I would like to defend Christin Cobb against ANY negative regard that is thrown her way. I feel as if her skill and expertise go above and beyond many of the stylists in the area. Christin has trained under EXCEPTIONAL people, which is where she acquires her taste and ability. Sure, Christin is a rocker with avant garde style and a huge personality, but what ISN'T to love about that? She is attentive and caring towards her clients and their needs/wants, but she will not put up with bullshit. Time is of the essence with Christin Cobb; she is constantly booked to the brim, with people desperately wanting her WONDERFUL talent. If she was as terrible as "Overeater A." had suggested, she wouldn't be as busy and successful as she is. Her name wouldn't be in Allure Beauty Magazine and D. Magazine, just to name a few of her most accomplished accolades. She runs her business according to what she has learned over 20+ years of experience in the field, which is much more than the majority of high-end stylists in the area. Her "twist" technique creates a layered look, giving volume to long cuts and style-able pieces to short cuts. As with any cut, practice and the right tools/products are the key to pulling it off, and dissatisfaction often comes with not knowing what to do with it once you leave the salon. Don't blame the stylist for incompetencies, when in reality, there were no questions asked about how to get that look up to par on your own time. I would NOT listen to negative reviews of Ms. Cobb. She is talented, personable, and a LOT of fun. Her salon is wonderful, as is the cut you receive. You get what you pay for, and you get your money's worth with Christin Cobb. I most definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a new, edgy haircut with style and personality. read more

As I lawyer, I must always look professional; but professional doesn't have to mean boring. Christin Cobb at Select Salon has been styling my hair for nearly 20 years, and I've not let anyone else touch my hair since that first cut! My look has evolved over the years from long to short, from smooth to spiky. At all times it is appropriate for any social or professional situation and is always stylish. I am at ease letting Christin practice her art, and I have never once been disappointed--I can't say that about anyone else who did my hair before. For those afraid of color (like I was), Christin is a master. After some gentle prodding on her part, I let Christin color my hair. She added beautiful highlights that showed off the cut to its best advantage and made me wonder why I hadn't been coloring my hair for years! Since those first few highlights, Christin has changed me to a blonde, a redhead and an edgy tricolor. The color always complements my skin tone and shows off her masterful styling. I've recommended Christin to many people, and I don't know a single one who was disappointed in her work. In fact, I think most of them still go to Christin exclusively! I'll continue to recommend Christin Cobb to anyone who wants a fashionable hair style comparable to those seen in exclusive fashion magazines. read more

I just moved to the US and wanted to get highlights in my naturally (dull) blonde hair. I found this salon through the good reviews here on yelp. The salon is a big house with multiple rooms where different stylists rent a chair. The interior is one of the coolest I have ever seen for a hair salon! Each room is different and the atmosphere is circus/pin-up eclectic. Heather Kitsoulis waited for me outside a gave me a very warm welcome with a tour. She really took the time for me, even if it was friday evening! I got the most beautiful natural looking highlights, exactly like I wanted. Heather is fun as a stylist and she talks a lot, which is in here case a good thing:). She really listens to you and is really good at what she does. She even gave a tutorial in how to curl my hair with a curling iron and some make-up advice! Highly recommended and good value!! read more

I have had my hair cut and styled three consecutive times in the past three months by Lei at Select Salon and have consistently received fantastic treatment and great results. Lei is a true artist when it comes to a variety of treatments. She understands what I want. She can look at a photo and know exactly how to adapt that certain style to my own individual features. The results are always fantastic, original, and easy to maintain. Lei also sets a gold standard for waxing and lash tinting. She does amazing things with my brow----always precise, natural, and subtle. Lei is professional, experienced, and tells it like it is. I now have a standing appointment every month at Select Salon with Lei, and look will forward to visiting her again and again for the best hair, brow, and lash treatments! read more

Cody is a superb professionaly, and a gifted artist. I have been to many colorists and stylists, and Cody contains the rare combination of expertise on both sides of the spectrum. My color is very natural looking, the cut is hip and youthful, yet I am able to hold business meetings with some off the most conservative CEO's, in my industry! I am delighted with Cody's excepttional work, and he is a lof of fun to hang out with when going the the color and cut process. I highly recommend Cody Patterson to any one seeking a great appearance! And Select Salon is an absolute find! It is an adorable house on Cedar Springs, and very eclectic. Try it, I am sure you will love it, and Cody rocks! Thanks, Cody...Tons! read more

Christin Cobb is a genius; she was born to do hair. What places Christin on another level is the intuition she brings to this art: she's made a masterpiece of flowing layers against the odds of my thin and fine hair. I didn't know I'd ever like my hair until Christin worked her magic. Instead of lamenting my lack of hair and volume like other stylists, Christin exclaimed "this will be fun!" For whom was it more fun: for me, who walked out with the best hair of my life, or for Christin, who works with pure passion and skill? She's the first person to celebrate the quirks of my hair. Christin's optimistic and solution-oriented approach to your hair yields incredible results-- so come see for yourself! read more

I absolutely love Christin! I started seeing her 3 or 4 years ago when a friend recommended her and I've been so happy with her. We've done extreme blonde and extreme brunette (now back to my natural blonde) and I've loved every look I've gotten from her. She knows me and knows what types of hairstyles look good for me. I've recommended several friends and not one has said they didn't like their cut They love her just as much as I do! She's even done my mother's hair and she raved over the color Christin did. She was very pleased, and it's hard to get a thumbs up from her. I have moved from the Dallas area, but still drive an hour just to get my hair cut from Christin. She's the best! read more

LOVE Cynthia Vurbeff! I have been going to her for 3 years now and every time she highlights and cuts my hair it looks perfect! I moved to Dallas from Chicago 4 years ago and was having the hardest time finding someone that could do blond highlights the way I like. She got it on the first try and gave me a great price, because of that I haven't gone to anyone else since. Her personality is also awesome! It's always an exciting and entertaining few hours with Cynthia. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to go to her. read more

Jay Knearem has been my personal trainer and massage therapist for the past 10 years and I cannot say enough great things about him! He is a great motivator, without his encouragement I would never work out. I love that he has a private room at Select Salon where I can work out and also have my weekly massage. His hands are golden! The salon is "super cool", very eclectic, filled with antiques and oddities that in some cases are for sale. I just love going there, and highly recommend it and especially Jay to all. read more

Christin Cobb is by far the only person I trust when it comes to hair. She knows how to bleach hair like a boss and she can obviously achieve what ever you want. If you haven't met her/seen her, you're crazy! I don't write reviews, I don't use Yelp but I had to take a min to let you all know, you're wasting your time getting your hair done by anyone else. Do yourself a favor! Cheers ;) - Boy Epic read more
