Ohana means family, after all. To start, the cod fritters were good but the sweet potato fries were amazing with that sweet peanut sauce. I also really enjoyed the Sticky Guava Glazed Chicken, but the fried rice that came with it was the only thing I didn't care for. It was too dry and crunchy, but it wasn't bad enough to take away a star with everything else being so good (and the high praises from my wife and her mom). The photogenic tropical drinks were fun and tasty. I preferred the Jungle Bird, but my wife fell in love with the Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini as soon as she took a sip. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, we somehow found room for both the molten lava cake and banana split cheesecake. Both were good, but the lava cake was mine and I enjoyed every bit of it. We went during an off-time, so the restaurant was quiet and relaxing. The service was friendly and attentive, and everyone loved their food. We can report back to our friend that Modern Ohana was well worth the visit.

The Steak Burrito had plenty of well-seared tender juicy steak, soft tasty onions and peppers, and cheese sauce, with rice and beans on the side. The Chicken Quesadilla was full of melty mozzarella, soft tasty onions and peppers, and juicy tender chicken, served with yellow rice and salad. All were flavorful and generous. My only complaint is that the rice was too much of a yellow rice - I prefer a white rice, but that's just personal preference.
