I thought I was done with maple weekend 2026. I had five maples on Saturday alone! But my wonderful…read morepassenger pointed out, as I headed south through Massachusetts - "oh, I think that's another maple event?" "Where?" So I looked around and saw the cars parked behind me. U-turn. Pack into the gravel lot. And... go pet the cows. Yup, this is truly a farm. The barn smells like animals and you can pet the goats. All the staff is friendly and there to explain maple, farming, whatever you'd like. For maple weekend? Excellent. We went into the Calf-a (sound that out) and there was a fairly long waitlist, but passed the time in the maple steam room with free samples! and perhaps the most interesting samples of all. Maple mustard. Various maple dips. And while they were not cheap, the staff did work together to get me some Grade B maple, which is so hard to find nowadays. It's now in my fridge. Once our names were called, we found a great variety on the menu for a very reasonable price. I got two pecan pancakes, fresh made, and my lady got one maple cranberry, made with the cranberries that were used to infuse the cranberry maple syrup. Our table got an entire pitcher of maple to pour as we pleased - yes, I do please. I took a pair of maple donuts to go, and they do not taste like cider donuts. The maple stands out. Fresh made and soft. I know maple is March, but this farm seems like a winner any time of the year you're passing by.

Hidden gem! What a fun, educational, and generally wonderful experience. I would say this is…read moreappropriate for kids aged 0 to probably tween. The property is huge and beautiful, with lots of games and animals to feed and discover. The playground is huge and actually a few different playgrounds. Admission is a little steep, but well worth it given you can spend hours here and also support a small, local business.

A quintessential country Christmas tree farm experience! From the moment you cross the small bridge…read moreover the Landsmankill stream and park next to the century-old red barn, the smell of wood smoke and the sight of friendly faces greet you. Staff and guests are often roasting chestnuts (on the open fire, of course) and the crew there is eager to help you select the perfect tree for your home. They have a great selection of cut-your-own Christmas trees in the back plot, and plenty of pre-cut trees right up front to choose from. Similar or better prices to everywhere else in the area, but in a class of its own for experience. Bring a camera, pour yourself a cup of hot cider, sit by the fire, chat with the staff and guests, and take in the whole experience. I'm a fan! Even if you already have your own artificial tree, stop by and hang out for some extra Christmas cheer. The barn stocked with antiques (not for sale) and decorated with fresh cut garland, fresh Christmas wreaths and kissing balls (the latter two ARE for sale), is worth the trip alone. Definitely on the list of "things to do when visiting Rhinebeck" this holiday season. Past years, they've had dog sleds to help pull your tree, live music and other fun events at the farm from Thanksgiving weekend through Christmas eve. While not as close as everything else in the village, Saltsmans Christmas tree farm is walkable from the shops and restaurants at the center of town. I grew up going here and we used to walk through the woods between our home and the tree farm to cut our own tree at Tremp's.

5 stars for the Christmas Tree!…read more I was in Great Barrington for a tree, and someone mentioned the tree farm in town; I went there and was really disappointed. They were expensive and not full and thick as trees should be (especially for the $$); I could SEE through them! While driving by Agway, I noticed the trees out front and thought I should at least check them out. As soon as I parked right in front, I noticed two straight ahead that caught me eye (tree love at first sight??) and one of them is in my living room right now. Just 6' high - the cute little tree I wanted - incredibly full and they said they got a new tree farm supplying them this year. Also fantastic was the PRICE: regular price was $30 but there was a $5 off deal... gorgeous tree for $25. Wow.

After feeding the birds and deciding it probably was NOT good for them to eat half seed and half dust I returned it to the store to be told that because it wasn't at least half a bag although pretty darn close, they would NOT refund even partially. They could also see that the bag was filled with dust. Agway in Great Barrington, with that attitude, has lost a very good customer as I will never buy anything there again. Buyer beware!
