He started attending Nido when he was around 9 months old and is building so many life skills such as independence (eating with a spoon or fork, drinking from a cup without even spilling, listening and doing simple commands like putting something away, picking something up, closing the door, etc.) I also noticed his concentration when he's playing with things at home or when we're at the dining table. I could go on and on about the things I notice him doing since starting at Nido. My son loves going to school each day and he adores his Montessori guide, Ms. Maria. She is very attentive and I appreciate that she really observes each child. She communicates well and her school is a true Montessori environment. She is always available whenever we have any questions. I definitely learn so much from her as I try to incorporate more of the Montessori philosophy at home and as a parent. She always emphasizes how she's there to work together with the parents for the child to benefit the most. We wished we could've start our first child with the Montessori philosophy earlier on because I can see how beneficial it is in life. I don't feel like I drop off my son to a "daycare". It's a Montessori school where the children "work", learn, and have fun.

We gave it some time, and she just wasn't adjusting like she should have so we made the decision to pull her out on a Thursday. My daughter started with Ms. Maria the following Monday part time and it only took her a few days to adjust, by Thursday she was already staying longer and was saying "I want to go to my new school" as soon as she woke up. Maria really knows and believes in the Montessori philosophy. She truly cares about the children and their well being. If you are looking for a true Montessori for your child, Maria is one of the few environments around who will give you that experience. It will be the best decision you make for your child.

We had a choice to make whether we wanted to continue on, meaning a much longer commute and many more hours each day away from our little ones so they could attend the other campus in Monterey park. We made the right decision to stay with Meher. The school went above an beyond to wrap around its impacted families during this crisis. When we were displaced we were even invited into a zoom class room so the kids could stay connected to their classmates. They did not fall behind, and had a loving environment to return to when we came home. We trust their approach to normal misbehavior and conflict between kids, and the kids trust that when they are there their needs are met. The structure is comforting for them and the lessons engaging. We love that the school has a loving and professional approach to child development. We feel there is a real investment in our kids learning how to do things on their own, which we have noticed contributes to their confidence and eagerness to discover and learn. The teaching staff is well versed and continuously learning how to be great teachers. It is not "childcare" it is truly school in a way that sets the kids up for confidence and success. We feel lucky to be part of this community and after looking at other options, are clear this is the right place for our little ones.

They communicate school events well via a board when you sign in and also via digital platforms, and keep parents in the know of any issues. The facility is clean and safe.

Their communication was open and transparent. I appreciated all the time the teachers and staff took to work with me when I had a question or gave a suggestion. They listened intently and did so with such care, grace and humility. My child looked forward to going to school daily and enjoyed all the activities the teachers planned in the classroom. As parents, we loved attending the school field trips, holiday programs and weekly chapel times. We appreciate the community MPCS has built for the families. It warms my heart to know that the friendships my kiddo made in class has transferred over to the TK environment, where there are 2 other MPCS graduates in the same class! MPCS is a true gem! The staff is dedicated and invested in the well-being and growth of each child, fostering both emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. It's a place where both parents and kids can feel confident and cared for every day.

I seriously wish I had found this place sooner…read more My daughter has had a roller coaster experience with 2 local preschools, and my heart seriously couldn't take it anymore. If you see my previous reviews, you can follow the drama unfold about how my daughter was neglected by 2 schools and how they did not care about the danger a student abusing kids and staff brought and turned a blind eye. When I came to Happy Day's doorstep, I was desperate to put my daughter somewhere for the remainder of the year + summer. I expressed my concerns. I spoke with Hunter and Mrs Pam, and they both listened and had sympathy for both me and my daughter. They allowed her to play and come back to play every day until I made up my mind, but I was already sold. They allowed me to bring her multiple times before her start date so she can transition well, and I was so thankful about that. Mrs Pam and Hunter speak to you with so much passion. You almost forget that this is a paid service. Mrs Pam pours her heart and soul into this place, and it really shows. My daughter has been here for 5 months now and has flourished soo much!!! Honestly, she loves this place. When she went to Angel's, she hated it. She didnt want to go to school and fought it whenever she could. My daughter used to love going to school to play with her friends and to learn. She used to love coming home and telling us all she learned, it hurt when she lost her love for school. To see the love for school return when she started at Happy Day honestly made me feel like a bad parent because I wasted my time and money at a school soo cold and distant just to end up pulling her out. She got sent home from Happy Day once for a fever or something. She took a nap and when she woke up she put her clothes on and said "I'm ready to go back to school" problem was, it was 6pm and school was over. She threw a fit. The staff at Happy Day is so warm and loving, they show affection towards the children and are welcoming towards parents. My daughter has learned more and is more proud of her accomplishments now at Happy Day than she has ever been. I honestly feel as though Happy Day has prepared her for her transition to school and for life. The balance between play and learning is perfect in my opinion, and to see her happy to learn and proud of what she's learning makes me so happy. When the swimming lessons opened up, you bet your butt I enrolled my little girl. From not knowing how to swim, Mrs Pam and her team transformed my little girl into a little mermaid!!!! She constantly talks about what she's doing in the pool and how she wants to go swimming all the time. Not only that, they are on top of sicknesses and with the exception of ONE time in the matter of 5-6 months, she has not brought a sickness home from school. Absolutely amazing as she brought home a nasty virus 2x in a month at her previous school. I know that they sold the property and are looking for a new location, but do not let that detour you like it did for me. I simply can not put into words how much we love Happy Day. We have gone through 3 schools and I can whole heartily say we have finally found a school that exceeds our requirements and are madly in love with. Do I recommend this school? Yes. With our whole heart and soul, YES. Happy Day is the best value around. Happy Day isn't a school.. it's a family. We are so thankful for this institution and hope you join the family too.

