I just hope that nobody else is dealing with this with their child or family member that comes here. Plotting kids with special needs against each other is NOT the way to represent your work place.

My son has special needs and developmental delay and I'm so comfortable leaving him here. He even waves "bye" to me now when I drop him off so I guess he's comfortable too! They have a great shaded playground and do a lot of outdoor play. Nothing but good things to say about the Early Education Center.

This was all gathered from my first impression with Ms. Chan when the child of my close friend had their first visit. It wasn't until the follow-up visits that I saw the consistency in her care that I decided to write this review, cos when it comes to wellness you do not want to recommend the wrong people to others. A great plus is that the grandparent was able to come along for the next visit and understood what was going on with their grandchild cos Ms. Chan aside from English also speaks Cantonese, Mandarin and surprisingly Chiu Chow too! Aside from mental health, during my waits I noticed Ms. Chan also provides services for education as well, from advocacy to assessments. The visits so far have been great, my friend's child is in a comfort zone with Ms. Chan and is helping my friend better understand her child's case on hand. However it's not just toddlers or teens only, I've seen families and couples visit too!

A close friend of mine had suggested I meet with a therapist to alleviate my worries. At first, I was hesitant of the idea as it's often uncomfortable to tell a stranger your personal thoughts and feelings about your life, but all the uncertainty disappeared after my initial telehealth session with Dr. Chan. Dr. Chan was not only caring and knowledgeable, but she gave very thoughtful feedback and suggestions on how to implement little practices into my daily routines and tasks that were triggering my anxiety. With a very relaxed demeanor, our sessions felt more like a friend just being there for me through these hard times. The conversations just flowed naturally, and Dr. Chan remembered every little detail I mentioned as if she had known me a long time. With just a few sessions, I feel a lot more calm with her advice. I'm viewing the obstacles that life throws at us as opportunities to grow instead of fearing them. The idea of therapy sessions initially seemed scary, but I highly recommend anyone that had similar hesitations to meet with Dr. Chan, as I had a very uplifting and positive experience.

This program is meant for lazy young moms that have nothing going for themselves! I have a family member with disabilities, I was rescheduled on by Jessica (the manager) then she was very late to our meeting due to over sleeping. No questions were really answered, she just kept saying it's person centered planning and they pick everything. They have goals that make no sense and are never met, it sounds like they just take the bus to the library or mall. Jessica spoke in a very condescending way about her own staff and came across and very pandering despite not answering any questions. She gave us a tour and there was a client in the office screaming at staff about the candy dish in dirty clothes and Jessica just smiled. I just don't understand the program other than her claiming they do absolutely everything. Finally, by pure luck I saw this program in the community at the library and the group was with this same manager. I was only there for 10 minutes but I did not see this manager look up from her phone the entire time or even speak to the clients. The clients were just looking at books on their own. I don't get this program or what the end goal is other than it's really expensive. Go check it out and see for yourself

Tickets are around $400 to the fundraiser but it goes to a wonderful cause and is so fun, with music food drink and socialization. This is such a great organization doing such great work.

North Los Angeles Regional Center assigned Optima Family Services for my son who has a speech…read moredelay. Melissa Ahamad, (SLPA) started working with my son when he was at 15 months old my son cannot say anything other than Mama and Papa. Fastforward to today, he is now 2years old and has over 80 words though not perfectly pronounced but still a big big improvement from how he was before. We started with sign languages then to minimal words. He hits himself when he cannot express his emotions, so when he started to use and understand the word NO, hitting was gone. It's such a relief. Kids express themselves better through language. At the end of each session, Melissa would give me recommendations for me to continue what she's doing with my son. Goals are set at each period and we try to meet them, e.g. follow steps, identify 5 objects, action words etc. At 2 years old, NLARC added another therapy for my son which is Child Development Services/ Infant Stimulation Therapy. Ernesto is my son's therapist for this service. He is also great! I have lots of questions regarding my son's behavior and development and he answers them patiently and explain everything to me, he even brought a book as reference for our topic. Their Supervisor Dara is also awesome! She evaluates my son's progress and works/plays with him well even though she's technically a stranger for him cos he has only seen him twice but she got my son to play with him unlike the other evaluator who would just stop trying just because he's shy. The office is so easy to contact, whenever I ask for paperwork they would easily send it to me! I love Optima Family Services, Keep it up! You help lots of kids and families.

The quality of his instruction was easy to follow and understand. Cost was free since my workplace provided me with a voucher and the book which is needed for class. The room was small, but big enough to practice CPR on the adult and baby mannequins. Test was easy as long as you took good notes and listened during class. Parking in the back of the building is free. Restroom is clean. Free coffee, water, and snacks!! I highly recommend this place/class.

We struggled significantly with our child's IEP and educational needs. By the time we met…read moreMichelle, I had spent thousands of dollars on non-attorney IEP advocates. The advocates we hired were good and supported us in our IEP journey, but we never ended up with an IEP substantially better than we started with. Even the smallest gains in the IEP were prefaced by multiple, sometimes painful IEP meetings with many overt and covert reminders that compromises inevitably had to be made. These compromises were made at the expense of substantially underserving my neurodiverse child's learning, social, and emotional needs. My husband and I debated whether shelling out more money for an attorney would be worth it. Parents may not know that there isn't a standardized, licensing, or credentialing administrative agency that oversees IEP advocacy accreditation. You can call yourself an "IEP advocate" without any overseeing administrative agency, competency exam, or experience needed to begin your business. That said, there are many excellent, wonderful non-attorney IEP advocates. However, there isn't a standardized accreditation process and though we hired multiple strong IEP advocates, none were able to make the substantial, dramatic gains in our kid's IEP that Michelle accomplished. In the end-I consulted with 4 IEP attorneys and 8 non-attorney advocates in two school districts. Among the attorneys we consulted with-Michelle had among the most reasonable rates. Moreover, attorneys differ in their approach in how heavy-handed they are with district personnel. Michelle is a team player-she is very respectful, humble, and collaborative when dealing with school personnel. Moreover, she is very honest about your odds of winning something in due process & the high costs to parents (emotional, time-wise, and financial) with regards to litigation against a school district. She is firm when she needs to be-but it is delivered with the right degree of both strength & tenderness, collaboration and clarity/power in advocating for her client's needs-that is an art that is not always taught or intuitive to attorneys or non-attorneys. Michelle's ability to work with others even as she strongly advocates for her clients is remarkable to watch-she knows when to pick a battle, gently/indirectly showcase when procedural (or substantive) violations may have been made-without going on full attack mode, but still making her points and agenda abundantly clear. We plan on working with Michelle for years on end. I am not letting go of this gem we found. We finally found an ally who has an incredible mastery of assessments (her knowledge of every assessment, from phonemic understanding, to behavioral assessments, to visual/auditory processing, etc.) that the school staff administered completely blew us away), her understanding of even fine details related to evidence-based curriculum/pedagogy for disparate learning disabilities (ask her questions about dyslexia-you'll be amazed by her content knowledge), autism/ADHD, and sensory-related needs for neurodiverse learners is incredible. I am amazed by Michelle. She is an outstanding IEP advocate, attorney, and has a personal understanding of the journey as a parent of children with disparate special needs. My kid is finally getting an IEP that is truly individualized to her unique learning-related needs. I finally sat through an IEP meeting without holding back tears-because we were finally being heard through the support of an exceptional, singularly gifted and compassionate advocate & attorney. Don't hesitate. She's the absolute best.
