The service was impeccable and they had so many items from Iran that I had not seen over 40 years! A must try.

I came in with my parents today expecting a normal grocery run and left genuinely shocked by how we…read morewere treated. We saw softshell turtles for sale and decided to buy one. The seafood manager told us it would be over $60 and we said that was fine. He picked one for us and handed it to a worker to clean/prep. While we were picking blue crabs nearby, we saw the worker struggling. My mom politely tried to explain how to clean it properly (she wasn't being rude -- she was trying to help because the worker looked lost). The worker responded with a nasty attitude, brushed her off, and kept ignoring her while chatting with a coworker. Then the worker handed us the bag and said, "Next time I'm not even going to clean it for you -- get out of here!" I've never had an employee speak to my family like that in a grocery store. We were so upset we didn't even take the bag and walked away to finish shopping. At checkout, the seafood manager came over with the same worker and asked why we left it. We explained what happened. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve it, the manager got rude and accused us of leaving it because we can't afford it. That's not only unprofessional -- it's insulting, especially because we agreed to the price from the start and were prepared to pay. And to make things worse, while the worker was chatting with his coworker during the prep, I overheard him saying words like "chinos" and "pinches." I'm not fluent, but I know enough Spanish to recognize when someone is talking about customers in a disrespectful way. It's disturbing to hear that in a store where a lot of customers are Asian. This wasn't a "bad day" situation. It was outright hostility from an employee and a manager who escalated things instead of doing his job. We only took the turtle after demanding an apology, but the experience was already ruined. I won't be returning. If management cares, they need to retrain or replace staff in seafood -- because nobody should be spoken to like that while spending money in your store.

This is no frills steam table/cafeteria style Vietnamese on the back of probably the largest Vietnamese grocery store in Houston and it is great. Pricing starts at $6.99 for rice and two entrees but goes up based on the rice/noodle type and the entrees selected. All of ours (3) were 8.99, but packed (the kids tapped out early) and delicious. I had this beef stew that you would otherwise only find at someone's grandma's house that was killer. Got some turnip cake on the side but everything looked good. The store can get pretty busy, but that's usually a good sign of how popular it is. Prices are reasonable, and you can find things here you won't see at regular grocery stores. It's not the most organized place, but if you take your time, you'll find what you need (and probably a few extras). Definitely a go-to for specialty items.

Both sandwiches were packed with flavor, but the chicken really stood out - it was perfectly seasoned. They include their own house sauce, which is great, but I'd definitely recommend asking for extra on the side since they don't put a ton in the sandwich. That said, it's still not dry at all - just really well-balanced and flavorful. The price is another huge plus. At around $5 per sandwich, it's hard to beat, especially considering the quality. These are easily some of the best Iraqi sandwiches I've had. They were out of a few items when I went (including shawarmas), so it seems like they can run out if you don't go early - just something to keep in mind. On the bright side, it says a lot about how fresh and popular the food is. Service was solid, and there's a small seating area inside the market/bakery if you want to dine in. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Great food, great prices, and definitely worth coming back - I'm already planning to try the lamb and Iraqi kebab sandwiches next time.

Everything is so well-organized and stocked adequately. They have a variety of goods from fresh produce to seafood to baked goods to household items to snacks. They focus more on Chinese specialty goods, but they have varieties of different cultural Asian goods, as well. If you want lamb or beef meat for hot pot, this is the best place to go. The lamb is so soft and not gamey, and it is also very reasonable priced for the amount you get. One whole box is quite dense and can last for multiple homemade hotpot/shabu sessions! I just really love how everything is so organized and clean. Their bakery also has some good stuff. My favorite is their bolo pork bun. The outside is sweet with a sweet custard crust top. It is essentially a pineapple bun filled with pork filling. I can literally eat five of them in a row. Last time we came, we cleared out all their pineapple pork buns! I also really like their produce. They have so many different produce, and it is fresh and reasonable priced. Their seafood area is also pretty well-kept and clean in a separate area. Welcome Food Center has become one of my go-to markets for hotpot meat, produce, and fresh seafood. They are very well-kept and have a lot of options!

Compared to many of the Caribbean all-encompassing establishments that exist, this place is most definitely legit. Like many family-owned places in the area, it is part convenience store and part restaurant. The dining room is deceivingly spacious, with ample seating for all sorts of groups. They are primarily a takeout joint and are especially busy during lunchtime where they offer some of the areas best hot lunches. It's a lot more quiet at night, which would be advantageous for a big group looking to go somewhere where there's plenty of room. I'm extremely pleased with the authentic options, which include mofongo, bizcocho, sancocho, mangú, pollo guisado, yuca con mojo, arroz con gandules, locrio, and espaguetis (#1). I've only been able to sample a handful of items and am eagerly on the hunt for pastelón (#2) and am very keen on trying their version of tres leches. The pollo guisado I had was full of flavor and perfectly stewed over habichuelas and rice. My espaguestis was a tinge on the salty side, but had a nice amount of olives and the indulgent greasy finish that I would want in any pasta meal. Lastly, the mofongo was quite tasty, thought I do wish we had more chicharron in the mix. The staff is most definitely Dominican as well. I was greeted every step of the way, followed with a "que lo que" and I appreciated the kind service. Prices are solid for the area and cash is preferred here (#3). I am so pleased an option is here and I look forward to many future meals. __________ (#1) Dominican style spaghetti. (#2) Dominican style lasagna. (#3) Read: credit card fee.
