This is my second time visiting Canciamilla Ranch in Brentwood. I came three weeks ago because they were the first to display and provide White Peaches along the road of farms and ranches along (fruit row) driving into Brentwood from Vasco Rd. I wasn't into picking cherries like at the other farms. I knew what I was looking for and that was White Peaches. What I found was a beautiful thing! Their parking area can accomodate about 10-15 cars. When we were there today, there was only a couple cars there. I thought that was good so as not to be crowded with other Peach Pickers. You can pick the fruit yourself on their ranch or buy the freshly picked, perfectly ripe peaches and nectarine fruit on the table at a slightly higher cost. I had my kids with me and wanted to give them a lovely experience so we picked the fruit. We were directed by one of the sons to stay within the roped off area. We grabbed a couple of buckets and we were off. The kids started off at the first tree closest to the walk but I didn't want to do the easiest thing. Plus, I wanted better fruit. So, I directed my kids to follow me and we ventured to the middle area of the farm and began picking there. We found many beautiful fruit and had tried a couple to realize how special our harvest was. The family that own and run the ranch are very nice and are great people!

We came here on a Sunday around 2PM to pick some fresh peaches. After researching online I saw that Canciamilla Ranch was one of the only local places open for u-pick peaches. Parking is a little hectic as it's one road for going both in and out. Once we got there we grabbed a bucket and headed into the peach picking area. It was packed! Luckily there were still tons of peaches to be picked. We paid $2.50 per pound and were given a bag to transport the peaches home in. It was nice that some were firm and other's soft and ready to eat.

I went back in June 2021 and it was a fun u-pick experience! The fruits were small but ripe and delicious. The orchard was well kept and there were boxes to pick up on your way out if you weren't too successful finding ones you liked. Not too many varieties of stonefruits available at the time, but a good place to get delicious peaches, nectarines, and plums.

Overall very bad experience coming here.. The visit spoiled my entire day. 1) It's a very small plantation. You won't get much picking here. During my visit most trees were young. 2) They will not allow a chair for my aging mother to sit on while we picked. One guy chased me all the way to collect the chair and spoke very rudely. 3) Met another rude guy at the counter who was a total jerk explaining that you must buy 2 pounds of fruits per adult. Something that can be explained politely. 4) I am not sure about this one but I suspect that they sprayed some kind of pesticide here which should not be allowed in U-pick farms. My entire face got a severe allergy response after eating a peach. I do have allergies with some kinds of pesticides.

Unfriendly staff. The nectarines were also not very tasty and there was limited trees to pick from.

Best nectarines ever! Bring a flat box so they don't injure each other because they are *very* ripe.

Well being truthful even some as we picked....The orchard is beautiful, the staff is always friendly, and the experience has become one of our favorite family traditions. In a world where so many places change over time, it's honestly amazing to have a spot that stays consistently wonderful year after year. Thank you for a decade of memories, sticky fingers, full buckets, and happy hearts. Already counting down until next cherry season! Now to pit them and make a fresh cherry pie..... $4.50/pound

Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

Unfortunately, it was too late to get reservations for the next day but a friend had mentioned there was another farm taking walk-ins so we decided to give them a try. Following the long line of traffic down Sellers Avenue we found our destination was sold out. Although the city seemed busy, I was determined to find a spot to pick some cherries. We drove toward Delta Road and happen to stumble upon Dwelley Farms. Thankfully, they weren't too busy yet and were taking walk-ins for $5 per adult and children free. The $5 fee would also go toward whatever cherries were picked for purchase. The person in the front explained their rate was a little higher than others since their farm was organic. The farm was clean, easy to navigate through and had covid protocols in place. We were directed toward the riper, fuller trees and found them to be quite sweet and plentiful. Seeing the excitement of my parents and husband and son bonding over cherry picking filled my heart. They were all having so much fun picking and trying cherries I only picked a handful while snapping photos and enjoying their happiness. I do not remember how long we stayed at the farm but lots of smiles and $43 in cherries later we left with 8lbs of cherries. And did we eat them all? YES, because they were that good. I'm happy we found Dwelley Farms and look forward to visiting them again next year.

(3.5 stars, rounded up to 4)…read more The Urban Edge Farm is well-known for their peach and apricots during the summer time. But who said U-Pick season has to end after the summer? During the fall, they offer other U-Pick fruits, such as pomegranates, persimmons, and kumquats. Last weekend, we decided to try out their persimmon U-Pick. I initially found out about when their persimmon U-Pick would be available through an Instagram comment (there weren't any lnstagram posts or events on their website directly advertising this year's persimmon season), but I also double-checked by calling them the morning of before making the trek to Brentwood. The front of the farm area is a little store front, where you can buy fresh produce that's been harvested directly from the farm. This is also where you weigh your fruits after picking them. After completing the liability form via QR code, they drive you and your guests on a jeep to the fruit trees (and back). During the short drive to the persimmon trees, we also spotted baby cherry trees, a couple of pomegranate trees, and what appeared to be a grapefruit tree. As for the persimmons, there were about 5 Fuyu trees and 2 Hachiya trees. There were plenty of Fuyus available for us to pick. On the other hand, the Hachiya trees were quite bare so we only ended up finding and picking one that was ripe enough. At $4/lb for both varieties of persimmons, we ended up paying around ~$17 for 12 persimmons. The persimmons that were ripe enough to eat were nice and sweet. Getting the U-Pick experience without the summer heat and with reasonable prices was great. The only downside to this experience was the abundance of ants on the trees. The ants got on my hands, clothes, and even my face and the top of my head. The ants didn't appear to affect the quality of the fruit, since they were mainly on the branches and the tops of the persimmon leaves. I wasn't afraid of getting ants on me, but it was starting to get bothersome having to swat the ants away from my body and the persimmons I picked. I thought I had gotten rid of all the ants before leaving and getting into my car, but throughout the ride home, I spotted some straggler ants on my lap and arms, and even on the windshield! So take that into consideration if you're not particularly fond of ants.
