I knew nothing about Selis Eyebrows till I got there. Mind you have been wanted to get a wax which I have before and been to other places to get it done. But all sudden as I'm walking to find a store I saw this and I'm like let me go in and get my wax done. The service was great even the price it was $16 I payed for chin and neck. I like that person who wax me I was asking couple questions and I felt comfortable. She was open-minded and respectful. Place was clean and fit perfect its not a huge place. I will definitely go regular this will be one of my place for maintenance. Oh they offer lots of service the list I got from the store was definitely long. read more

Selis always does an excellent job on my eyebrows. I go in about once a month to get them threaded and it is such an amazing experience. From the atmosphere to the decor. 10/10 read more
