I was in the neighborhood and my pair of SEE eyeglasses kept slipping down my nose so I walked-in and asked if someone could adjust them. The guy said "no problem," took my glasses and somehow fixed them. He even noticed that each temple piece (the part of the frame that extends over the ear to keep the glasses in place) was loose so he tightened each side as well. As I put them back in the case, I noticed that the case did not fully shut. I asked him if it was okay for me to force it shut and he said that was not a good idea and proceeded to find an appropriate sized case to give me. Great customer service! Love the frames here and most of the staff. There is one staff member that is not quite as warm or nice as all the others- you know who you are. He doesn't greet when you walk in, he gave another customer the chair that I was clearly sitting at trying on frames with all my belongs on the table...WTF!even though the store had other seats and no other customers. Has even been curt at times. If I don't go back he's the reason. I do love the store and the frames and I do get good and courteous service. It's just that one apple. :) read more

Columbus Avenue location: The doctor is okay but the salesperson we worked with tried to rip us off. I have VSP and before we made our appointments as a family, I called to ask if they were part of VSP. The person I spoke with said yes, they accepted VSP. This is the tricky part: just because they "accept" VSP doesn't mean they are PART of the network. After our eye exams, the salesperson handed me the bill and it was $145 for the 3 of us. I was shocked because our copay should have only been $10 each = $30 in total. When I asked why the bill was excessive since they were part of VSP, he cut me off and said See has never been part of VSP. By then it was too late, as services were already rendered and I had to pay them out of my own pocket, even though I have great vision insurance and could have gone to much better providers within the network. Potential customers: always ask if this place is PART of your insurance network before you go. These people have no problem lying and tricking you to get your business. read more

All of a sudden my eyesight started to change and I made an emergency appointment to see the optometrist. They were able to see me the next day. Which was good. The team at See was thorough and kind. Although the optometrist referred me to my doctor for a check up it was a good visit. Long story short...all was normal from my doctor...it appears that I am "aging." Whodathunk? I purchased a cool pair of glasses to help with my distant sight and now everything is in HD. Glad I went to See...they are good people and regardless if you are in a fright or just in need of a new pair of spectacles, I recommend that you go. read more

My wife and I have been customers since 2012. We've always been extremely satisfied with the glasses and contacts we've received. The eye exams have been thorough and always resulted in accurate prescriptions. Their selection of frames is wide and we've never had a problem finding something that looked and felt great. Being regular customers, we've mainly dealt with Jason (the manager), who has always offered a level of customer service that I've never experienced in any other eyewear store. Jason knows our preferences and always recommends the perfect frame. He also seems to know our insurance policy better than we do and always finds ways to maximize our benefits. In short, we've always felt like we were in good hands with Jason and his team. They care about our satisfaction and take care of us. There are many eyewear stores in that area but we never even think about going anywhere but See. High recommended. read more

I went into the soho Location back in march i felt a little swindled they do Move so fast with the billing that I didn't even realize that i was getting 2 pair glasses bc my insurance covers 2 pair a year. But whatever i don't have the time or energy to make another visit. Fast forward less then a week the city went into a shut down, fast forward 2 months later last week I reached out To the company via Instagram about my glasses. According to Instagram they have pick up at some Locations and are mailing items as well. I would think if i have glasses paid for thats sitting for 2 months i would be prioritized with some kind of urgency. When I reached out via Instagram they Told me to email corporate. I emailed corporate the same day, 5 Days later i still haven't had a response. My insurance has been charged for 2 pair glasses, I paid $285 out of pocket, i have no glasses, and no Response from the company. I cant go to another eye glass place bc they used both of my eye exam allowance For the year. The place is cute and the staff makes u feel like you're shopping at berdoff Goodman but the doctor wasn't much to be desired, she tried to sale Me some eye solution, and their responses To my concerns is lack luster. I just want my Glasses! Update the social media specialist reached out to me we have been speaking all weekend via IG. She/he told me the store will be open Monday and they can arrange for the manager to call me or I can call myself. So let's see what really happens. I'm grateful for the social media specialists, i still haven't heard from corporate and we are going on the second week. So buyer beware when doing business with this company. I know we are in a pandemic but all other companies had procedures in place to handle these situations and for their consumers to contact them except this company. read more

