I haven't been to Seiwa before.. and it was recommended by some friends to make sushi night easy and yummy. It's a little far for us, but I wanted to check it out. I got so much fresh salmon, tuna and yellowtail. I find the pricing to be great, and worth it. We got big pieces and then cut it up at home and made our own nigiri. I also bought some sake, and it was definitely worth the drive to get! Check them out if you're trying to do your own sushi night and need some fresh, good food!

Assortment of sashimi bowls and sushi

This has to be my favorite semi-lowkey Japanese store for fresh sashimi and other foods! Inside the store is a lot smaller than expected but they have the best goodies! In the refrigerated section, you will find an assortment of foods and treats ranging from donburi bowls, onigiris, makis, tonkatsu, cream puffs, and even pre-made gourmet ramen bowls! It's definitely difficult not to buy everything, and it is all super affordable and high quality! All of the workers are so lovely and nice. They are always cranking fresh sushi in the morning. The person at the cash register will always try to make small talk, and they're super quick with scanning and bagging. This place is my favorite to go to for fresh sashimi and other Japanese goods. If you want all of the goodies, go early in the morning!

My favorite Japanese grocery store!! Love their sushi, snacks, drinks... basically everything in the store. My sister and I visited seiwa a little over a week after the storm, but when we went, their refrigerated sections were practically wiped out as they were without power for days. They had some sushi though, which was great bc that's one of the primary reasons why I go. The sushi is sold at a very reasonable price, and the quality is pretty darn good and fresh! Tried out the yellowtail nigiri- it had a lightly fatty and buttery texture which was divine. Tuna temaki had a generous amount of filling, and I really enjoyed it. Try to visit before evening time before most of the sushi is gone. They have seating near the sushi section where the cafe used to be. I miss the cafe so much because they used to serve udon and all kinds of dishes before the pandemic. It is what it is. As for the matcha powder section, they didn't have anything that was appealing to me but still check it out and see the selection they have. Plenty of parking and the crowd is dependent on the time you go. Usually it's chill!

Great Japanese store in Houston! If you like buying natto this is a go to place! :) Products are always fresh and just amazing! Keep up with the work! :)

HOUSTON, TX 77077 / JAPANESE GROCERY / MULTIPLE VISITS +Various bento boxes or to-go plates. -No loyalty rewards program like H Mart (i.e., spend $1,000 get $10 coupon certificates). -The sashimi or sushi isn't fresh all the time. There has been many times where the fish was already undergoing the trimethylamine process.

Seiwa Market holds a special place in my heart. I love coming here for their prepackaged meals, fresh sushi, and groceries... especially if I'm trying to cook Japanese food at home. It's a small and cute little market but it honestly has everything you need for cooking Japanese food at home. Good selection of fresh sashimi, meats, and fish for cooking. They sell good quality produce as well. Lots of unique Japanese snacks and sweets too if you're into that. I am a fan of the packaged bento boxes and other ready to eat meals such as their hamburger steaks, curry, and sushi rolls. Be sure to come early in the day if you're trying to grab lunch here as they do tend to sell out pretty quickly!

The sushi and sashimi can be a hit or miss. The fish is well-kept but there are a lot of times the raw fish taste fishy and end up getting food poisoning more often than we should. Unfortunately, we keep coming back because it's the only Japanese specialty market that serves legit Japanese cuisine. Wish they served hot food bar items, as well as made-to-order options. There's a microwave you can nuke the unsafe plastics in and eat in a small dining area. It's a small grocery store not as big as Mitsuwa Marketplace, but is pretty neat. Gets super packed on the weekends, so go early if you can.

Being from Hawaiʻi, finding this place in Houston was awesome. This is the first Market that I've been able to find Portuguese sausage & arare (mochi crunch). They also had Hawaiian sweet potato, which I used to make laulau & sweet potato haupia pie. The place is so clean. And although we didn't buy fish that day, their fish/sashimi looked fresh! They also have cold food/bentos that you can heat up after you checkout, which I thought was cool if you're looking for a quick bite.

