We receive a big ol' bag of veggies every other week from May-November and the price cannot be beat. The vegetables are organic and they're always super fresh and tasty. Every once in a while, you will have the option to add on a jar of honey or a special prepared food dish to your share and they will deliver it right to your office with your share. I've shopped around for other CSAs and find that the price of the Katchkie share is extremely affordable compared to other farms that will charge upwards of $700 per season. If you ever have any questions or concerns, the NYC-based staff that organizes the CSA program is friendly and responsive. For only $3, we got a dozen eggs from hens raised ethically and humanely. Tip: Call ahead to reserve your dozen for pickup, as they often run out. Owner Gordon was so very generous with his time. He let us visit the chickens, turkeys, and pigs. These pigs have the best life! I have never seen happier, cleaner, healthier pigs. Gordon and Denise also make a variety of homemade foods, such as jams and cheesecakes, available seasonally. We will stop by for those next time we are in the area!

We brought home milk and ice cream. When that ran out and we returned to our regular 'store bought' milk, I was like 'what am I drinking?' You don't know how good High Lawn Farms milk is, until you don't have it any more. If I lived near here, this is the only place I would get my dairy. Now, the ice cream! So, so, so good! It's not overly sweet. The flavor is just right. Again, not over done. It's 'light'. I don't know how to explain it. I got two scoops and when I saw how much ice cream that was I thought I'd 'never be able to eat all that.' But the ice cream texture is light, not heavy. It's still creamy, but not in the same way as my local farm made ice cream is made. It's light and those two scoops were just the right amount. The store offers more than milk and ice cream by the pint. They also sell a selection of High Lawn farm cheeses and frozen cuts of beef among other things. Besides the store and the ice cream trailer, you can visit the cows and calves in the barn. There are also older calves in the field by the ice cream trailer that you can pet. They come right up to the fence looking for pets. Anyway, you can see I am a fan of High Lawn Farm. Go. Don't think about it. Go. Get the ice cream. Get the milk. Compare it to your 'regular' dairy. Once I got a truck, I found myself coming here several times a week to purchase mulch, driveway mix, gravel, compost, topsoil. They also sell chainsaws, weedwackers, and leaf blowers (they are official Stihl, Husqvarna, and Echo dealers). The mulch, compost, and top soil I picked up from them was great quality! The best I have seen from anywhere! Even better, their prices are great and they deliver! The customer service is great! I've worked the most with, Alex and Jen, if I arrive at 7:01am or 4:55pm they are always fast, pleasant, courteous, and professional. The staff has been super knowledgeable about their products. When I went in to look at a new chainsaw Alex asked me a bunch of questions to better understand my needs before making recommendations. (The prices were very competitive to what I've seen at big box stores.) I had them repair my weedwacker, they did the work quickly (called me to let me know it was ready) and it works better than ever. FYI, it seems like they repair pretty much everything, sharpen chainsaw blades, and work on lawn mowers and tractors.

Here is a tip -- if you have the time -- go to both this market and the one in Lanesboro at the Berkshire Mall. They are at the same time and are only a few miles apart. The difference is that most of the Lanesboro vendors get their produce from the Pioneer Valley (Springfield / Northhampton / Amherst region). Their growing season is a little different. So, sometimes you will find fresh strawberries in one market and fresh blueberries in the other.
