After trying it for the first time last weekend, I have to admit that they were onto something. I had driven by Anderson before, but it never occurred to me to stop. Last weekend, my wife requested fresh corn. And Anderson was in the perfect location in light of my other errands. They have more than just corn, but they have a tent for the corn, and a tent for the other stuff. The Heirloom Tomatoes looked great, and they had Liuzzi (a great Italian Market in North Haven) Fresh Burrata too. But it's about the corn. They had three kinds. Yellow. Silver Queen. And some sort of hybrid. I'm a simple man. So I went with all yellow. You don't just grab your corn. They have corn concierge service. You tell them what you want. And they try to find you the good ears. They also peeled back the top of the husk to ensure you weren't getting a Dud. The corn was beautiful yellow. It was perfectly rounded and full at the top. It tasted great. I don't go around trying ALL the corn from ALL the stands. But I can't remember better corn in these parts. Five Stars

The Li'l Plant Shop is full of friendly, family owned charm, and extensive horticultural knowledge that you would really have a hard time finding in person somewhere else around here. Perhaps the loveliest part about plant shopping here is that I no longer have to wander around, reading tags sticking out of pots, and googling whether this would be an appropriate plant for the conditions of my home. In stead, a seasoned plant aficionado suggests plants that are ideal for, say, low lighting, high oxygen production and air purification, safety around certain household pets, limited or high maintenance, etc. After a fantastic experience shopping here a few weeks ago when I purchased a stunning Boston fern, an impressive snake plant, and a few other bits and pieces, I decided to sign myself and a few friends up for their bonsai class. Not only did we receive an in depth demonstration and assistance on potting and displaying our bonsai plants, we also got an informative session on almost every aspect of bonsai history, misconceptions and rookie mistakes in bonsai care and a series of other fascinating tidbits, all while drinking wine. I really cannot rate this little gem highly enough! If you are looking to add some green energy to your home, this is the place to go.

I saw some pottery and decor as well. Parking is located in the back. They had a few greenhouses with many pretty flowers and plants. I bought some nice plants for $7 each. I was looking for snake plants or something indoors but the lady working inside said they didn't carry indoor plants. As I was browsing, I found a pothos plant which I read could be indoors. I wanted the hanging baskets but they were on the pricer side, cheapest one being $32 I believe. Overall, they have a good selection and I'm enjoying the plants I bought.

I have a half share which entitles me to a standard size reusable shopping bag of amazing fresh veggies for $12 a week for 20 weeks!!! I split my share with 2 roommates and we always get more than we can handle. (Good thing I have freezer space...) This is my first CSA but I've researched them before and what sets Windham apart is the flexibility of their program. Standard CSAs pre-sort your share every week and offer 1 or 2 pick up locations. Windham has at least 3 pick up locations and if you pick up from either their farm (Sat) or the Coventry Farmer's Market (Sun) you can pick your vegetables! It's basically like a $12 organic shopping spree. We've gotten just about every kind of vegetable you could imagine and even some fruit. In addition to the usual stuff I was exposed to a number of things I had never cooked with before like Kohlrabi and Celeriac. Although I've never been to the farm itself I have heard from my co-worker (who I split a full share with and put me on to it in the first place) that it is gorgeous and a great trip for a Saturday morning.

First, it's much larger than you might think from the road. There are lots and lots of flowers, veggies and other garden items; no quarreling over the choices to be found here. And for the most part the staff has proven helpful. Mostly. Our main issue is over the prices -- this is not a shop for anyone operating on a budget. And in the spring of 2024, it's pretty expensive here to buy potting plants, perennials, hanging baskets, fertilizer, potting soil, vegetables and the like. You may legitimately argue over whether the likes of Home Depot and Lowes can match the quality here, but they certainly do better when it comes to pricing. Check it out -- you may disagree. But at least you have been cautioned.