- for the longest time, I've been wanting to come to seiwa, but it's so so far away from me. however, today I had to be somewhere close by and have some time to spare! - there is a variety of premade food that customers can choose from. They have a microwave & an area for customers to sit and eat the food they buy!! - i loved every single bite! it doesn't seem like a regular takeout bowl from a grocery store - the quality of the salmon and rice was there! so yummy i wish i lived closer to here.

Good selection of products in a very compact store. Prices are not bad. Went in around lunchtime on a saturday, they seemed to be out for many sushi items. but the one I tried was good. The binto box was very good, except for the rice. There was a long line at checkout, but it moved very fast. If you are looking for Japanese specialty items I would give Seiwa a try.

They have a variety of Japanese and East Asian food and products. Although there is a focus on Japanese foods. There is standard service, similar to what you get at the grocery store. It is very authentic. The ambiance of the store is great. And it is easy to navigate through and search for products.

Japanese Fluffy Cheesecake

Love coming here. Kids love the Yakisoba noodles and it's something to keep in stock for a quick dinner. I have a sweet tooth so I usually love the wafer ice cream sandwiches. I did find some Japanese fluffy cheesecake here which definitely satisfied my curiosity about it...and probably at a cheaper price. They got meals that a freshly prepared along with some bakery stuff. Place looks small, but don't let it fool you. There's plenty of things to check out here.

Not much "stuff" there. The "deli" was virtually bare. I was hoping for more variety but they didn't have much.

It's not the most organized place, but if you take your time, you'll find what you need (and probably a few extras). Definitely a go-to for specialty items.

This market is one for the largest Vietnamese markets I've ever been to, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits, frozen foods, dry goods, imported sauces, sweets and more. I particularly love their extensive rice paper selections. My favorite is the "no water" rice paper, which doesn't require dipping in water to roll up like traditional ones. Unfortunately, this type of rice paper is available at every asian market so I'm happy Tan Binh has them. They also have a nice section dedicated to ready-to-eat and hot foods. You can grab and go with options like fried fish, tofu, and cooked meats. Customer service is usually pretty friendly. Just like anywhere else, you should check the expiration date of every product before buying. My cousin forgot to do so and bought two boxes of solar dried bananas that were expired. And during the warmer seasons, they set up a nice plant and herb section for sale right outside the entrance.

The location is checked out ok. Comparing those 2, I like this one better. But not the best one in Asiatown. I wouldn't want to drive all this way for something. I normally hit up Viet Hoa Supermarket on the other side of Beltway. The store is clean enough. Aisles are not always clear. Stuff was all over the floor and blocking the aisles. The shopping carts were all over the parking lot. It's not about what the business did but the customers left the charts wherever they want. I just wish there is a collection point. I have major issue of language barrier with employees here. All signs are in Vietnamese. I had to use Google Translate app for everything. That's too much. I added one star because they have breadfruit. That's a rare item in Houston.

Like other 99 Ranch locations, this store has a huge variety of Asian groceries, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese snacks, sauces, seafood, produce, frozen foods, and pantry items. I usually frequent the 99 Ranch on I-10 and Bunker Hill, but this Westchase location has a very similar layout and selection. Inside, there's also a bakery with fresh buns and pastries, plus a small dining area where you can order combo plates with different meat and vegetable options. The shopping center itself is also convenient since it shares space with other popular businesses like Lady M and Paris Baguette. I also noticed a Daiso location coming soon, which should make this plaza even better for Asian shopping. Another nice feature is the rewards program. You can sign up with your phone number, scan your card during purchases, earn points, and redeem them for discounts later. Overall, this is a great one-stop shop for Asian groceries, snacks, and pastries in the Westchase area. I highly recommend it.

Additionally, the cramped layout isn't helping their cause. That's not to say what they have to offer isn't worthy: their roast meat section seems to be popular for catering and meats for takeout. The produce isn't particularly great but the meat section seems to have been extensive enough for the elders to buy (various) parts for home cooking. Everything here is slower. The checkout, the perusal from patrons, the staff, even the carts are slow to be returned. While I applaud them for serving the locals, I do think there is a lot of room for improvement.