Logistics: - They're open till 6pm!…read more- Little Sunshine is split into 3 classes based on age/readiness: Class A (3.5-5yo), Class B (3-4yo), and Class C (2-3yo). Classrooms have the appropriate mandated headcount (usually at least 2 teachers, plus admin staff who drop in as needed). - There's an optional lunch program. - Tuition is reasonable - parents can pay monthly or by number of expected days for upcoming month, and there are discounts for siblings. - They use the Brightwheel app to provide real-time updates, photos, and to communicate with parents throughout the day - Their Mandarin program is awesome (and no additional $$$). As a plus, there is also some Spanish taught in Class B and C (depending on teacher availability). - No nuts policy (helpful, because my son is allergic to peanuts). - Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your beliefs), the school is "Christian," which means the kids learn Bible songs (we're not Christian) and say a short grace at lunchtime. I for some reason wasn't aware of this until my son came home saying that his favorite song was "Jesus Loves Me." Outside of this, religion does not feature too heavily in the curriculum. Background: My son, who is about to turn 4yo, started here in May'24 in Class C at 2.5yo, moved to Class B at 3yo years, and then just "graduated" to Class A. Each of the three classes have wonderful teachers who are committed to teaching the kids and helping them grow at their own pace. In terms of curriculum, there's arts and crafts, physical play (playground outside), outside exploration (gardening, etc.), and classroom learning (counting, reading, singing, etc.). School supplies are included in tuition, and the teachers and administrators host fun events (i.e. a Mother's Day tea/breakfast, Easter egg hunts, Halloween Trick-or-Treat, Christmas celebration, or annual graduation) where the kids have activities or perform for the parents. The teachers seem to really drive the classroom curriculum, and they are all so skilled at thinking of creative activities for the kids. The only negatives are related to the administrators and management - they exhibit occasional off-putting behavior, and my impression is that they're somewhat disorganized in their communication with parents and cohesiveness with the teachers. A couple of examples: 1. The day that my son was to start daycare here, Director Sandy was wholly unprepared. We had been in communication the week prior and even had messaged the Friday prior to confirm that we were going to do drop-off for the first day of school and pay tuition via check. At drop-off, my son was screaming/bawling (because of course, it's his first day, and he was only 2.5yo). Sandy asked us if we can start the following week instead, because they apparently had another new student starting that day and "it would be hard." When I told her that was not possible, because we had work and other commitments, Sandy's reply to me was "I'm just thinking what's best for the kids." I was quite unhappy with this statement. Luckily, Denise was there and said that they would honor our agreement. But to even have this conversation was just ridiculously frustrating and tainted my initial impression of Little Sunshine and the Director. 2. When Bennett turned 3, he was held back for a month and a half in Class C. We wanted to move him to Class B alongside his friend whose birthday was the following month, but we were told that our son wasn't "ready". This was surprising to us, because he seemed ready academically and emotionally. Our understanding was that a transition would be easier if he didn't have to do it alone. After much back-and-forth with the teachers and admins, he moved to Class B a month after his friend moved. I suspect that the actual reason was that they didn't have space for an additional student in Class B (his friends' parents had asked about graduating to Class B two months earlier), and they had to wait until there was a space before they could move him. 3. Little Sunshine was closing for their annual teacher development day, which is awesome. What was not awesome was telling parents 7 business days before it was scheduled to occur, which is insufficient notice for parents to find other care arrangements for when school was closed. Enough parents were upset about this short notice and contacted Little Sunshine about it, so they moved it to the following week so that we could have a two week notice. My comment was that if this were an annual event, they would be more organized and have it scheduled/communicated earlier. Overall: The Little Sunshine community is strong - we all want the best for our kids, and I really believe that it is the best in the area. It's not merely a daycare - it's a preschool where the kids learn so much and make friends. My son loves going to school so much now and gets so excited at drop-off that he occasionally forgets to give me a goodbye hug and kiss!

The review is based off the tour I had. I was initially drawn to this preschool because of their…read morebilingual program, which led me to schedule a tour. The manager was very nice and friendly, providing detailed information before we toured the classrooms. However, during our conversation outside the classrooms, the director unexpectedly came out from one of the rooms and poured water from her thermos onto the floor--without introducing herself. I found this quite awkward. Even if someone is used to doing this elsewhere, it's not appropriate to do it in front of prospective parents. There were three classrooms, but they were not the cleanest and seemed generally disorganized. I also noticed that the teachers allowed the children to watch TV before naptime, which I am honestly not a fan of. At the end of the tour, the director finally came out to introduce herself, and something awkward happened. I was holding two pamphlets--one originally given to me and one to my husband. The director took one pamphlet from me and began giving me more information, then spoke to the manager in Mandarin about why I was given two pamphlets instead of one. (I understood perfectly well, though she probably thought I wouldn't.) She then took one pamphlet away from me. One pamphlet is just a piece of paper--so taking one away felt unnecessary. I found this both weird and funny. It's odd to behave this way in front of parents. How much does a pamphlet really cost? To me, this behavior seemed rude and frugal. No matter how great the teachers are (which the director kept emphasizing), at such a young age, I want my child to learn respect and politeness first--academic skills come after. Little things matter. If the director herself struggles to exhibit proper manners, it's a definite no for me.
