Kinderhook Toyota - Brand new 2024 RAV4 Hybrid. Thanks Brett!!

UPDATE: I went back in March 2024 and bought a brand new 2024 RAV4 Hybrid and I couldn't be happier…read morewith it. I once again sought Brett out to help me and just like last time, he was courteous, patient, and not pressuring at all. It took me a good two weeks to come to a decision, as this was a much bigger purchase than the last RAV4 I bought from him in 2017. We called and exchanged emails throughout those two weeks and he was patient with me all the way through. I got exactly what I wanted; model, trim level, and extra packages and accessories all at a fair price. I got a very fair price for my trade-in and the transaction was smooth as butter. I once again recommend anybody looking for a Toyota to visit Kinderhook Toyota for their needs. It's the only dealership I will buy cars from. Thanks Brett!

We are shopping for another vehicle. This dealership is not on our list…read more This is why: Several years ago, I brought my then two year old Toyota CPO vehicle in for service- an oil and filter change w/ tire rotation, as per the CPO maintenance agreement. The service manager, at the time, described to me how I must be mistaken and, further, that I had purchased a third-party warranty from the Toyota dealer who sold me the vehicle which Kinderhook Toyota could not possibly honor. He said all of this while looking at a 4' x 6' poster hung on the wall extolling the benefits of purchasing a Toyota CPO vehicle. Apparently he was, somehow, under the impression that only this particular dealership sold CPO vehicles... Toyota NA got him straightened out on this point, and I did proceed to have a couple services performed and did purchase parts/supplies over the next year or so. Those basic experiences were generally acceptable. At the mileage recommended by Toyota for coolant and transmission fluid services, I called to inquire if it was something Kinderhook Toyota could perform. Because I generally maintain my own vehicles, I like to know what somebody else will be doing to my vehicle when they service it. The new service manager had what can only be described as a meltdown in response to me asking him what these services consisted of in their shop. Expletives were invoked as he shouted that they hook it up to a machine which 'sucks out the old stuff and pushes in the new stuff', and why did I need to know. This is behavior I will not tolerate and certainly not reward monetarily. So, I went to another dealer, asked the very same question and received a detailed explanation given in a courteous and informative manner. Obviously, I chose to have that dealership perform the services. A positive customer service experience pays lasting dividends. I have subsequently purchased parts/supplies and have had one minor repair performed by them as well. We have avoided Kinderhook Toyota ever since. A negative customer service experience leaves an impression which lasts forever. My negative experiences at Kinderhook Toyota sprang immediately to mind when we begin discussing where to go vehicle shopping this time around.

As I was held at check-out inside the building, an unnamed woman with no identification confronted me in an accusatory manner demanding to know what else we had picked. I told her everything we picked was on the counter. She asked what was in my car. I told her my patient, his rollator, and his mobility scooter. Not much else fits in a little KIA. She left me inside the building at the register and went out to my car. With no explanation to my startled patient, she began rooting through my car. He was alone and felt defenseless in a frightening situation. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get him to leave his house again for an outing like this. He is traumatized. Columbia County NY has many PYO options that are more friendly and less terrifying than this horrible place.

I think the menu has expanded. There were salads that I could have ordered but when I read the description of their Rodeo Burger, I just had to have one: local beef with huge onion rings. provolone cheese, BBQ sauce and thick Applewood smoked bacon strips on a brioche bun. Wow. It was divine. It cost about $13 which might be a little steep for most burgers but this one was far from ordinary. The same goes for their boozy milk shakes which run about $10. I picked the "Top of the Mornin' ," which consisted of Colombian Coffee Ice Cream, Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, Irish Cream, iced coffee, whipped cream and fudge. That was every bit as amazing as the burger. However, I only drank half of my shake and gave the rest to my friend because I had to make sure I could drive home. We were both fine. Service was very good. I think it only took about 10-15 minutes to fill our orders. That's pretty remarkable when you see what's involved. It's a family-run operation and everyone there is nice including the young woman who took our order. The farm themed restaurant was very busy when we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner but plenty of customers were apparently in sync with our schedule. There've been some upgrades to the decor since I last visited a few years ago. It seems they've added a fireplace at one end of the restaurant and a large farm themed play area for kids on the opposite end. There's even a taproom. It's a clean, cozy, family-friendly eatery that serves up farm fresh food. I didn't realize that Del's has another location in Rhinebeck and a family dairy farm in Red Hook. Perhaps my roadtrips will take me there someday.

Eclectic upbeat music played in the background including light music from South America. They offer a wine list with sparkling, whites, and reds, selections from Spain, Italy, France, Portugal and Croatia. They also serve cocktails, and beer. The tapas menu looked interesting offering Brussel sprouts, tuna tartare, mushroom & squash toast, chicken liver mousse & garlic confit, just to name a few. I stopped by Isola late evening after driving all day to see the foliage. I sat up at the bar and was given a menu. For this posting, I stuck with food and got a glass of water. I picked out two small plates including the Sardine Toast ($15 plus tax) and Eggplant Caponata ($15 plus tax), which came out together in 10 minutes. Both plates were nicely presented. The Sardine Toast (2 pieces) served cold had sliced sardines with sundried tomatoes & whipped sweet ricotta on thin toast strips. The Eggplant Caponata served hot was comprised of chopped eggplant, tomato, peppers & pine nuts with a long slice of toasted buttery ciabatta bread. This was just enough food for a light meal. The check with Toast QR code was brought over which was $32.40 with tax and before tip. Overall, Isola seems like a great place for couples night out for wine and tapas. In my case, I needed some me time and I was able to sample some tasty plates.

The owner's love for the Italian islands shines through in the decor, ambiance, hospitable spirit of the staff and of course the food and wine selections. We tried almost everything on the menu - and I went back for a second ham and cheese croquette with a delightfully spicy pepper sauce. All of the food was perfectly prepared with creative and delicately balanced flavor combinations. My husband thought all the seafood dishes were fantastic and the chocolate torte for dessert paired with a bright sherry was amazing. The service was so upbeat and ontime, and the atmosphere, while cozy, quiet and intimate was also somehow bustling and we continually discussed dishes as they came out with the guests to either side. Highly recommend a side trip from anywhere to check this spot out!
