My daughter and I moved into the neighborhood of this See's Candies location several years ago and have made it an end of the week tradition to stop in for a "Friday treat". Over time we've added special occasions and even occasional "we need solace" visits. Yes, the chocolates are comforting but have you met the people behind the counter? My daughter says they're like bartenders and yes, that's so fitting. Have you seen Cheers? That's this See's in all of the best ways. What's not to love? Traditional, quality ingredients. Beautiful stores with fabulous smells, enticing my olfactory nerves. Friendly staff that brought me a free dark chocolate truffle when I walked in, then offered assistance to guide me toward the item I was looking for. Ironically, the sugar free candy. lol But have you TRIIIED the SF lollipops??? They're made with sugar alcohols - NOT a low calorie food - and are ah-MAH-zing! But why stop there? Grab a couple of SF dark chocolate bars and a milk chocolate bar for hubs(see what I did there?) and make your way to checkout. Middle of the day on Tuesday seems a pretty SWEET time to come in, but this Mother's Day weekend is sure to be busy. Loads of free parking at The Vineyards. I'm a lucky girl to have TWO See's Candies Stores within a couple miles of my home, so I'll be sure to support both of these shops to keep a great Los Angeles institution thriving. One of my favorite days of the year is Mary See's birthday, where I can go to @seescandies and get my 5 lb box of chocolates on sale!! My mom introduced me to See's candy when I was a little kid. We would always go and make a special box up and treat ourselves. It's something I will always remember and enjoyed doing with her. We both have major sweet tooth's! This year was different. We were planning on going together but life had different plans. She unfortunately was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks. So she missed the date of the create your own box for 20% off that we do together every year. I told her I would get her anything she wanted, but she just hasn't been up to eating hardly anything, and nothing sounds good. Instead I took my niece to show her our traditions, since my mom couldn't make it with me. She now loves her See's candy. I let her make her own 1 lb. box this time. She had so much fun doing it. The employees were so sweet with her that day and made it fun for both of us. I love creating memories and traditions with the ones you love. I hope as soon as my mom is better really soon so I can take her to See's to create her own box of her favorite chocolates. She loves her scotch mallows, Bordeaux chocolates, and then around the holidays she loves to special order her swamp goo and marsh mints! Hopefully we can all go to our favorite location again and all three of us can make our own boxes this time. See's Candies has been at the Porter Ranch Vineyards for a while. My delayed visit here was deliberately accidental and strategic, by design. The store has a horrible location, so it is out of view in the main square. And when it comes into view, I say, maybe next time. So now, it seemed the visit was long overdue. The inside of the store has an open, European like design. The black and white Checkered floors are eye catching, actually the first view that you absorb, when walking in. There is a vast selection of candies (chocolates for a European) distributed amongst several well organized and clean cases. The light on the candies is optimized to stimulate your salivary glands and signal the brain for longing. Yes, it's time, let's buy some See's Candies. While every candy looked appetizing, controlling and magnetic, I came here prepared to fight the major sugar focusses. But we are only human and I was willing to succumb. For me, when it comes to chocolates, it is all about truffles. Picky, yes. No mint, no caramel, no coconut, and so on. I settled for a half pound (approx 12-14) hand selected truffles. All of them my choice (around $17). In summary, See's cannot compare to other chocolatiers, many of which have European origins. In spite of this handicap, See's delivers a super chocolate product that is accompanied with caring, friendly, informative, accommodating and superb customer service. read more

I placed an order online for in store pickup since the Sees closest to me did not have both Valentines Day items in stock and I didn't want chocolate shipped in this heat. The store is very clean and well stocked. But weird greeting experience. I walked in behind a younger woman. We were literally an arms length apart. The girl sitting on the floor stocking the shelf says hello, but only looks at the younger woman (we're probably 20 years apart). We both say hi. Then girl asks if there's anything we are looking for. Woman says no, just looking. Girl is still staring at her when I say I'm there to pick up my order. She absolutely will not divert her stare from the woman- I feel like she thought I was a ventriloquist, but only my mouth is moving. I tell her my name and I kid you not, continues to stare at the woman while saying she'll go check on my order. She never once acknowledged my presence by looking at me. I have never experienced this weird behavior before. I looked for a regular box of candy . When I turned around she was there with a sample for each of us and even while handing one to me, she did not divert her stare from the other woman. I was amused, not angry. Took my box up to the cashier, paid and left. At least the cashier looked me in the eye. read more

It was my first time at this location and it's wonderful! We were greeted with samples and every question I had was answered. The employees were patient and kind and really helped. I was helped right away and they took their time letting me decide and didn't get upset. I love sees candy and was excited when this location opened up. They are in a big outdoor mall so there is a lot to do there. The variety is amazing and they even have new chocolates you can pick from. I will definitely be back and can't wait! read more

