What a wonderful place to pick peaches, nectarines, apricots and plums! The true gem of those place is the owner, she made us feel so welcome and took the time to explain everything to us. Our kids absolutely loved her and the fruit we picked was some of the best I've ever had. As a Brentwood native, a place like this reminds me of why I love this town so much, feels like home.

Our family really enjoyed visiting this smaller family ranch and felt super welcome by Letty's great hospitality. It's the start of peach season (mostly yellow but some whites are ripening too), and we were also able to get some plums. They provide buckets for picking and boxes for packing to ensure your peaches don't get squished on the way home.

Today is the first day open! I am not sure they open for picking peach or not,so I just called them before I came. They told me just come and don't need to make a reservation. Price is updated $2.15 per pound! Tomorrow open as well!

On a spontaneous Sunday morning, my family and I decided to take three toddlers to Rancho Zaragoza as first time U-pickers. We didn't know that cherries were not in season anymore so we settled for peach and plum picking--which was a win! The peaches and plums were low enough for the kids to pick! The enjoyed feeding the goats and seeing chickens run around. Extra bonus: Leti, the owner, was amazing and friendly and gave us great directions.

I was just there yesterday and the lady Mrs Lety and her daughter Timi greeted us and made us feel so welcomed. The young lady explained all the different variety of fruit that they have available (white peaches, yellow peaches, plums, apricots, and different types of pluots like Dapple dandy Pluot and emerald gem pluots). Timi even showed us how to pick the fruit because only cause the fruit is big doesn't necessarily mean it's ready. You should also buy some of the delicious honey that they produce themselves While you guys are there you should also check out the petting zoo . My kids loved all the animals especially Louie the potbelly pig, Nugget the friendly mini goat and Fiona the hairy cow. Look no further if you're looking for a U-Pick with delicious fruit and friendly staff. We will definitely be comings coming back!!

For 10 years straight, Nunn Better Cherry Orchard in Brentwood has never let us down!…read more Every season we make the trip out, and every single year the cherries are absolutely incredible -- sweet, fresh, and impossible to stop eating before we even get home. Well being truthful even some as we picked....The orchard is beautiful, the staff is always friendly, and the experience has become one of our favorite family traditions. In a world where so many places change over time, it's honestly amazing to have a spot that stays consistently wonderful year after year. Thank you for a decade of memories, sticky fingers, full buckets, and happy hearts. Already counting down until next cherry season! Now to pit them and make a fresh cherry pie..... $4.50/pound

Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

Unfortunately, it was too late to get reservations for the next day but a friend had mentioned there was another farm taking walk-ins so we decided to give them a try. Following the long line of traffic down Sellers Avenue we found our destination was sold out. Although the city seemed busy, I was determined to find a spot to pick some cherries. We drove toward Delta Road and happen to stumble upon Dwelley Farms. Thankfully, they weren't too busy yet and were taking walk-ins for $5 per adult and children free. The $5 fee would also go toward whatever cherries were picked for purchase. The person in the front explained their rate was a little higher than others since their farm was organic. The farm was clean, easy to navigate through and had covid protocols in place. We were directed toward the riper, fuller trees and found them to be quite sweet and plentiful. Seeing the excitement of my parents and husband and son bonding over cherry picking filled my heart. They were all having so much fun picking and trying cherries I only picked a handful while snapping photos and enjoying their happiness. I do not remember how long we stayed at the farm but lots of smiles and $43 in cherries later we left with 8lbs of cherries. And did we eat them all? YES, because they were that good. I'm happy we found Dwelley Farms and look forward to visiting them again next year.

(3.5 stars, rounded up to 4)…read more The Urban Edge Farm is well-known for their peach and apricots during the summer time. But who said U-Pick season has to end after the summer? During the fall, they offer other U-Pick fruits, such as pomegranates, persimmons, and kumquats. Last weekend, we decided to try out their persimmon U-Pick. I initially found out about when their persimmon U-Pick would be available through an Instagram comment (there weren't any lnstagram posts or events on their website directly advertising this year's persimmon season), but I also double-checked by calling them the morning of before making the trek to Brentwood. The front of the farm area is a little store front, where you can buy fresh produce that's been harvested directly from the farm. This is also where you weigh your fruits after picking them. After completing the liability form via QR code, they drive you and your guests on a jeep to the fruit trees (and back). During the short drive to the persimmon trees, we also spotted baby cherry trees, a couple of pomegranate trees, and what appeared to be a grapefruit tree. As for the persimmons, there were about 5 Fuyu trees and 2 Hachiya trees. There were plenty of Fuyus available for us to pick. On the other hand, the Hachiya trees were quite bare so we only ended up finding and picking one that was ripe enough. At $4/lb for both varieties of persimmons, we ended up paying around ~$17 for 12 persimmons. The persimmons that were ripe enough to eat were nice and sweet. Getting the U-Pick experience without the summer heat and with reasonable prices was great. The only downside to this experience was the abundance of ants on the trees. The ants got on my hands, clothes, and even my face and the top of my head. The ants didn't appear to affect the quality of the fruit, since they were mainly on the branches and the tops of the persimmon leaves. I wasn't afraid of getting ants on me, but it was starting to get bothersome having to swat the ants away from my body and the persimmons I picked. I thought I had gotten rid of all the ants before leaving and getting into my car, but throughout the ride home, I spotted some straggler ants on my lap and arms, and even on the windshield! So take that into consideration if you're not particularly fond of ants.
