Man, where do I even start. I've never been to more sorry of an excuse of a business than SEL Sportswear. Even after the downsize and the liquidation of most of their sweat shop produced merchandise, their inventory consists of terrible quality sports memorabilia. A vast majority of it is either damaged, stained, or otherwise not in good enough condition to be sold anywhere near what their prices are. Steve Levine is the owner, the old bald douche bag that loves to swear out loud and talk over people. SEL stands for Steve Earnest Levine, incase anyone was wondering. Steve and his son Zach are both Jewish, and it's sad to say they live up to the Jewish stereotype very well. If you are any color other than white expect to be followed around the store like a criminal and have an employee or his dickhead son peeking around the corners making sure you aren't trying to steal anything and making you feel as uncomfortable as possible. Crazy you'd think they would want to do whatever they could to try and make the customer as at home as possible and actually TRY TO SELL their merchandise, instead it felt the opposite to me, as if they wanted you to not touch any many things as possible. The owners son, the tall pale ogre looking man-child that works there with his dad eventually walked up to me and my son after about 30 minutes of browsing and asked "are you guys actually going to buy something or can I take my lunch break now?" I was honestly so caught off guard that this terribly built frat kid really just said that to my face in front of me and my son, that I just dropped everything that were in me and my sons hands on the floor right in front of the asshole and began walking toward the door. I had to pass Zach, the owners son and almost felt as if I had to stand my ground for a half second for him to move out of my way. He was definitely taller than me, but I was not intimidated at all. I've never been to a store (especially a mom and pop local business) and felt so disrespected in my life. The son called over to his dad that we had thrown the stuff down and stepped all over it, which the owner, Steve yelled back "I know I've been watching the idiots on camera the entire time!" I heard this right as my son and I approached the door to exit and it took every bit of strength inside to not go behind the counter and shove my foot up this rude jew's ass or at least tell those dickheads off, but I wasn't going to make a bad example of myself in front of my 13 year old son. When I came to this conclusion to not confront either of them, Steve the owner took it upon himself to tell me to "never come back and that my kind (black people) are all the same, and that I need to pay for the shirts and jersey I dropped and stepped on". When my son and I got into the car and drove away he expressed to me how uncomfortable he felt while experiencing that ordeal and asked what we did wrong. I honestly have no idea how this place has been open for 25 years if that's how they treat customers. To any of my fellow African American folks considering visiting this store, DON'T! Something similar will probably happen to you and you will be treated as less of a person. I hope this place shuts down permanently soon! read more