WONDERFUL SERVICE HERE. i arrived at a quarter after 5, knowing that the store closed a 6 pm, with a get-new-eyeglasses emergency. the woman who assisted me, Nancy Sheil, was patient, kind, generous, thorough, resourceful, effective, and listened to my story about how i came to have my emergency. that calmed me down. she stayed with me until 6:35pm and, i think, would have stayed longer. she was as patient and resourceful at the end as at the beginning. she offered to take measurements for my glasses and took multiple pictures of me so that i could send them to family members to help me to decide. i could not have asked for more or better service. the other two people working in the store (one is named Ambrosia but i didn't get the young man's name) were also wonderful. they cooperated so nicely between the three of them. they kept bringing their ideas to the table for me to try. thank you also for having tables and chairs to sit in for greater relaxation and thank you for having the hand mirrors for distance and far. i have never encountered those before in any eyewear store i've visited. My mother and I walked by this place on our way elsewhere and thought we'd stop in to see if they could replace the nose pad that broke in half on my moms glasses. We were greeted pretty quickly even though the two men closest to the front were with other customers. I think they didn't realize we needed assistance but after a couple minutes of standing somewhat aimlessly they asked if we needed help and when my mom told them what she needed, a lady with a sleek crop haircut who'd been sitting farther back offered to replace both nose pads so they were matching. We enjoyed the wide variety and creative display of glasses and sunglasses while we waited. The lady (whose name we didn't get, regretfully) quickly fixed the glasses and returned them to my mom in a new, suede case with a nice lens cleaning cloth inside. My mom asked what she owed and the lady kindly told us it was all free of charge!! My mom tried to pay her but she insisted we didn't need to, despite the great products and service she gave us. Next time either of us is in search of a glasses product I can confidently say we'll come back to SEE! read more

I love the funky glasses at See Eyewear but was a little saddened by the lack of professionalism shown to me when i went to this location to purchase some new eyewear. I was warmly greeted and invited to look around while the sales associate was wrapping up with a customer. I began to look around and that's when i was approached by Billie who offered to help me. I described what i wanted and she kept bringing glasses to me that were far from what i described. I found a pair that i loved and she questioned the shape and size of the frames as if she was silently telling me that they looked bad on me. I had plenty of questions but she walked away several times to speak to and help incoming guests before her coworkers could get to them and shot those same coworker a "look" when they began answering my questions. I wanted to just leave that place but i was assured that the frames i wanted were the very last ones. When i was ready to check out, i gave her an online coupon that they kindly honored but she upgraded my lenses without asking or telling me first. Luckily for me, they have a NO REFUNDS policy so I saved NO money. I left feeling shaken down and very unhappy. read more

They customer service isn't terrible and they are pretty good about scheduling appointments, but my beef is with the eye doc. I saw several of them to figure out my contact prescription. I went on 5 different occasions and each time my prescription was wrong. It took awhile to order the trial contacts and they were always blurry. One of the doctors claimed it was because my eyes were swollen. Another said it was because I was wearing glasses for too long and I just wasn't used to contacts. Another said I didn't sleep enough. I finally just accepted that I paid $150 for a giant headache and decided to go somewhere else. read more

I didn't know it was possible to have an awful eyeglass experience until I went to See. The sell inexpensive frames. That is their goal. They had no concern for the fact that I could not see out of the glasses they made for me. I was told that they had '30 years of optician experience between them.' In other words; they were right and I was at fault for not being able to see. They replaced the lenses (after much urging on my part.) The replacement made no difference and they have no interest in correcting the problem. I'm been wearing glasses for decades and have never had a negative experience before. Perhaps I'm just lucky? If you're looking for inexpensive non-perscription sunglasses this is a good store for you. If you have any vision issues stay away from this chain. read more

Jason managed to find the required parts in the store, without having to order them, and like a surgeon worked on them until they were like new. This place is freaking awesome! I was there for grand total of 45 min. I got my eye exam and 2 of the coolest frames I've ever had. I will never go back to stinking Lens Crafters. I use to be a label whore with eyewear, no longer my friends, no longer. The frames I got were $159/ea and fit my face perfectly. Nancy was super cool. I'm glad to see that other folks have had similarly unethical, disrespectful experiences at SEE. The sales clerks were helpful until it came to calculating costs - then they snuck in hundreds of dollars of extra costs and bullied me when I tried to advocate for myself. I ended up buying the glasses, but in hind sight I definitely wouldn't go back. I went in excited because I just got eye insurance through my school and happily presented my card to the sales clerk. She looked it up while I picked out the perfect pair. She tallied up the price and it ended up being $100 MORE expensive than the listed price - and that was with the insurance. She told me they had a policy that they tacked on an additional $100 when using any kind of insurance and had (without my permission) added in all kinds of extras that had pushed the price up. I asked why she hadn't mentioned all of these things beforehand and said I couldn't afford the glasses at that price. That was when she offered me a coupon. So I ended up not using my insurance at all and getting a decent price on the glasses, but the whole encounter took over an hour and I was really stressed out afterwards. OVERALL: NOT A GOOD SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. I felt like they were out to get me. The sales clerk seemed like she felt kind of bad that she was being unclear and ripping me off, but her manager was just plain rude. UGH. They might have cute inventory, but BEWARE. read more