I called this shop location based off of an experience my grandfather had. He is an elderly man who wanted to get chocolates for my grandmother in assisted living, but picked an assortment with nuts. This wasn't anyone's fault, he's old and maybe some specifications weren't given. I decided to call the location to see what could be done since the facility my grandmother was in threw away the candy but I wanted to make sure she still got her treat. I requested to speak to a manager and the sweet girl named Narleen on the phone stated that she currently was the manager and she could assist me with whatever I needed. I explained the situation and she thought I was out of state and offered to find a way to drop off the candy to the assisted living which was so amazingly sweet of her. I informed her that I could be in to pick up but wanted to receive confirmation that I could replace the candy which she was happy to. she was set to be off in a few minutes so she left my name with her co workers so they were informed. she was on her way out as I was buying the candy and a cute box to put it in. she was amazing and I appreciate her sweet and thoughtful gesture And even stopping to chit chat with me even though she was off. I usually have a very pleasant experience shopping at See's but yesterday's was quite different. There were about 5 groups of shoppers, I was the only person shopping at the Hanukkah section. The girl working there walked around and offered everyone a sample except she just walked by me and ignored me. Thought maybe she ran out, but right after that she came back out and offered some new people a sample and again just walked by me and ignored me. When she got back up to the counter I looked at her and she side eye'd me. I was just baffled. I went to get in line to purchase items from the counter. I was next inline, there were about 5 employees talking with each other not waiting on anyone. The guy working there skipped over me and proceeded to ask the people behind me if they were ready. Finally, another employee asked if I needed help. I picked out candy and asked if I could have it in a cellophane bag, the girl that had passed over me for the sample came over and muttered something to her about it being an upsale or something because of the bag. I don't know if I was charged more or if that is normal? I didn't complain but the whole experience felt dismissive and pretty bad. It really made me question what the reason behind the poor service was really about. read more

I'm under strict order from my aunt to not let my Nana know this See's opened down the hill from her ;) She loves See's, I mean who doesn't? I stopped in over the weekend to check them out. I'd actually already purchased my grandma's Mother's Day See's chocolates from another location near me but since I was in the area I wanted to see the new store. It's very spacious and well it's a See's so there's everything there that you'd be looking for if you're looking for a See's. The one thing that stood out to me and I felt was really cute, was their lolly measuring chart. How many lolly's tall are you? I'm around 17 lolly's tall. I'm fun size! So not too many but the chart is so cute. Service was fine, we picked out a few pieces and I'd totally swing in to get my grandma candy in the future. First of all we all knows See's makes some of the best chocolate. All the junk sold in stores pales in comparison to See's. So this review is basically for the location. This is a brand spanking new location in the Porter Ranch Vineyards shopping center. The store is a good size and of course clean and well organized. But what really earned the stars was the customer service. The ladies working this evening were so friendly. We were going to get one but she steered us in the other direction to something my husband loved. Then I was trying to be good and not get anything for myself but the blueberry truffle stood out to me. She said, "well that one can be your sample so it's a gift so you have to accept a gift!" She was so sweet. We'll definitely be back, and I like that I don't have to go into a mall to get some treats! read more

We have been shopping at See's for years, but I can't say I have ever been followed around the store while shopping...how uncomfortable!!! There was four of us today and we're used to them asking if we need anything. But, when you get asked by a male employee 3 times in a row if you need help and then asked if they can "hold" your purchase, it starts to feel like profiling! We thought that was the end of it, but then a girl comes up to ask again if we have questions or "hold" our purchase behind the counter. All of this in the span of a few minutes!! I know four hispanic people in a group is suspicious to you all, but make the racial profiling a little more subtle. read more

This is the new location up in Porter Ranch that used to be in the Northridge Fashion center. They brought a lot of their staff over from the mall location and I am so happy they did. We lived really close to the mall and would walk with our small children here and the staff was always so amazing to our family. Now we cannot walk to this location it is still always worth the short drive. They are always so kind to our small children and always ask if the kiddos can have some samples, we never have to ask. The chocolate is fresh and up to par with the standard Sees has for its candies. I live closer to the Devonshire store but i make the extra effort to come to this brand new facility that is spotless and never any homeless hanging around. Narmeen is the sweetest! She was so thoughtful and packed my box with so much love and care. I was getting a box for my cousin who just had twin girls and she wrapped it so cute with pink wrapping and a pink bow with " it's a girl" stickers. This place is completely disorganized! Slow service, incompetent people working there. Should have customers buying pre-boxed candies go right a way to the cashier instead of waiting for the customers that are buying individual candies, which takes too long. They charged me 20 EXTRA DOLLARS!!!! I SPECIFICALLY asked for them to give me a 2 pound box of custom mix chocolates and they lady went $20 over it. You would think that they would tell you when your at the 2 pound limit but they don't. Maybe next time tell me if i'm going to be charged 20 dollars extra so i can see if i want it or not. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth when they do this type of stuff to you. I would also like to add that for some reason they don't allow any type of teacher discount. Teachers don't come to this location. I came here looking to spend $55 dollars and somehow wound up spending $73 (there was no tax) DONT COME TO THIS LOCATION. read more

My son really wanted to buy something with his own money and practice counting money (which they had been learning about at school). Everyone was soooo nice and patient and kind. They made my son feel super special. Then today when i called to ask when the rootbeer lollipops would be back, Narmeen was so sweet and helpful! I'm not 100% sure, but i think she may have also been the person who was so sweet to my son too. This new store is cute, parking is pretty easy and the staff are so sweet. Everyone i have interacted with has been lovely. It's now my favorite Sees Candy! It is the one we go to when we need our chocolate or lollipop fix :) thank you so much for going above and beyond to make my son feel special when most other people seem to get frustrated and impatient with the little kids. Uh-oh, we knew we were in for it when the See's opened in our neighborhood. Their candies are so good! We especially like the bags of butterscotch squares and the peanut brittle, but truly everything in this store is worth taking home. For holidays we always get a pound of the assorted chocolates. Seems like there is always plenty of staff at this location. The only downside is parking on the weekends and evenings; whoever designed the Vineyards wasn't thinking!
