Going here on Memorial Day weekend (which is usually when they open for the season) has been a tradition in my family for over 20 years. I would always complain about waking up at the butt crack of dawn to be the first to get in but it was fun on the drive home to count the long lines of cars trying to come in while I munch on my yummy cherries. Prices have gone up over the years and it looks like the orchard is getting smaller but it it still a fun time indeed. Tips: 1. Don't pick the cherries in the parking lot. The workers will get mad at you and the cherries aren't ripe there anyways. 2. Do not wear nice/white clothes/shoes. It will get dirty as you walk around, climb the ladder and challenge people to pit spitting contests. 3. Find someone to help you with your ladder. Those things are huge and it looks a little sad when you're trying to set it up by yourself. 4. Looks can be conceiving. Go for the dark red, firm cherries. They're the yummiest. But taste test to make sure. The cherries that look like butts are still good to eat. =) 5. Pick only the cherries - not the leaves or stems. You're paying by the pound so you don't want $6 worth of stems (unless your tongue wants to practice it's knot-tying skills). 6. Do not pick cherries by the port-o-potties. That's just gross.

This has been the location of convenience for cherries. We had been going across the street for our Asian Peaches and thus just cross the street for cherries instead of spinning around and around. The place is scattered and ladders are all around. Just the ground is all tore up too, so need to make sure kids and older folks need to really watch where they are walking.

    Best thing about this place

The service is good and they have a place to wash your hards after picking Cherries but the trees are high and very hard to pick the Cherries, Picking Cherries at the place can be dangerous and that is why you have to sign your waiver before you can pick anything. Personally I am not sure why this place get 5 stars review but maybe they should try other place first and I like Lopez Ranch best. Hard to get in and out for parking. (Cherries is $2.50 per pound like any other location.)

After an hour of picking. Thumbs down!

Please don't take your family there. We have been here many years while our children was small, and every Memorial weekend our family always come here. They always had great fruits and good prices for U pick. We back here this weekend 5/2016, and so disappointed the price is expensive the fruits are so bad, there are NOT a lot of fruits on the tree. We felt like they use us to clean up the tree, after they picked all the good ones already. You should check some where else before go to Seiko ranch. I hope you & your family have a great memory of Cherries picking not disappointed one. Good luck!

Unfortunately, it was too late to get reservations for the next day but a friend had mentioned there was another farm taking walk-ins so we decided to give them a try. Following the long line of traffic down Sellers Avenue we found our destination was sold out. Although the city seemed busy, I was determined to find a spot to pick some cherries. We drove toward Delta Road and happen to stumble upon Dwelley Farms. Thankfully, they weren't too busy yet and were taking walk-ins for $5 per adult and children free. The $5 fee would also go toward whatever cherries were picked for purchase. The person in the front explained their rate was a little higher than others since their farm was organic. The farm was clean, easy to navigate through and had covid protocols in place. We were directed toward the riper, fuller trees and found them to be quite sweet and plentiful. Seeing the excitement of my parents and husband and son bonding over cherry picking filled my heart. They were all having so much fun picking and trying cherries I only picked a handful while snapping photos and enjoying their happiness. I do not remember how long we stayed at the farm but lots of smiles and $43 in cherries later we left with 8lbs of cherries. And did we eat them all? YES, because they were that good. I'm happy we found Dwelley Farms and look forward to visiting them again next year.

(3.5 stars, rounded up to 4)…read more The Urban Edge Farm is well-known for their peach and apricots during the summer time. But who said U-Pick season has to end after the summer? During the fall, they offer other U-Pick fruits, such as pomegranates, persimmons, and kumquats. Last weekend, we decided to try out their persimmon U-Pick. I initially found out about when their persimmon U-Pick would be available through an Instagram comment (there weren't any lnstagram posts or events on their website directly advertising this year's persimmon season), but I also double-checked by calling them the morning of before making the trek to Brentwood. The front of the farm area is a little store front, where you can buy fresh produce that's been harvested directly from the farm. This is also where you weigh your fruits after picking them. After completing the liability form via QR code, they drive you and your guests on a jeep to the fruit trees (and back). During the short drive to the persimmon trees, we also spotted baby cherry trees, a couple of pomegranate trees, and what appeared to be a grapefruit tree. As for the persimmons, there were about 5 Fuyu trees and 2 Hachiya trees. There were plenty of Fuyus available for us to pick. On the other hand, the Hachiya trees were quite bare so we only ended up finding and picking one that was ripe enough. At $4/lb for both varieties of persimmons, we ended up paying around ~$17 for 12 persimmons. The persimmons that were ripe enough to eat were nice and sweet. Getting the U-Pick experience without the summer heat and with reasonable prices was great. The only downside to this experience was the abundance of ants on the trees. The ants got on my hands, clothes, and even my face and the top of my head. The ants didn't appear to affect the quality of the fruit, since they were mainly on the branches and the tops of the persimmon leaves. I wasn't afraid of getting ants on me, but it was starting to get bothersome having to swat the ants away from my body and the persimmons I picked. I thought I had gotten rid of all the ants before leaving and getting into my car, but throughout the ride home, I spotted some straggler ants on my lap and arms, and even on the windshield! So take that into consideration if you're not particularly fond of ants.
