Lifesaver education pen

I was on vacation while the hospital I work for had the BLS renewal class. Of course I waited until the last minute to renew. After contacting numerous training centers the lady who answered the phone sorry forgot her name was super informative and friendly. I took the class today and ZACH was awesome! He was energetic and friendly and when he caught a mistake he was super polite and constructive and corrected by demonstrating how to do it properly. All equipment was sanitized right after use super clean and definitely recommend anyone in need of training. P.s you get to keep the pen! us in nursing can never have enough pens!!!

Learning CPR with an AED

My BLS class with Zach was awesome. We were all focus on what we needed to know and he also made it fun too so it wouldn't be too serious. He answered all questions and made sure everyone was doing everything right. So thank you so much Zach. You are greatly appreciated I would totally recommend anyone coming here to get their CPR certification. Literally received my CPR card same day via email. It was a great experience.

Surefire CPR cancellation policy

Somehow I erased my original review as I tried to update it today. Customer service for LifeSaver has now been farmed out to a multistate company called Cascade Training. They are in the middle of merging with Cascade. Cascade operates in several states. I signed up for in person HCP BLS a and the first time I had to cancel about 60 hours in advance (well within their 48 hr window) I am an RN a and had a sore throat and had been treating COVID patients. To avoid potentially exposing anyone in class to COVID I decided to reschedule. They do not allow refunds FOR ANY REASON). I called the call center and they allowed me to rebook. I had to cancel about a day and a half in advance because my new employer changed the day I had to do some pre employment testing. The woman said she would give me one last credit. Called the call center when I was ready to schedule for the final time. She said there was no note in my account to this effect. She said she would to contact the local S Pasadena CA office. She had me on hold for about ten minutes. Never once came back to the line to let me know what she was doing. My call after all that time was rerouted to their annoying and impersonal phone tree. Comical at this point. Finally someone from the local office called me and said they could see the notes about the last person saying I could reschedule one last time. The local person said the call center didn't have access to this??? I attended the BLS class and the instructor was kind and funny and I learned a lot. I was a bit taken aback though because she said she has been teaching since the 90s I believe and when asked she said had only performed CPR once on a human. She was a lifeguard. After this I had to take a Hospital Fire Safety class. I took it online at Surefire CPR which allows refunds and they have an excellent customer service team. They only have locations in S Cal only. The day of the class I had difficulty downloading the latest version of Zoom and their customer service line was available in like a minute and walked me through it and I was able to join the class. The woman explained they are always available for customer support during online classes. Their much more lenient cancellation policy is attached. Also, their staff/teachers consist of first responders and healthcare professionals only. Though the instructor at Cascade was nice and seemed knowledgeable I think I would have learned more from someone who had to do CPR more than once on a human.

Easy to schedule and pay. Class was quick but thorough. Recommend for anyone looking to get their CPR/BLS certificate. Reasonable price.

Ask the Community - Lifesaver Education

How long is the PALS renewal in person class?

It depends upon the size of the class, and PALS renewal classes are generally small. We tell students to allow for 8 hours, though it often does not take that long.

How long is the in person BLS renewal class?

Approximately 3 hours.

How long are the class for BLS?

6 hours

Is the BLS program only open for current healthcare workers or is it open to the general public as well?

Hi Daniela. Anyone may take the BLS program. We frequently have students taking this class who are not in a healthcare profession. It is specified for healthcare workers because those working in a healthcare setting must take this course.

Is there a list of what days each instructor teaches?

Hi Yajaira. I apologize for the delay in responding to your question. We do not post instructor names on our website. However, if you call the office at 626-441-3406, they will know who is teaching each class and can help you find a class that… Read more

Was the textbook needed for the BLS class?

The American Heart Association requires that each student has access to the textbook before, during, and after the class.

Do we purchase the masks prior to class or are they provided?

The masks available to purchase on the website are for you to use in emergency situations (outside of class). During class, masks are provided to you for practice but are kept at our facility.

Silly incompetent bureaucrats with their heads stuffed where the sun never shines…read more It used to function -barely. In spite of having dozens of hard working creative professionals on contract - (meaning they dont pay them, provide no benefits, and almost no administrative support) they manage to destroy successful community programs they didn't have to lift a finger to create. You show up to your program you paid for weeks in advance to find a private party instead. Absolutely no respect for their customers or contractors. Double booked facilities, malfunctioning enrollment system, inaccurate information, you name it, they can f it up.

We called South Pas to ask what their classes were like and were assured that children not only pick up new skills, but they leave class tired and ready for some quiet time. Awesome. We decided to sign up for two classes based on the recommendation of the rec department. The course we recently attended was Mini Sports Blitz. "45 minutes of games and activities" says the catalog, except for one major problem...the children are active for maybe 5 to 7 minutes each 45 minute session. What does this mean? That the kids wait in ridiculous lines or take turns 1 at a time to participate (recent example: about 15 kids waited 15 minutes to use a bat once on a t-ball stand. They were instructed on how to hit the ball, and run around the bases. There was 1 bat and 1 stand.) So what do the other kids do while they wait so long? Stand around, play with mom or dad, sit, take off, some parents play catch with another ball, go to the playground nearby - for 15 minutes! That's an awfully long time as an adult to wait, and we're talking 2 to 3 year olds...such a waste. While the instructor, Andy, seems nice, he's not volunteering his services. He hardly seems to understand a toddler's developmental needs in a group setting and how the kids should be active most of the class time - he could easily break up the kids into smaller groups, bring in more equipment, or just in case he has to make do with the what he already has, concurrently work on two or more different activities in different areas, and recruit help from all the parents that otherwise stand around doing very little. Cost: $50 for 4 classes. What does this break down to? About $2 per minute of activity. My massages are cheaper! Eek indeed! Is it possible for Andy to reflect on his instruction and notice that the only person moving around and talking the entire time is him? Remember though, this is the 2nd class through SP Rec Services, and similarly low skilled instructors keep the kids active for 10% of the time for the same reason. This is apparently an issue that needs to be addressed within the department either by going to the classes to observe and see how much activity on the kids part is actually taking place, or with a parent survey that addresses this area specifically. Otherwise, this is as good as it gets in South Pas and you'd be better off driving further out to enroll for classes in Arcadia or San Marino, or even to the closest park near you, for free.