This is not a failure on the staff of SEE but a failure on the inept lab they use to do the transition tinting on my bifocals. I have had "crazing" twice which essentially looks like Brillo was rubbed across both lenses. This happened each time after about 3 months of use. ONLY explanation I got was they had difficulty with the curvature of the lens during processing. NEVER had that problem with any glasses I have owned before going to SEE. They covered the cost twice and twice I was without my glasses. Thank goodness I had an old pair without that problem from another store. BEWARE before purchasing transitions from this company.they say if it happens again it just be my fault.!!! read more

Glasses can cost, like, as much as a car these days, so if you wear them even to find your way across your own bedroom like prior reviewer mark s (ok, or me), picking new frames is a Major Life Decision. Then you need SEE Eyewear and believe you me, you need Caitlin at SEE. Caitlin (whose real name, she revealed under my nosy questioning, is Katalin but she doesn't want to oblige you to try to pronounce it in Hungarian) is an optical rock star. She helped me try on every conceivable frame in the store, and gave useful, detailed advice about which ones looked good and why. Then she warned me against certain frames because they wouldn't work best with my prescription. She didn't make me feel silly or vain, she just steered me to the frames that were "best cosmetically, and best optically." I've never before found an optician who was so good at both the fashion part and the technical part. Even though there is a SEE in DC where I live, I would go back to NY to buy glasses from Caitlin. And the prices were so much better at SEE that I could buy two pairs of prescription glasses for about $200 more than what one pair would cost at another top-quality optical shop. read more

My opinion of SEE is worse than before if that is possible.Since I left the store without their merchandise,I made a dispute with AMEX. SEE states that I am in possession of all of the purchased merchandise which is an outright lie.As previously stated I received my own old frames without their lens,one with reading lens.This is like going to an orthopedic surgeon unable to ambulate, being told that you can walk charging you for X-rays,brace and crutches that you never had.Disgraceful!!! read more

Just ordered a replacement pair of glasses over the phone today. This is my second order with See on Columbus UWS. As with my first time ordering in the shop, both experiences were wonderful. Very nice choice of glasses, very courteous, professional staff. Although a bit over due, my experience 4 years ago at the same shop was also great. I've been going to see at Columbus Ave for over 7 years without issue. I made an appointment I needed to reschedule because I was exposed to COVID19. I called the store several times with no luck, so I sent an email and got a response from Mr. Espinosa. When he called I was on another phone trying to coordinate employee testing, patient notification etc. I can back on the phone explained 3 times why I needed reschedule because although Mr. Espinosa heard me he wasn't listening as evidenced by the fact that he asked would I like to come in later, to which I commented 500k died from COVID19, you still want me to come in. I was told by Mr. Espinosa that I was a nasty ----- he would not give me a new appointment and I could tell the manager, he didn't care. I sent an email to corporate never heard back. Too bad I really liked that place don't see myself after this. wonder how much business they've lost from people that say nothing and just don't go back. read more

I love love this place. Never had glasses with such amazing design and comfort & fit. Alex was super nice and helped me to pick my perfect frame. It worked out great that we happened to agree right away what looks best on me, independently :) They honored Groupon 100% and I paid no add-on costs other than the difference between sticker price and deal amount. There was one staff that acted mean to me. They saved a time slot for my eye exam and it turned out I didn't need one. I called for appointment solely for picking out my glasses and they mistook it for eye exam. It was a misunderstanding - esp given I faxed them my vision form from prior optometrist - and I felt bad about it since I was getting such good service and value from them otherwise. So I kept apologizing to him but he kept the same angry face and simply didn't respond after pointing out to me a couple of times that I wasted their time. So yeah, that was very unpleasant but I decided not to let that getting in the way of my otherwise perfect experience that exceeded my expectations! read more

I've bought my last two pairs of glasses at See Eyewear (different branches, though) and I highly recommend. Really cool, fun selection of frames, helpful (if a little OVERLY hip) salespeople. Prices are great for the quality and styles they have, though I'm sure you could get cheaper frames at Lenscrafters or similar, but they won't be as nice. We had a great experience at SEE on Columbus. Our family was visiting New York for a wedding. My mother's eyeglasses broke (her luggage fell on them) on the flight over (she bought the glasses from SEE in Chicago). We brought the eyeglasses into SEE after checking into our hotel.
